Hi Friends,

This evergreen song written by the Bee Gees in 1967 will unlock some memories in many of you.

The rhythm is slow so playing it will be quite easy, apart from a few passages on the fifth fret.

Good playing!

Pretty. Memories, yes, of summer in my mom's hometown of Peabody, Massachusetts.

Thanks for this Nick, you’ve got me playing stuff I’d never entertain (this included) that’s more about me than the Bee Gees)when I was younger)) At 65 though I’m soaking up the pleasure of your finger style tabs, simple or slightly more difficult. I played this one slowly tonight in-front of my pal who hadn’t seen me for a year and he was dumb struck that I even could with a couple of plunks, first time. I’d over heard my wife saying he wasn’t to tell me Id improved since last year. 🤷‍♂️ but he did after she’d gone to bed 😂. Essentially this stuff has increased my ability by a country mile and to make it even better its finger style, which is proper guitar playing. I’d just like to say happy new year and thank you so much, because, I was running out of time, now I’m getting somewhere in 6 months more than I’ve done in 55 years since I first owned one of these things. Again Happy new year and Thank you. 🙏🏻

Hi Simon, thank you so much for your kind words, I am so happy that my arrangements are helping you improve and have fun with your guitar. Seeing your own progress is exciting and I totally understand you. Best wishes to you and your wife.

I really enjoyed playing this arrangement. But the Rhythm notation seems to be of … some measure do not fully resolve to 4/4

GuitarNick

Hi Matthias, which measure in particular?

Matthias Kühle

I first noticed on measure 3 and 4 which due to the dotted quarter notes in the top voice come out to 5/4. Measures 7 and 8 have the same problem.

GuitarNick

I understand what you mean. Actually that dotted quarter note in measure 3 extends its duration even together with the next little chord, you don't have to wait for the first note to finish before you can play the next chord but they play together. I could have put a tie to indicate that the note must be held together with the chord and it would have been the same. Surely if I had removed the dot it would have been clearer but even with the dot the tempo of the measure is respected.

Matthias Kühle

I see. I have not interpreted the song as a three voice arrangement. Give three different voices the rhythm notation is clear.
