I highly recommend you guys to NOT look at the title for Dragon Ball just like you do for One Piece. The spoilers lowkey are worse than One Piece. It'll deadass be like "Goku achieved Sage Mode?" Legit spoils the whole episode sometimes and the biggest surprises.

dragon ball began as a loose adaptation of the classic 16th century chinese novel journey to the west and son goku is just sun wukong in japanese as they use the same characters. Kame just means turtle as he is a turtle hermit lol. That robot in the beginning is tori-bot (toriyama's avatar)

Yes early dragon ball is based on Sun Wukong/the Chinese story “Journey to the West”. Goku’s full name is Son Goku, which is the Japanese translation of “Sun Wukong”

A lot of western/american fans never grew out of the NOSTALGIA and are obsessed with Bruce Faulconer when it was Scott Morgan, Mike Smith, and Julius Debus who created the OST. I say it depends how you watch it. When I watch it in SUB, I would watch OG DBZ but if I watch it in DUB I will watch DBZ KAI (better voice acting in the dub and the animation been upscaled.

It’s only really in the U.S where 16-18 year olds are seen as children. In other parts of the world, including Japan, a 16 year old is old enough to consent. It sounds disgusting to us but normal to foreigners. The fact that Roshi is called a pervert/ not pure kind of makes it less weird because Toriyma is acknowledging that Roshi’s actions are to be looked down at.

One Piece was also aired on TV with the titles. They choose to completely avoid the titles for that, so it would make sense that they’d wanna avoid the titles for Dragon Ball which has even worse spoilers in the title. of course it’s up to them, it’s merely a suggestion based on what they do.

Kai is just OG Z without the filler, and updated voice acting, with like only 3% of the animation being updated. Basically one pace for dragon ball, except made profesionally. A lot of the dub voice actors are actually the same between the two, Goku included.

You know the language of the shows are interesting I grew up watching dragon ball in Spanish and the dialogue was funny as hell same with Pokemon, but it was manly team rocket they were unhinged and funny to the bone they were actually the reason why a lot of people even watch Pokémon in Mexico and when I came here I found out that ash was the savage one not team rocket 🤣🤣🤣
