Hi Nick, Several years ago I learned to play and sing to this Summertime 'Fingerstyle Easy Version' . In addition to this Easy Version you have provided the 'Fingerstyle' Aug 17, 2018 posting version, which is more like 'THE' original version. The melodies of these two versions are very different. It seems the songs lyrics (Summertime and the living easy...) are in the Aug 17, 2018 version, but only after the time 0:59/2:09. Yet, the entire song lyrics fit well into the 'Fingerstyle Easy Version'. On various covers, including the Gershin original version, the vocals are sung over the Aug 17, 2018 version. So, how did you come up with this 'Fingerstyle Easy Version' which well matches the vocals, but is very different from the Aug 17, 2018 music? I think both are in the key of Am. Do you have a recommended approach for combining the two. Perhaps embedding the Easy version into the Aug 17, Version at about 1min.

Hi Ernie, the first version I arranged is jazzier and more difficult to play, so I later decided to make the easier version for beginners. For the melody, I didn't follow a specific version, just the one I had in my head. My advice is to start with the easy version and then, as a variation, add the more difficult one and finish with that. This way, you'll get the listener more interested.

I am pleased to see this follow the Chords and Solo version. This is a nice and easy fingerstyle. Thanks.

Hi Nick, I really enjoyed playing this. In the tab sheet It would have been nice to see the little squiggly arrow going up like I saw in Pirates of the Caribbean example..measure 1 (011) where you play finger sliding up as opposed to plucking if that makes sense. We see it well and hea it in the video. In time this wil be obvius to me ,I guess. . I reallly enjoy your tabs/combination.

GuitarNick

Hi Rene, in this song I did not put the arrow of the "roll" effect because I do it almost on all chords, I did not want to complicate the tab with many symbols. The general rule is that on each chord you can create that effect, you decide when to use it.

Next to the title is the symbol of two quarter notes tied together = a quarter note, 3 , then an eighth note. Does this mean that for ALL the tied quarter notes , we play a longer 3/8 note then an 1/8 to get the rhythm right as in a triplet?

GuitarNick

Hi Kate the two quarter notes tied together you said are instead two eighth notes. What this marking is saying is: Whenever you see groups of 8th notes, play them as a eighth note triplets with the second note removed. It's a blues or swing time. Grazie Nick, Thanks for the much easier arrangement than your very nice but harder jazzy version that I’m still trying to master.😉

Hello there Nick. First, I'd like to say you are awesome. I have a question on the numbers beneath the tabs, can you help me read them? Thanks
