Hi friends,

in Brazilian music like Samba or Bossanova the guitar is one of the main instruments, so here is a first lesson dedicated to these musical genres.

The chords used in these genres are magical and give unique sounds but what are the tricks that guitarists use?

As you can see from the tablature the main chord is a Gadd9 which is a normal G major with the addition of the note A, the ninth note starting from the G.

The trick is to keep this chord and change only the notes on the fourth string, these go up and down along the string thus giving that effect of continuous movement.

The same thing happens with the C major, this time the notes on the third string go up and down.

Pay attention to the rhythm because the change of the note occurs in advance with respect to the bass, this creates that lively rhythm.

In the tablature I have also reported the chord diagrams to make it easier for you to read.

If your left hand gets tired of keeping the chords fixed it is not necessary to perform the entire exercise as I played it. You can practice individual chords separately.

Good playing!
