Despite his expressionless face, Genau was filled with overwhelming bloodlust. Beneath that calm exterior, he was consumed by rage and a burning desire to kill the demons who slaughtered everyone in his hometown, especially his childhood friend. His killing intent was so intense that Frieren even mistook it for a demon’s bloodlust. Btw, Season 1 did state that the Demon King was defeated by Himmel and his party. However, I won’t confirm or deny your theory about the Demon King’s reincarnation.

If it was the demon king the focus would’ve been on frieren🤣 and it would’ve been more of a shocking surprise rather than bro just eating bread🤣🤣. My guess is its probably a demon that genau has fought or knows about rather than anyone else cuz the focus seems to be on him . Also Because the others including frieren and stark wouldnt be surprised or even it need to be a whole detective situation that a demon is capable of wielding four swords

Genau is such an interesting character. You have to look past his words and his dispassionate demeanor and look at his actions (much like his master, Serie). He comforted his old friend when he was dying and he erected a new barrier over the church where all the village's dead were laid. But yeah, this mini-arc is definitely a departure from the show we're used to with Frieren. Gone are the cozy, wholesome vibes replaced with tense, thriller-horror vibes. It's nice to have a change once in awhile
