Okay, counter uses the opponents strength against them. When Jimmy swinged full power Miyata didn't just hit him which would deal damage but stepped in and punched with all his power through his head basically, like Mike Tyson punches :D . I'm not sure if this is a legit punch Irl though. Also, Jimmy is shown fighting again in the manga. There was something wrong with him though mentally anyway he is not a very important character. The show is about to pick up, lots of peak episodes to come!

The Manga does a little better explaining things like this. Basically Miyata had to put his FULL body weight behind it. A JOLT is a full vody weight counter. Think of it like a counter +. But the more damage it will do to others also means the more damage it will do to you if you fail.
