Logia is when the user’s body becomes an element of nature. It’s confusing because Oda didn’t thoroughly thought this out early in the series. In fact he added the qualifier that it has to be a natural substance in this arc when he wanted Katakuri to be a logia but then changed his mind and made him a special paramecia
