Raden

Paul got that dawg in him😂

Smith

Paul is a goat

GeezMuhKnees

Quite a way to end the video! 😁

Ahupnatun

With rudeus, your intuition if he is acting selfish or rotten it is most likely correct. Is definitely done that way on purpose. He is definitely a flawed character, but also clearly has some very good qualities. So I wouldn't hesitate to bash him when he does something wrong 😂

WhitehairedSatoruGojo

Ayo she basically sirened Paul with her body. I was about to say Paul like dang you been piping and still going to the maid geez leave some for the rest of us. Ghislaine is there to get him a job not to train she says "I look forward to working together" towards the end of the ep.

Jacob Martinez

I really hate how Ron came to the conclusion that just because Paul wasn’t the one who initiated the infidelity that lilia is a “w*ore”. Paul is just as bad if not worse for acting on it. I do know at the end of the reaction Ron said he is a terrible husband but he is also a terrible person. Idk if they actually caught what rudy said that PAUL sexually assaulted lilia while they were in school together. Also if infidelity wasn’t that big of an issue during this time period zenith wouldn’t have gotten so upset and lilia wouldn’t have any shame about it. Now I’m interested to see what the discussion around That scene in ep 6

3-Stacks

Only thing Paul did wrong was hide it.

Burn7G

Ghislaine is truly magnificent.

Jacob Martinez

Ps. I know Ron is not a terrible person and had any intention in his commentary it just rubbed me the wrong way

Dimitron

Ngl I was avoiding this show cause I heard the MC is a weirdo but I'll give it a try with sushi squad

Kurisha

Be careful with your takes Ron 😂 , she going to have you on the couch

Kihaku

Loving the reactions. Your takes too. Looking forward to more!

One correction, in the world of MT and historically having multiple partners is normal for those who have power but, at least in MT, infidelity/cheating on your partner is still seen as a wrongdoing regardless of how your relationship is structured but most people in power wouldn't care about how they're viewed or how their partner (usually weaker or lower in status) feels about it so like Ron said Paul is a relatively good partner by those standards because he does feel guilty and own up to it as his wrongdoing. Also it's kind of incorrect wording to say they had "history" as if they had a relationship when he just assaulted and deflowered her and then fled the training hall. I'm pretty sure she only came to become his maid because she figured she could blackmail him into letting her do her job without harassment (since we all know what royalty would do to maids in these times) aka hire me and leave me be or I'll tell your wife.

Volt

Also wild storytelling is that Paul tells Rudeus about consent last episode and then it's revealed that he assaulted Lillia while she slept. It's a nice way to kind of show and not tell that Paul did feel guilty about what he did and made the effort to get his act together without delving to deep into the situation itself

Enrique 99

I need to binge-watch this; I wish there were more episodes per week. xD

SpartanManJDOGG

There are a lot of thoughts that this show brings out.

Drift3r

Paul for sure isn't a saint. And it would be fair to view him as a terrible person. Especially given his past history with Lilia. However to be equally fair, Lillia did completely betray Zenith's trust because she was premediated her actions which resulted in her getting Paul into her bed. So she can also be viewed as behaving as a terrible person given that situation. However even a terrible person can change paths within the scope of their lives. In short, people are in fact very complex. Their behaviors and motives aren't always static or one dimensional. That's one of the main themes in this show and why some characters are initially portrayed in a clear, bright and terrible light initially.

Dan Richa9097

Yeah that would be nice, but I understand why that's not possible since there are not that many episodes.

Stefan

Your feelings aside, maybe try not to mention future stuff??

Jacob Martinez

Yeah no don’t get me wrong I’m not saying lilia is a saint either cause what she did was equally messed up. Also concerning what I brought up, I only brought up episode 6 cause they always have the mindset of “yeah that’s bad but…” like no there are certain things that are terrible that don’t need some sort of sugar coating or reasoning.

Stefan

Maybe let other people decide how they feel about things without you trying to impose your feelings onto them before they even now what they're supposed to feel that way about???

Jacob Martinez

Spoilers don’t read!!! Idk about you or what you’re into but I would hope everyone would think a little boy sexually assaulting a little girl would make you feel rage and sick to your stomach. I fail to see how that would be taken any way except negative unless you’re a pdf file

Dwayne Townsend

Remember Ron any name you can’t pronounce go listen to it in English dub

Lynchbread

Just a little extra back story for Zenith and Paul that was cut from the anime if you're interested: Paul and Zenith were both runaways who end up in the same adventuring party. Paul would make moves on her, but she would always shoot him down due to her knowing he's a playboy. One day, she finally said to Paul that she'll sleep with him if he swears to never touch another woman again. Paul promises, and Zenith, knowing that he's probably lying, plans to dump his ass the second he breaks that promise. However, after their first time together, Zenith gets pregnant with Rudy, and, to Zenith's surprise, Paul man's up, takes responsibility, and marries her. Paul even kept his promise for years until that night with Lilia. It's just like Rudy said: Paul is scum, but he's not a bad person.

Phyllis

Ron, it does not matter the time period. Firstly, this is another world. It being the countryside or time period does not make it ok to cheat either. Secondly, Zenith (the wife) is clearly upset which means that infidelity is not something that is ok. Is it OK if the family is happy and makes it OK to cheat? NO. Thirdly, both Lilia(the maid) and Paul(the father) were in the wrong. It takes 2 hands to clap. Lilia seduced him by opening the door and being naked on purpose and Paul walked in and did the deed(looks like there was no hesitation either). Paul could have ignored it but he did not, he walked straight in. Next, Paul's history as you can see, he was/is a scum. He assaulted Lilia when they were in school together and he has gotten in bed with multiple 'rich' girls to comment that they were not as good looking as they look underneath those clothing. It is real and it is not ok. Period. Edit: Of course, you are free to speak how you feel or your thoughts on the matter. I personally disagree, that's all. I agree with Michelle.

Phyllis

Lol the camera said Ron that's enough.

John Orfanos

Well, fantasy settings (this one included) tend to take medieval times as a base, so comparing it to that period isn't unreasonable. Totally agree with every other point though.

John Orfanos

A bit of additional info that was cut from the episode (that I haven't seen anyone else mention). The way it portraits it it's like both pregnancies happened almost simultaneously, but in actuality, they were separated by a few months, during which, Zenith forbade sex operating on the belief that there shouldn't be any during pregnancy (which we know it's outdated, but that world doesn't). That's when Lilia found the opening to go after Paul. Also, the two girls were born one after the other, since as soon as Lilia helped Zenith with her birth, she immediately went into labour.

Antonio Ricardo

Ron being “Not a terrible person” is an understatement they both are great people.

Antonio Ricardo

I don’t see how a mistake, even if it was a big mistake, constitutes them being a terrible person. I don’t agree with that. Can you imagine living in a place for several years and not having sex one time? Idk I look at people holistically and I guess especially what I know about the future, and not that she’s “a changed person” she’s the same person she’s always been for the most part.

Antonio Ricardo

You don’t have to be scared to watch an anime lol

Dimitron

Never said I was scared, I said I was avoiding it but since I heard good things about it I'll give it a chance and watch it with them

지원

oh boy

Emil Kolev

Kamogawa Boxing Gym, let's gooo!

Staze Reacts

Rudy got abducted by Ghislaine Maxwell 😂

Phyllis

@John Ya, I know. Well, for me at least polygamy and infidelity is 2 different things.

Lamar Saw

Welll first the time period does kinda matter. Back then it was normal for men to have multiple wives so he can spread out his bloodline as quick as possible. But obviously all his wives would have to be ok with that type of relationship. Since they clearly didn’t have that relationship in this specific scenario it is cheating and it’s not ok. Next, yes that are both definitely guilty because it takes two to tango so they are both at fault, but the maid is more in the wrong for seducing him.

Lamar Saw

It takes two to tango so yeah they are both wrong, but the maid is more in the wrong for seducing him. Just like with the law in real life, if two people commit a crime they both are guilty, but the one who planned it out (in this case the maid) is the more guilty one. Because what she did was premeditated. While he acted on impulse. I know it’s weird to bring the law in this but it helps to see who was more wrong.

Lamar Saw

First time watcher here, idk why but I was honestly expecting Paul to eventually cheat with the maid and that it would be a big part of the story but I didn’t think she would get pregnant, that shocked me. I also find it hilarious even Rudeus himself admits he’s actually a 40- something year old bum mentally which proves even he himself is counting the fact he died at like 35 in Japan and he’s counting that time AND the time he’s alive in this world as his total actual age which makes sense. So kinda proves he’s a 40 year old man in a kids body rn 😂

Bunie

i don’t disagree that they’re both in the wrong, but to say the “maid” is more guilty is just wrong imo. You’re acting as if the maid pinned him down and coerced him into sleeping with her. All she did was allow her body to be seen as she bathed. He’s the freak for going in and just pouncing on the “opportunity” with no second thought. Yes, her intentions were bad and she was literally “asking for it” but she wasn’t the one who took action. It’s like when a man cheats on his girl for another woman just because he felt he was being seduced by her. What business does he have breaking his loyalty just because he can’t keep it in his pants? It was his job to shut her down.

Phyllis

@Lamar Yup, what I meant was that polygamy(time period) is one thing, but infidelity is another. It doesn’t give Paul any excuse to cheat. Lilia is at fault for tempting Paul, but Paul is equally at fault for taking the bait. I wouldn’t compare who is more in the wrong because both of them gave in to lust. Edit: Lol. He also tried to keep it a secret, but he couldn’t because there was a baby involved.🤦🏻‍♀️

Noni

Camera Dying in the end, is a major cliffhanger hahahaha

FijiWater

please change the collections cover its a spoiler

KnowHope

I very much blame both Paul and Lilia for what transpired. Just because I say that doesn't mean I am dismissing Paul's terrible behavior. Like Rudy said, "he's scum, but he's strong". Sadly, a lot of shows that are from this kind of time period or they take place in this time period (but have magic) something that is often highlighted is certain individuals are scum and were not faithful to their one wife.. it was either the maids or someone else. Like Ron was mentioning in shows like vikings and others like it they all do this, is it okay? No. But it doesn't change the fact it happened. It also isn't me trying to side with anyone. Paul is scum, Lilia is just as equally at fault, Rudeus is also at fault for covering for Lilia by forcing Zenith to compromise. All three are at fault (Lilia, Paul, Rudeus) because two had prior history and Lilia knew how to entice Paul, Paul fell easily with no hesitation, and Rudy glossed it over by firstly throwing Paul under the bus then hounding Zenith to compromise. I realize Zenith is a kind lady and she most definitely probably wouldn't have thrown Lilia out into the cold or anything but it's about the fact she didn't even get to mull it over before Rudy stepped in. Paul is scum, and what he did is terrible. It's always interesting hearing different perspectives and having discussions, I enjoy it too.

Haresh Gerard

i love your discussions after this anime cause yall try to understand characters in this anime cause this anime everyone is so flawed but thats why people dont like this anime but i love this anime cause theres so much meaning in every flaw things they do and i love it cause thats for me its storytelling and i like this characters and yall are very understanding on characters so ya

Chase023

Wow is cool but I'll always favor EQ over WoW.. Tho i haven't played it in decades lol

Lamar Saw

I understand where you’re coming from, but Lilia isn’t just some random woman that met a guy out in public and decided to flirt or seduce him while she didn’t know he was married. She’s a woman that’s been living under the roof of a husband and wife for so long she can be considered family. Like, it’s been years. When a person acts on impulse which Paul did, they are usually in a state of high emotional arousal—fear, rage, or panic. Their brain's amygdala (the emotional center) hijacks their prefrontal cortex (the reasoning center). Meanwhile a planner aka Lilia, has minutes, hours, or days to think about the consequences. Every step of planning requires them to actively suppress their empathy and moral conscience over a prolonged period. A planner has dozens of opportunities to change their mind, realize the harm they will cause, and stop but they choose to keep going with their plan anyway. They literally weighed the risks and benefits and decided that their personal gain is worth more. Don’t mean for this to sound cold but when you just look at the facts and don’t factor in opinions or personal feelings, Lilia’s objectively more in the wrong. This also runs a little deeper but just like how Ron said men and women would have different opinions because of their gender, this is a prime example of that which is wild. This is a potentially controversial thing to talk about. But it kind of deals with how women’s minds work, not all women but most women in general are more submissive and absolutely love the “ blameless escape” or protection of judgement route when it comes to sex. This is basically where a girl will send hints about liking a guy or “ wanting to do the deed “ but she doesn’t fully initiate it or make the first move, she wants the guy to, and since the guy made the first big move or got physical with her first she really liked that and can use that as a out and be like “ well I’m not the one to blame here he initiated this on his own. Or “ he made it physical like this first so I’m not doing anything wrong, I couldn’t stop it “. Basically it’s a “ this is out of my control“ type of deal. And it actually can cause a lot of women’s opinions on this same scene to be very different. Man psychology and the human brain really is crazy. 😂😅

Kayso

What in the sister wives is going on here lol. Paul ain’t shit. Also in one of the prior episodes you can see the maid was like getting off from hearing them in the room, unless I’m tripping. They casually brushed over the scene 😭 Gill-lane is how you pronounce that lady’s name, you’ll get it once you practice a few times. She already my favorite character lol

CallMeBibz

Big Ron defender here, and yeah I think yall gotta eat this one Paul is married all he has to do is close the door, ignore her. Stay faithful you know. And even if you make the argument that Lilia would have pursued him more and more, ball is still in Paul’s court to deny her. Ron you buggin in this one my g. They’re both in the wrong but Paul has all the power in the situation.

AddyTW

the Ippo shirt, i see you Ron

Dwayne Townsend

What u said at the end Ron is true .. this anime is “Real” .. truly that’s what’s makes people so uncomfortable.. truth.. reality .. Rudy’s character isn’t sunshine and rainbows .. he’s unapologetically realistic

Ginko 13

You guys are back in the comments section

Ginko 13

Bro she's a healer??? Magic?? You think that the magic of a trad wife?????? XD

Lamar Saw

Premeditated vs impulse. Premeditated is always worse. Lilia’s more in the wrong. She’s been living with them for years to the point she’s considered family and planned out how to seduce him. She thought long and hard about all the risks and consequences and how it could tear the family apart and still went on with her plan, Paul impulsively did it without thinking.

Ahkenaton Furdge

He wants to be the best big brother like he said in this ep. He knew that if the maid would leave, she would die along with the baby. He saw the maid as a guardian with his sister. The mom saw it differently. This show portrayed both well. Very crafty writing

Taiga

I mean bro, are you not with Olympus, then you are against them? XD

Taiga

The moment when they show Roxy burning the young prince and then it's talking about mastering King Water-class magic, always cracks me up :D Also this show humour is like satire, as you've said it likes to drop bombshells, it drops those informations like it's nothing, it's even quite easy to miss a lot of things, because they're just there in the casual narrator's dialogue.

Apathina

Oh.. ped* tensei, unsubscribing forever now I am disappointed and disgusted

krazygreekguy

It’s always best to judge for yourself. Just remember this is fiction and you’re not necessarily supposed to like or hate any of these characters. It has great writing and great character development. All these characters have flaws.

krazygreekguy

Great reaction and discussion. Can’t wait to see you guys finish the rest.

3-Stacks

You are entitled to your opinion

Antonio Ricardo

I mean they do cover half of this a bit later..

blood_drac

remember everyone no spoilers in comments. only light novel content from the chapters the current episode is made from or before

Jordan

You most definitely haven’t even watched it

wheezin365

Paul is mild. just wait youll see.

Devron Love

Nah, Ron, you lost me with this one my guy lol. Paul is definitely wrong and shitty for cheating on his wife. This is another world not a different "time" per say, but infidelity is wrong, look how upset Zenith got and he was sorry and Lilia was ashamed because they know it's wrong.

kidCash3

Zenith knew about Paul and Lilith

BynFlew

Zenith follows the Millis religion that values monogamy but Paul and most of the world of Mushoku Tensei dont follow that religion so polygamy isnt that unusual especially in nobility and rich people. Though Paul def knows Zeniths religion and knew he was wrong for cheating

Volt

Remember you can't really take everything Rudeus says at face value, the added up years he's been alive in both lives doesn't add up to your actual mental age. Especially when you're physically and mentally growing up again. Kind of like how after COVID quarantine a lot of people said they still kind of feel like they're x age they were before the quarantine. This is explored in Oshi no Ko too if you've seen that
