This EPSIODE WAS SO PEAK, legit my favorite episode in all of bleach

[Tidbits & Thoughts] - Here we finally see why Yachiru vanished after Kenpachi awakened an used his powers, itā€™s because she is his Zanpaktou Spirit made Manifest. There are constant signs of this throughout the story, most notably that when Kenpachi first meets Yachiru as a baby and he ask her ā€œwhere did you come fromā€ she touches his sword. (Again if you go back throughout the story it makes even more sense, how whenever Kenpachi fights sheā€™s completely engrossed by the battle) - We saw in the Soul Society arc that Shinigami have to physically manifest their Zanpaktou to attain Bankai (We saw Renji do it) In Kenpachiā€™s case it was different in that he was mentally blocking himself from power he already had. In Kluboutside Q&A 151 we learn that Yachiru is a portion/form of Nozarashi's Bankai that separated from the main body and took on a life of her own because she was given a name (and names have/give power in bleach). The actual spirit and embodiment of Nozarashi is a grown adult woman. (whose voice I believe we heard in last week's poem) - As mentioned previously Kubo calls Ichigoā€™s new form ā€œHalf-Hollowā€ so presumably this isnā€™t itā€™s full potential, which is sensible given that Ichigo only just unlocked his true potential. Additionally if you recall Ichigoā€™s Final Getsuga training in his inner world, this is what his true power was supposed to look like all along, as that horn formation is exactly how Tensa Zangetsuā€™s looked. - In Kluboutside Q&A 226 We learn that Toshiro needed to Master his Bankai before using this Adult like form, otherwise heā€™d have undergone an imperfect growth and damaged himself in the process, so he couldnā€™t have used it before now. [This shows Toshiroā€™s potential because itā€™s extremely OP that he can freeze the function of matter, he literally froze the concept of hope belated to Gerardā€™s sword, freezing concepts is a crazy upscale.] - Gerards Volstanding name is Aschetonig meaning Power of God [Also note where it was that Gerard regenerated from]

I just FINISHED THE EPISODE OMFG IM SCREAMING

Str8vib3s

donā€™t worry u gonna feel a lot of that hype in one piece soon

Mike Cash

When kenpachi gave her the name "yachiru" he gave her a real body and her own powers and he was forcibly manifesting her the entire time like how ichigo was doing with his bankai training with Yoruichi...remember she could see and talk to Old man zangetsu while he was manifested

LoneCourier21

I WAS THINKIN ABOUT YALL AND NICK ALL DAY... no Diddy šŸ¤£

F12Berlinetta

Michelle, adult Toshiro or Gojo? šŸ˜‚

Usgaroth

Yachiru was always his Zanpakuto. Go back to the episode where he cuts meteor in half, he has a flashback with Yachiru. He asked her: "Where did you come from kid", and she touched his blade.

shinigamiO.O

Michelle, I was thinking the same thing. Adult Hitsugaya unlocked new husbando today! šŸ˜

Soul

Hitsugaya IS STILL A KID BTWšŸ˜ I think he grows up like 17

Soul

In the sense of human years

David Waller

Yachiru is Unohana's first name. My guess is that Kenpachi is so op that his zanpakuto spirit was always manifested. The manifested zanpakuto can be seen by others like when Ichigo saw Renjis when Ichigo was training for Bankai. Im guessing do to Zaraki's massive spiritual pressure Yachiru as a manifestation was much more extreme. With that being said the name Yachiru that Zaraki gave her isn't her actual name so learning her name Nozarashi returned her to his sword. That's just my guess.

LuvStarburst

Little did we know it was going to be a episode where michelle and ron cream together lol. I wanna say zaraki is like the number one espada stark where in his loneliness he split in 2 so he wouldn't be alone and in zarakis case his zanpakto manifested itself into yachiru to keep him company and watch over him until he could hear her true voice as his sword. Remember back in the flash back when he was sitting in the forest alone in rukongai she just popped out of nowhere from the bushes and the first thing she did was touch his sword.

CaptainCameron

Yachiru is in fact Kenpachiā€™s zanpakuto spirit. Back in episode 20 of TYBW there was a flashback when Kenpachi released his Shikai for the first time. In that flashback Kenpachi ask where Yachiru was from and she crawled up and touched the blade. Because this was Kenpachiā€™s first time using Bankai his body wasnā€™t fully prepped to handle its power so he has room to improve but if he struck that Quincy star cross he would have killed Gerard. Toshiroā€™s true power is actually pretty crazy too. He has the ability to not just use ice but to freeze concepts. Itā€™s kind of the ultimate form of sealing.

Caleb Surratt

ā€œThe cream has been creamedā€ -Ron 2026šŸ˜

Xelryk

If you notice back when they show Kenpachis backstory, when Kenny asks Yachiro what her name is she reaches out and touches his sword.

SpartanManJDOGG

man so dense his zanpakuto had to physically manifest a real body lol

Caleb Surratt

Kenpachi is in a lane at least adjacent to characters like Zoro, Yami, many others itā€™s just the aura. (Ps I donā€™t have a better word to describe it besides aura idc if itā€™s corny)

Str8vib3s

michelle u know all the soul reapers are technically over like 1000 years old, so rukia and hitsuguya r kids to the rest of the soul reapers but are way older than actual humans

Dwayne Townsend

Funny how byakuya was there for the two ice users šŸ˜‚ playing big brother lowkey

RubberBuckyy

Whole lot of creaming this episode LOL

DarkestNights

Tbf for Gerard, he isn't brought up often because of Yhwach and Aizen being so damn strong, plp will always bring them up haha

Dwayne Townsend

Honestly as far as power scaling u gotta watch more anime with higher ceilings lol but Gerard is tough ..but bleach has fairly strong characters plus their abilities play a big part .. youā€™re watching dragon ball now so eventually I think that will be your baseline for powerscaling up or down .. then it becomes easier to discern who the real threats are in anime and who the real OP heros are

lordjaggi

Ron need to cosplay hitsugaya at this point. Shorty rizzed up off Aura.

K2

EP OF THE YEAR

ra-TH_

All TYBW has been peak, but this... this hits different.

Jnasty

Yall already saw that spoiler when you watched the preview for TYBW, right when yall finished the fullbringer arc

Volt

The thing with characters like Gerard is that the convo isn't really interesting, like he'll get his ass beat until he just ends up stronger than the opponent after losing 45 times unless you can seal him or are just unfathomably stronger than him

KazumaSpitfire

Such a sick episode, wish it was included in the theater run but still PEAK nonetheless

Erl Sweatpants

Yes gerard would absolutely apply the belt to a lot of anime verses šŸ˜. Its not even funny

solomon Carter

With the kenpachi yachiru thing just think about the 1 spade stark. Stark was so strong his spirit split into 2 beings. Stark and lilynette

Hito

bleach top 3 and itā€™s not 2 or 3

Shem Daniel

Zaraki is so powerful that his Zanpakuto has a Zanpakuto

Jnasty

She (Yachiru) is his Zanpaktou spirit. It's similar to Coyote Starkk and Lilynette. Kenpachi is so powerful that his sword took its own manifested sentient being apart from himself . She has been gone since he learned Zanjutsu and his Shikai. It's also why Yachiru touches his sword in the flashbacks

PacoTaco

Back in Soul Society arc when Ichigo first meet Yachiru. He asks "what are you " instead of who . I like to think Kenpachi is like Coyote Stark Espada 1 . Unlike other espadas Stark Spirit Energy was so strong he sealed his power into another body instead of a sword.

Ultimate Winner

Def my favorite episode of the season by far. I still think Kisuke Bankai was my favorite Bankai reveal of the season. That or Toshiro. So much happened: Toshiro Adult Bankai, Kenpachi bankai, Byakuya new ultimate move from training with Squad Zero (?), Ichigo's Gran Rey Cero sword slash. It looks like we getting a big Orihime + Ichigo team up against Yhwach, def a big upscale for Orihime if she can keep up. Kenpachi stuff was super cool. But I am slightly disappointed, his bankai lasted 3 minutes and he kinda lost with it. All he accomplish was make him stronger. This bankai was built up for a long time to kinda lose, I can see the potential if he can master it. I wish he used it against a weaker Sternritter to give the Bankai a win. Despite that, I was hella hype watching it. But post-Bankai, I realize he is no longer in Bankai state anymore and cant use it because of his body. But he can train it, maybe he can up how long he can stay in it? I think I rate Kisuke's Bankai reveal above it just cause he might have not kill Askin, but his bankai gave the win to the Soul Reaper side. Toshiro scene stole the show for me, his bankai was nowhere near built up as Kenpachi's and I feel like it had around sane impact and he looks hella sick. If it was built as much as Kenpachi's, I would be disappointed to see it just for Gerald to revive again. But ATP I don't think any normal soul reaper can beat him. We need a OP Hax power like Ichibe's naming or Yamamoto's intense heat that vaporize someone.

Ilsuk Yang

Kubo didn't know it at the time, but he made mature Toshiro for Michelle lol. Yeah, Yachiru is a physical manifestation of Kenpachi's zanpakutou. So much bankai goodness in this episode šŸ”„ Also, Gerard's "Miracle" ability pissed me off so much the first time I read TYBW šŸ™„

Kurovibes

I donā€™t know if you guys remember, the first time we saw yachiru in Ichigo vs kenpachi, Ichigo asked ā€œwhat are you?ā€ Not ā€œwho are you?ā€ !!!!!!

Usher

I swear i didnt read the manga but it was so obvious to me that yachiru was his bankai after she disappeared like that

Daniel Walker

A bit of info for Yachiru & Zaraki to get the brain gears working: Think of the being that was Starrk and how his hollow existence was too powerful that he split himself into 2, because of loneliness. In a similar fashion here, Zaraki who was too strong for himself and everyone around him, nerfed himself unconsciously and in the process his sword went thru a similar thing. The very first time Ichigo encounters Zaraki and Yachiru, she jumps on Ichigo's shoulder where he asks her "WHAT she is, instead of WHO she is". There have always been hints that her existence is an unusual one, but of course it was never clear what exactly is the secret ... till now! There is some other things we veteran fans know, so I think this is enough info for you two + some things can be explained if you went back and rewatched their moments together. Or just the show entirely. Example: the location of the forest we saw here.

ģ§€ģ›

damn kenpachi is knida trash lol

Kurovibes

It takes 10 years to master a bankai. He literally just got his

Jonymush

I saw a really sick theory on Twitter for kenpachi. His face has a tattoo symbol and when you separate it it is very clearly a butterfly. Symbolizing the hell butterfly even. I wonder if kenpachis strength partially comes from hell itself. Would be so sick if it turns out that way This episode was so sick. So many things happened Kenpachi bankai was so good. Ichigos Gran Ray cero getsuga looked so sick too. I hope we get it again in the opening of next week's episode

Iyana

I'm right there with you with Toshiro, Michelle! LOL!!!! Husbando 100%! This was the girls' Yoruichi moment and we ATE!!!!

BP

Remember that Isane (4th Division vice-captain) said that Yachiru's "shikai" was weird; it didn't change shape, which doesn't happen, and then all the other hints And here we also learn that Byakuya could've literally turned Ichigo into paste the first time they fought. When Byakuya used Senkei, he told Ichigo not to worry; the swords wouldn't attack him all at once. Had he used that ultimate attack, Ichigo would've been reduced to nothing. And as far as ice is concerned, this is what puts Hitsugaya above Rukia: he can output the type of damage she can, but with complete, targeted control- no big ice nuke AND he can literally freeze concepts.

akali

Kubo did reveal Gerard Valkyrie's weakness but I wonder if kubo is going implemented in TYBW but I do think the strongest of the two is still Lille Barro since Lille is intangible and his ability actually kind of counter Gerard (if you know what Gerard true weakness is)

GentleCrank

They had to clean the floor after this episode

TaterThots

They really brought Eren Yeager to fight the titan

Nero Luv

Kennyā€™s Zanpakuto was normal until he gave her Unohanaā€™s name (Yachiru) thus making her a soul reaper since she was named after one. She leaves because Kenpachi learns the true name.

Jnasty

He's over 100 years old. He just prefers to look younger, as stated in this episode. It's not dog years. He has lived for over a hundred human years, you and me.

Mando23

Bro this shit was straight peak!

wram

Zaraki's Zanpakuto Spirit is so powerful it has a Shikai of it's own LMAO (by the way if you look at Yachiru's pupil when she is talking to Zaraki near the end, there's a jagged sword shape in her eyes)

Jnasty

Commenting the same low hanging fruit for months is just engagement bait. Sorry mods you dont like it (the truth)

Brandocommando

Hitsugaya didnā€™t fully unleashed his Bankaiā€¦..he unleashed Michelle šŸ˜‚

Tay

By your logic, you caught the bait brother. Congrats šŸ‘šŸ½

Luis Miguel Gomez

The perfect crimson āŒ The perfect cream āœ…

Kayso

Kenpachi was on demon time literally. Not only did we get his bankai which was f*cking insane, but then we got Hitsugaya aura farming. Gojo got some competition šŸ˜ Hitsugaya was already my favorite anyways so this just made him even better. Ron - Kenpachi named Yachiru ā€œUnohanaā€ after captain Unohana correct. He named her after the person he respects/admire the most which is Unohana. You said ā€œI thought it was because just out of respectā€ It is respect Ron, you thought right. Unless you were meaning something else

Drew

Gerald Top 5 villainšŸ˜¤

kidBuku

If you get a chance go back to your Reaction to TYBW EP 20 @21:20 (The flashback with kenpachi). Kenpachi asks yachiru where she came from and she immediately reaches to touch the zanpakuto. He asks her if she had a name and when she wasn't able to answer he declared she didnt have a name and that he would name her himself. Its almost similar to the way that Yumichika cals his zanpakuto the wrong name and because of that he's not able to use its actual powers. Or how Renji had the incorrect name for his bankai when he first learned it. There's a huge emphasis on the names having power(Especially when we see characters like Osho).

Kayso

OST rundown: Love that we get ā€œTreacheryā€ slowed down at start of the episode šŸ‘ŒšŸ½ The music when Gerard revived after Kenpachi cut him down was crazy 23:50 This ost was so good itā€™s like an upbeat Egyptian type vibe Then we have ā€œNumber oneā€ to finish off the episodeā€¦šŸ”„ Bleach truly has the greatest osts šŸ˜šŸ”„šŸŽ¶šŸŽ¼

Kayso

Also one thing I wish Kenpachi wouldā€™ve actually said ā€œbankaiā€ I wanted to hear his voice. Unless it did happen and I missed it but I heard two voices it was Yachiru and Iā€™m assuming Nozarashi

Dannilo

I knew Michelle was going to lose it over Hitsugaya, LOL. Ron with Zaraki was a sure thing. XD

Mario Garcia

Yess Gerard is definitely one of the strongest villain ever. Its debatable if he is the strongest Quincy. People debate the other being lile barro(the sniper quicy who fought shunsei) remember he only got defeated because his lieutenant had the power to seal a god away otherwise he would still be around rn. The other being haschwalth(the grandmaster) those 3 are always in the conversation of strongest Quincy

Levelingup

Yeah everyone creamed their pants this episode

mmm

yachiru being the zanpakuto was foreshadowed very early as when ichigo first met her he said ā€œWho are youā€¦ or maybe I should ask, what are you?ā€ and when kenpachi first meets her he asks her name and touches his sword answering his question to that

miruryuu

Guys I think this is a good time to revisit Kenpachi's fight with Ichigo the first time. Listen/read what Ichigo says the moment he saw Yachiru on Kenny's back. He said " who the hell are you or what the hell are you?" Clearly Ichigo instinctively sensed something different about the girl. Also, in the bleach verse, names contains the power of everything. Remember yhwach fight ichibei, where they were fighting using the concept of name erasure, renaming etc. The theory is, the moment Kenny gave her the name first time, he gave her the power to exist as a shinigami. Also, when zanpakto materializes, it can be seen by others just like how Renji materialised zabimura when he was with Ichigo training bankai in that underground cave of Yoruichi. One more thing. During the episode of Yachiru's sword reveal, Isane, notes that she doesn't feel the same presence of a zanpakutou on Yachiru's release. As if, Yachiru's sword release is not a normal shinigami sword release. Well of course, she isn't a Shinigami. And zanpakuto can be materialised for a long time. Remember the sword god's place with all those materialised zanpakutuo girls?

Bernkastel

Remember when Ichigo first saw Yachiru he said what are you instead of who are you, like he instinctively knew she wasn't a normal shinigami

Hector Tavares

One of the solutions I liked the least in this entire saga was this one: ā€œthe power to defeat Godā€ coming out of absolutely nowhere, with no hint or clue throughout the entire anime. But it is what it is. It still doesnā€™t erase the greatness of this season

JosƩ Carlos Soares Junior

Usually, when a character is about to use their Bankai, we hear them say "Bankai" in a super cool way, with a deep, serious voice... But it is so funny that when the most badass character in the show finally has his Bankai revealed, we hear "Ban-kai, dayo" in a cute voice from a little girl, which makes it even cooler hahahahaha.

Hector Tavares

For now, for them itā€™s One Pieceā€”theyā€™ve said it multiple times, haha. But who knows, maybe by the end of this saga that might change.

IcoNIC

Adult Toshiro my GAWD! And Zaraki jeez!!!! I was gagged and gooped. I love bleach so much!!!!!!! Gerard was irritating tf outta me just die damn lmao

Hector Tavares

Dragon Ball sagas really do have some of the strongest characters, but in my interpretation it has always been mostly about raw strength. Itā€™s always about who can cause the most destruction; itā€™s not a universe with very complex powers. I think some Bleach characters could do serious damage there, even if they arenā€™t considered that strong within Bleach itself. Keep in mind that mental attacksā€”or even a heart attackā€”can kill extremely powerful characters :)

IcoNIC

Ron is being very big brain šŸ§  this episode. I love it.

IcoNIC

The fact Byakuya did the same thing for Rukia and Toshiro šŸ˜šŸ˜. Bleach is in my top 2 for a reason

Kj_XD

I was losing my mind this ep, got me stood up the whole time and took me 40 mins to finish šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚. TOO MUCH PEEAKK

I wish people wouldnt hindsight and just let ron and michelle react normally

When this ep comes to YouTube and the title isn't "a lot of cream", I'm going to be very disappointed in y'all lol

I can't even fathom how long I've waited for this to be animated. 11/10

Donā€™t let Rangiku see Hitsugaya in this form šŸ˜šŸ˜š

Yep! Bleach #1 for a fact :)

Captain Usopp aka God Usopp

Title should be creme de la creme u guys lol , "enough with boys creme now lets the girl gets some too" i think this play in his mind while drawing it. Tite Kubo literally feeding us heavenly meal haha

Czemu Nie

Fun little detail - when yachiru tells Kenny about the bankai, in the close-up shot of her face, you can see Nozarashi (the blade) reflecting in her eye. I didn't spot it the first time I've watched the episode.

Mel - SƫrƫnƤ

I'm DYING!! šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£ Michelle I'm with you!!! I did the same to my own husband when we watched the episode šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£ And yes!!! Yachiru is his zanpakuto, the physical form of it's spirit, that's why, when Kenpachi called her real name for the first time, Yachiru disappeared... I miss her though!!! šŸ©·šŸ˜¢

Rokujou_Sakura799

@BP, not sure if your analysis is correct - let me add some insights and hear your opinion about it. By biggest meh is your claim that Ichigo would be reduced to nothing on that time - firstly, remember, that current Byakuya had gone through Squad Zero "upgrade" (phisically and spiritually), plus spend time on practice there backed up by the whole wisdom of Squad Zero. On the other hand, remember that Ichigo stopped White during their fight, when he was overpowering Byakuya and ready to kill him. Those two things totaly don't add up in regard of your claim. We can also add to it a fact, that Ichigo was able to block houndreds of millions of small blades of Bankai Senbonzakura Kageyoshi. On what basis would you say that it would be harder for ichigo to block a thousand of swords? He was loosing with time because his body was not used to using Bankai. His body was crumbling under stress and his own power. He was at that moment in a sense similar to Kenpachi in today's episode - too much strenght to handle for the flesh his body is made of. But why do I say you missed a point in my opinion - Byakuya himself claimed, as you quote, "don't worry, this procession of thousand swords will not attack you all at once", but also added something more, which seemed important. He said that Senkei is a form of Senbonzakura Kageyoshi that he shows only to those he vowed to kill with his own hands. This implies that (along with saying that this form abandons all defence and is all for offence), that this is the most efficient way of using it in 1 vs 1 fight (at his current power level), as he can use a combo of swordfighting, kido, onmitsu (like Utsusemi which he learned from Yoruichi) and all his wits. My assumption is, that he probably was not able to manouver the thousand swords at the same time or they would not be as fast as needed to pin down quickly moving oponent. This ability we saw today probably came with further time and training, as then, when he first fought Ichigo, he was one of the strongest capitains and only this fight showed him that the level of power he stayed on for houndreds of years is not enough anymore - which he belived because of his pride. Alternatively, he was actually able to use it but knew that this level of speed was not enough, making it more of a finishing move like we actually see it in this episode (Gerard was pinned down and frozen). That is my perspective on that topic, happy to hear your view ;)

BP

Byakuya has always been capable of attacking with all the swords at once, even if this particular technique is new, it doesn't change that fact.

Dwayne Townsend

I agree some parts but I think the powers more complex than you might think .. they just mainly interpret it as raw power for the most part .. but weā€™ve seen abilities, magic, etc without really spoiling here ā€¦ and weā€™ve things like powering up overcome certain things that would be ā€œhaxā€ in other verses .. so I think the Db world is tricky when it comes to other verses abilities .. I think a lot of what these characters can do is overlooked bcuz of the fighting

Ahupnatun

The way I always took Yachiru is that the sword was well aware of Zaraki's demeanor and Yachiru's goal was to always see Kenny happy and enjoying battle. She was never needed before TYBW, but soon after him fully claiming the Kenpachi title and her being a "hostage" with Gremmy, I think she realized it was time for her to fully be his sword since he was in need of the power. The zanpakuto need to recognize their master to give them their power, and I always took it as she always recognized his strength, but respected his wish to fight alone.

Ahupnatun

I just love Bleach so much! They do such an amazing job with giving so much love to so many different characters, both good and villains. Everyone enjoys a lot of them, but so many people have different favorite characters.

Ahupnatun

Also with Gremmy, he was for sure the strongest one before Yhwach picked his chosen group to come with him. We never even saw Gremmy fully release his schrift. It is hard to imagine just how strong he could have been if Yhwach would have brought him along. It was said that Gremmy used to be kind of locked up. Some people speculated Gremmy was even a small threat to Yhwach himself. And if anyone is even the slightest threat to him, they are a major deal in the show lol.

Bird

yachiru eyes being the sword was so sick

Just_a_guy

So tough when Byakuya tells them your help is not needed here while blocking Gerard's attack and that music playing. Peak

Jagodina

This is also why Ken packing isnt around during the muramasa zanpakto rebellion arc

Shaw

LMAO why did i never think of getsuga cero

Marcos

Yā€™all, that Gran Rey Getsuga or whatever name Kubo would give it was GLORIOUS. šŸ˜ Iā€™ve been waiting to see that for so long, and itā€™s only the beginning if the next episode extends the fight as I suspect!

Aus

Hi Rice & Ginger! I don't know if you guys will read this, but I am a long time OG Bleach Patreon member. You guys are my all time favorite Bleach reactors (I watched hundreds lol). I've been having a bunch going on recently and it completely slipped by how caught up you guys got. I have spent the past 3 days binging all of your TYBW reactions and COULDN'T BE MORE HYPE TO BE CAUGHT UP WITH YOU GUYS. Love yall fr!!!

so crazy!!

DCMH

I love that byakuya just tosses renji and gently puts down rukia when he saves them šŸ˜‚

Rokujou_Sakura799

You're basing this statement on what exactly...?

BP

I stated it in my original post. Byakuya told Ichigo that the swords won't attack him all at once, implying he could do that but won't. And during that fight, as Ichigo was losing strength, Byakuya summoned another sword to stab Ichigo directly in the foot. He also summoned multiple swords when he crushed Renji. At the time we didn't know it was a partial look at Senkei. You are the one assuming things, all we know from his RG training is that he better understood his shikai allowing for him to greatly expand it's base power.
