i keep telling myself that i'll "work on something small to releve the pressure to post a little" only to go and make ANOTHER several part mini comic. what can i say, i yearn for the grind, i suppose

as you may have guessed, i've been pretty actively playing the new Tomodachi Life since it released back in April, so it was only a matter of time since i made SOME comic/art relating to it. and after some brainstorming, i thought this could make for an interesting Mimi-centric interaction! it's not often that we get to see the girls hanging out alone and having such active interactions, this was a very fun exercise towards developing their personalities a bit more!

in hindsight, i should probably try and post this type of multi-part comics as individual posts. that way you guys wouldn't have to wait so long to see what's cooking. though i DO often go back and tweak things, so, i dunno to what an extent that's a good idea, but we'll see how things develop!

i've been referring to these Mii versions of the girls as Piips (peeps) since i like making silly little parodies of things, i actually sketched out some of these concepts back in May!

i draw them at a larger scale and then shrink them down to make them EXTRA pixely, so, as an EXTRA extra bonus, here's all the gameplay panels in their original quality! it's a minor difference, but i feel that it gives it an extra crunch!

you may also notice, on this first panel, Jenny and Mimi are both smiling, and Mimi is even talking! this is a left over from part of the original idea, where i'd have the Mimi Piip saying something like "thanks for looking after our family" followed by some silly catchphrase Jenny had given her, and Mimi would comment on it, but, sadly, i didn't have the space for all that dialogue <:) such is the art process!

i found Flo's depiction of Jenny so freakin' cute. and it's honestly such a fun exercise to try and tap into your characters minds to create THEIR interpretation of their friends. although Flo made her self look a bit dorkier than she is, i'm sure she did it purely for the cute nerd girl aesthetic, not to mention how well it pairs with Jenny's hard-ass bad girl vibes!

also also, i like the detail that, not only has Flo pain-stackingly recreated all of her favourite albums in the game, she made sure that her Piip was talking to Jenny about her favourite of the bunch (that we've previously seen lining the background of her shop in the New Arrivals Mini Comic) to try and level up their friendship~

and finally, the adorable "baby's first Piip" that Mimi made of herself, is just so darn cute and simple, especially compared to the more detailed hunks that she populated her island with to swoon over her. Mimi continues to be the closeted freak of the group, despite her tastes being the more "socially acceptable" out of her friends~
