Septembre Portrait Demo (Patreon)

Welcome back everyone. I hope you’re all doing good.

So this is September portrait study. I particularly chose this reference photo because I am more familiar with it and that I also like to draw extreme angles. We will draw her again for the next week demo, from side view extreme angles too.

For this monthly demo I also decide to make it an Asmr, giving you the real time and real conditions in which I draw and shoot my videos. As you will hear the background noise include talks, birds chirping, music etc. Sometimes I have to pause the recording as the noise gets louder. I also cut out some parts as well. It’s also one of the reasons I don’t explain in some videos because there is a lot of interruptions.

But don’t worry, am planning on buying a good microphone with noise cancellation. It’s a little bit expensive, so am saving some money for it. For now, we work with the means we’ve got.

Now for the tools I used : An HB pencil for the laying (proportions and line work). Then a 4B for the line weight and hair. I also constantly switched to the HB pencil to shade the skin. I primarily use the HB because it is easier to work with and less risky. Finally I used the 8B for the final details and darkest values of the hair.

The sketchbook I used this time is MOLESKIN, Square shaped. Such a good paper for sketches like this one.
