Hey everyone! 🎸

Today, we are stepping into the epic, sweeping world of cinema with my solo fingerstyle arrangement of "The John Dunbar Theme" from the masterpiece soundtrack of Dances with Wolves.

To capture the vastness, grandeur, and deep emotion of John Barry’s orchestral score on a single acoustic guitar, I’ve utilized some very specific and beautiful guitar techniques.

What makes this arrangement unique:

Drop D Tuning: Dropping the low E string down to D gives this arrangement a massive, deep bass foundation that mimics the low strings of a live orchestra.

The "Harp Style" Technique (Part 2): In the second half of the piece, we transition into a cascading harp style effect. By intertwining fretted notes with lots of ringing open strings, the guitar takes on a magical, cascading quality—making it sound like a grand harp where the notes bleed beautifully into one another.

Inside this lesson:

✅ Full Performance & Tutorial Video: A complete breakdown of the fingering choices, shifting positions, and the secrets behind the harp-style section.

✅ Printable PDF Tab & Sheet Music: Accurate notation specifically formatted for Drop D tuning.

If you want to challenge your ring-out technique and add a truly breathtaking, cinematic piece to your repertoire, this lesson is for you.

Download the tabs below, tune that low string down to D, and let's bring this beautiful soundtrack to life!
