Hello everyone! In this short video, we are demonstrating our new sprite animation system!

Right now, when a character moves between 2 poses, we have an in-between animation. If Maki had his arms down and then raised them, we would see his arms move. This has caused issues where arms phase through bodies and get tangled.

It looks bad, but we think we have a solution. Instead of doing an in-between animation, we thought of doing this stylized transition where the characters sort of pop between poses. We think this looks better and is actually less work since we don't need to do the in-between animations.

But we want to know what you think!

Would you like our sprites animated like this?

Dude that looks so good! This game has truly evolved into something I never thought it would be and I'm so for it

A1X

Honestly, this is better than seeing the arms move in weird ways. I actually like the snappiness of the transition between animations. Makes it feel...classic? Also, HOT DAMN MAKI LOOKS GOOD.

Jabermania

Could we see a rear view

RadLord Studios

Woowhoo!! Yeah the arms moving can be cool but the amount of work its gonna take to figure out how to do it right is just... not something we wanna deal with xD And the popping is cool imo

Carlos Soto

And the effort clearly shows! Seriously I can't wait to see you what amazing progress you guys make keep it up man!

Izumi!

Yea i really like that, gives the chars a bouncy vibe :D

Tuor

I love it! thanks Radlord

Invarus

Yeah, I think that looks good.

Charmander01

Does this mean we are meeting maki sooner than in the original game?

Overall, I think this looks really good! However, the transition from the laughing to the next pose felt off and jarring. I think it's because the laugh is an animation that cycles instead of being essentially static. I think it might look better if you made the cycled animation pause and become static like the others for a bit before moving on. Or maybe the cycled animation should only cycle a set number of times before hitting a "static" version of the pose. People typically don't giggle for longer than a few seconds after all.

I like this as an interpretation of animation. I think it works well vs a 60fps animation it’s a fill in the gaps that adds to a visual novel

So, I like it, but I feel as if the jolt of movement between expressions could be either a bit smoother or less abrupt? or am I thinking of the word gradual? either way even without that it's still a solid 9/10 animation. Only loosing a point due to lack of a back view.

RadLord Studios

Yeah we're aiming for like the snapiness so we don't have to animate those in between frames that are causing bugs. And our sprites are 2D so we dont have a back view </3

Can someone help me on how to download this for my pc? I’ll be buying it soon.

d3v

Hi, can you help me?

NARUTO

How can I buy the game I want to buy it the full game please guide me

DatsLotus

The game is still in development. There is no full game yet. - Lotus

NARUTO

So how can I download this game then on my iOS?

DatsLotus

We are currently not targeting the iOS platform, and there hasn't been a discussion yet on if and when we will do that. Sorry about that. - Lotus

NARUTO

Damn😔

NARUTO

I really did want to try it

DatsLotus

Sorry about that. If you can get a hold of literally any other device with a pulse you should be able to try it, assuming you meet the minimum requirement for Unity 6.3 - Lotus.

RadLord Studios

When you're a backer, download the zip, unzip the folder and install

Rayzer Maniac

Absolutely love this. Even if you keep it minimal for a reduced work load and to lower the risk of janky movements its still a massive improvement on a series of still poses. This is absolutely the way forward in taking games like this to the next level.
