In the manga/sub instead of wondering about if Bulma is ashamed about not having a tail in the bath, he thinks she has an extra butt on her chest (which imo is a bit funnier than the tail thing) and she kicks him out of the bathroom because he tells her that he's 14 years old and she threatens to call the police on him if he does it again since he's closer to her age than she thought (she's 16)

Toriyama wrote Dr. Slump and got famous from that, so a lot of early DB humor came from that, and will get references/crossovers from Dr. Slump

RIP the goat Toriyama, also if you guys can I think double drops would be ideal. As much as I love OG DB because it shows us Goku’s backstory and gives me Saturday morning cartoon nostalgia, the best moments of the franchise are in DBZ and so on.

This is what I try to tell everyone. Dragon Ball is a comedy manga. It detours into what came to be a "battle shonen". But Toriyama specialty was comedy, and this is what is at the core of the manga.

You are correct. It took me some getting used to as well. I feel most of us here started with dub so its a nostalgia factor. I would imagine a Mexican content creator to watch in spanish and a japanese creator to watch in japanese etc. That just makes sense when the dubs are more popular than the subs. Most shows its the opposite where the subs are more popular so it makes sense those are watched in japanese. Fun Fact this is one the last times funimation actually auditioned for roles. After Dragonball they had a pretty permanent cast and assigned roles rather than having new actors come and audition like they do in japan and that really killed the quality.

Considering who Goku is as a character, I genuinely believe the original Japanese voice suits him best, and no matter what anyone says, that’s the voice I will always think of as Goku’s true voice. At the same time, I have great respect for the voice actors from every country, and I think they’ve all done wonderful work. Still, I often see comments making fun of the original voice, and it honestly hurts to read them. I apologize if anything isn’t translated correctly. I’m using a translation app, so there may be some mistakes.

It's mainly Western/American fans with their misinformation and their obsession with Bruce Faulconer. A lot of their subs want them to watch that version of DBZ and they won't be able to unless they buy that version or if someone sends them the episode files. We're about to watch Goku sound like Superman LMAO unless they watch Kai that fixed that LOL

Dragonball in the 80s was a different time. Very wild I'll say especially that scene yall saw with goku n Bulma haha 🤣🤣 back then censorship wasn't heavily forced in the 80s. Akira took full advantage of it tbh

I personally grew up mostly on the english dub(aside from my hebrew mother's tongue), but I grew to like the japanese one the most. DBZ Goku in the dub is a completely different character. Not to say he's bad but still

Unironically. The literal GOAT. Both this and DBZ and the franchise / series' as a whole. Anyone who disagrees simply hasn't seen them.
