Beer has been a part of human civilization for thousands of years, and indeed, in the land of the pharaohs, much of that brewing was done by topless women! After seeing a clay statuette of one such maiden, I knew I had to draw this up one day.

Also, an ancient form of fragrance was donning a dome of beeswax infused with myrrh atop your head. As it slowly melted, it released the scent. That's what the guy in the back is wearing.

But most importantly, Hathor is the Goddess of joy, pleasure, fertility and to an extent, breastmilk. She is often portrayed either as a woman wearing a cow crown, a cow-headed woman, or a woman with cow horns and cow ears. That means that today's hucow/holstaur imagery actually goes back 3000 years! Needless to say, she was very popular with the average person, and her temple complex at Dendera was one of the largest, luxurious and most ornate.

Ancient Egyptian naming structures often followed structural rules of 'They-who are of-A Diety.' So Tutankhamun means, 'Living Image of Amun'

probably the cone melting due to heat helped cool the head.

I like knowing I'd still have a job back then. Of course, there was a 2000 year dry spell till today...

Karmagik

I'll drink to that! Also, I got a chuckle out of the Tag.

This has been my experience, yes, but with literature.

"Head for the mountains!" You're a hundred years old if you remember that beer commercial tagine from Busch. Great work on this bustiferous brewer. The Brewmaster at McGuire's Irish Pub in my town is a cool dude who makes great beer, but he's not a huge titty knockout like her.

It’s funny, when I reread Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde a couple months ago, the story perspective changed for me when I stopped seeing it about a guy who turns into a hairy green monster like Hollywood would have you believe, but instead about a man who drinks a potion that’s a placebo and gets a chance to be the asshole he’s always wanted to be (even flavors of a closeted gay man coming out as Hyde-kinda like how Dorian Grey is slathered in Gay subtext)

Read enough critical theory, and everything is queer coded or feminist coded in some way, no matter how Whiskey Tango Foxtrot the argument getting there is.

Looks like Hathor gave her a particularly strong blessing!

What's that sonny? Not only do I remember that tagline, I have a fuzzy memory of the commercials

David Rudisill

Mine isn't all that fuzzy when it comes to vintage beer commercials. PIN numbers, passwords, yes, but Rodney Dangerfield hawking Miller Lite, Spuds McKenzie, "and the Twins," I remember pretty well.
