Greetings everyone! With Episode 1 in the rearview mirror, we want to take this opportunity to look ahead at the future of Hazelnut Latte.

This is the final update in a six-part series on the future of Hazelnut Latte. What is changing, and how we will release the game.

In this post, we will discuss what is coming out in the next 4 months for Hazelnut Latte.

Why only 4 builds?

Here are the next four updates that will round out 2026! We decided that, instead of hitting all of you with a giant roadmap, we would break it up into sections. This way, if we ever decide we want to change course on what content will be in the build, or if we need more builds or fewer builds, we aren't as tied down.

Plus, if we announced everything now, we would all forget about this post in 5 months. I know y'all- everyone, but Jabermania missed that Jeze was on the roadmap for Ep 1 the whole time.

We plan on doing these quarterly roadmaps to keep everyone in the loop on the next batch of Hazelnut Latte updates. So expect another one of these in December, outlining Jan - March.

SLIGHT SPOILERS AHEAD

If you want to enjoy each update raw, don't read on. I won't give everything away, but I will give you a good idea of what to expect.

v0.16.0 - 9/1/26

The start of Episode 2! You will return to Newhaven and report to Greg on how the NemTech deal went in Jade City. Isaac will have a lot to consider, reflecting on his actions not just in Jade City, but at the Galli at the start of Episode 1.

If your Isaac has any unfinished business at The Galli, you can return there one last time.

Oh yeah, you read that right. There is Dave content!

This path will only be available to those who have fumbled every other encounter so far. No Max, no Charlene, no Hazel, no Jamie. Dave will notice that you are depressed and offer for you to come over, drink beer, and watch a movie. You can choose to do this and see Dave as you've never seen him before.

This will open a Dave Route that concludes in Episode 4 and has the chance to tie back into the main narrative, though you may miss out on a lot.

There will be 2 lewd scenes in this update.

Est. 8.5k words, 35 min playtime.

v0.16.1 - 10/6/26

Getting back on track, if the player thinks they've made a connection in Jade City, your Isaac can return!

The scene with Hazel when you first arrive back in the old Ren'Py build is here, where you set up a date at Noto's Notorious Cuisine.

But seeing as that is at night and you have a whole day to waste while Hazel works, you can also go back to Hildebrandt's and see if Jamie is there.

If you find him, you two can go out on a date to Langston Market!

There is a lewd scene. There is also ice cream. The two are not related; I'm just excited.

Est. 7.5k words, 30 min playtime.

v0.16.2 - 11/3/26

Then there is a choice. Keep hanging out with Jamie, or go get ready for your date with Hazel?

Jamie is chill either way, but if you two keep hanging out, you'll miss your date with Hazel. You will go see a movie, and you'll find out more about Jamie.

Then, after the movie, you can stop by a convenience store and meet a future Love Interest.

If you don't go on the date with Jamie, stop by this convenience store before heading to the restaurant to meet up with Hazel.

There are no lewd scenes in this update, just a lot of special moments.

Est. 7k words, 38 min playtime.

v0.16.3 - 12/1/26

Going back to the classics, this update features the restaurant date with Hazel, where he reveals his secret, you two grow closer, and you find out that someone else you've been seeing has been living a double life.

This follows much of what you may remember from the Ren'Py Episode 2, but will also be very different.

There is a lewd scene.

Est. 9.5k words, 37 min playtime.

Wrap Up

And those are the first four builds of Episode 2! This is not ALL of Episode 2, even though I just realized that these four builds, put together, are longer than the original Episode 2... huh.

I hope you are all excited for what is to come in these next few months! Pretty much all of this content, except the Hazel talk at Estro, is new content, so I hope you enjoy it.

2026-10-06 22:00 Having read how everything has changed, I am glad that your work has acquired a clear structure, as a lot of resources and time were invested, so to speak, nowhere. One example is the chubby Hezel, who was immediately cut out afterwards, and the courier Finn, whose addition I still don't understand the purpose of. Back then I thought, "Bro, you don't have any moments with girls from neighboring cafes in your game, you can't even add the red-haired girl (Karen?) you've been showing for years, what are you doing???" And even after the "remake", characters were added at the beginning of the game again that seemed to be created just to test new mechanics; although they do create the right atmosphere, they are not key characters. I think it's not worth spending so much effort on "disposable" characters. The only exception is, of course, the Note service, which will apparently be used correctly in the future, but to be honest, I was shocked by the information that these were models from OnlyFans and that they might be deleted but that's not the point, though such things shouldn't happen. It is understandable that you want to do everything, especially when there is an opportunity, but the game has long passed the stage where it is created just for the sake of sleeping with dozens of femboys in an hour. Given temporarily limited resources, it will be perfectly fine if minor characters, for example, have static sprites at first, and special scenes with them consist of, say, 5 frames even though most of the current players play and wait for the game for the sake of these scenes. Yes, you say that you don't want to look back, but I am talking about efficiency so that we don't have to wait for version 1.0.0 until sometime in 2030. No one will complain much if a player was just on a date with an animated Hezel and a minute later meets a 2D femboy who only has 3 emotion sprites. There will be nothing wrong with this, because characters like Charlotte should be treated as an experiment, and if people like them, you can return to them later. It will look not like adding something brand new, but like repainting a blue fence green because the whole house is painted green. The main thing now is to prepare the game for the general public, and I doubt you want the game to be perceived exclusively as an erotic game for pleasure with mini-games. In any case, your team knows best; my comment is simply a complaint that the game's precious time and resources are being spent in a somewhat unpredictable manner.

Hey, thank you for the feedback! I'll try to respond as best I can to as much of this as I can. I wouldn't say that "everything has changed". A lot has changed, but a lot is also going to remain roughly the same. Chubby Hazel completely served his purpose and was not cut. That scene serves as an ending to the game if you don't help the cafe. It was a brief look into the future to show how things played out if you essentially reject the main plot of the game. It did its job, and we're planning on keeping it. Finn was added because he, like Dave, is a small side character with their own little story you can follow and also sleep with them. Why add these characters? To make the world feel deeper and also to give you more options for play. What if you fumble or don't want to pursue certain love interests? Then you can also explore these side characters and not be as devoid of lewd scenes. There aren't going to be many of these characters, but we have plans for a few with their own little arcs. If by Karen, you mean Kayra, then yes, they can't really be fully integrated into the game yet. Their story and the location they are connected to are going to be a whole plot thing that we just never got to in Ren'Py. It was much easier to add Finn, who shows up at your door, than Kayra, who we'd need to make a whole setting for. I think Charlene and Max in the opening are really important for establishing what the game will be for the player. It establishes the kinds of relationships you will have, what lewd scenes look like, what your character's main struggle is, and lays the foundation for your inevitable escape to Jade City. We could just focus on the 7 main love interests, but that is a far less interesting story in my eyes. I do think cutting Noto's is the best call. It doesn't make sense narratively, and again, we'd need to keep adding new characters to it to keep it interesting. That is way more difficult than creating a side hook-up now and then who actually has an interesting story. The servers were never going to have stories. They existed to waste your money and sleep with you. The scenes we've already made aren't getting removed, like I said in the post. It will just not be a place in the free roam. And yeah, if we find ourselves in a bind, as I said previously, we won't immediately animate sprites. But we are always going to try our damnedest to animate the lewd scenes. If it hits a point where, to make release, we have to put out an unanimated lewd scene, I will be very sad, but we are also thoroughly planning everything so that doesn't happen. For us, story/characters are the chief focus, but we also need to have lewd scenes since that is the kind of game we are making. I appreciate the concern though < 3 !

Looks like Dave's popularity is definitely going to extend but it makes more sense this way then a F...k and flee situation. but I definitely like the branching out of the storyline. Feels like its going to a lot more open

Yeah, I wrote that comment because I was worried. The plans for the game are so massive that after it releases, it’s going to be a game with RPG elements. But your replies have put my mind at ease now, thank you!
