🎸 New Lesson: "Brothers In Arms" (Fingerstyle)

This week’s lesson is dedicated to the atmospheric genius of the Dire Straits. I’ve arranged a fingerstyle version of "Brothers In Arms" that focuses on that iconic, soaring melody and the deep, resonant chords of the original.

True to my mission, I’ve made sure this arrangement is approachable for players of all levels. I’ve stripped away the complexity while keeping the cinematic "mood" that makes this song so powerful.

What’s Included:

Accessible Arrangement: Designed to be smooth and "playable by all" without losing the song's emotional core.

Printable PDF: Download your high-quality Tabs & Sheet Music below.

Dynamic Control: Tips on how to use a light touch to capture Mark Knopfler’s signature tone.

Master the Mood: This piece is all about the space between the notes. It’s the perfect study in sustain and dynamics for any acoustic guitarist.

Grab the PDF Tab below and let those notes ring out! 🎶

Yet another fantastic arrangement Nick, thank you so much

Thank you for this emotional anti war song Nick. Lyric wise , nothing has changed since the Falkland war over 40 years ago.

Nick, I'm in awe of your ability to arrange this beautiful melody in a format that sounds so fine on an acoustic guitar. True, Mark Knopfler wrote a wonderful song but only someone, like you, who knows his instrument so well, could produce such a resounding piece of music. Thank you.

Thanks so much, Larry. I have to admit, it wasn't easy to arrange this song into a playable version. There are so many different parts. I finally managed to select and connect the most important parts.

Hi Nick, what a great piece! I need some help please, how to read the measures: which is the half note, and which the quarter note?

GuitarNick

Hi Karoly, in the tab, the 2-quarter note has a vertical stem that doesn't reach the number, while the 1-quarter note has a vertical stem that reaches the number. However, to better understand the timing of the note, you should always look at the sheet music.

Okies. What a great reason for sharing the sheet music besides the TAB. I will now check it as well. Thanks a lot! 😊
