Hi Friends, this lesson is for Patrons only.

I composed  this little blues based on a single note solo, but here I added the bass notes so it has becoming a nice full fingerstyle blues solo.

Pay attention to some guitar techniques I used here; slides, hammer-ons and a blues bending at the end of the piece.

Place your wrist on the guitar bridge to mute the bass strings 6th and 5th. You'll get a full deep bass tone.

In the video I played some passages slowly so you can watch well the hand movements.

Good playing!

Regarding the notation at the the top left of the PDF; does it mean that when two1/8 notes are tied together, the timing is played as a 3/16 note then an 1/16 for the next note ? Just curious, I can play along with your video of course. 😉

Hi Kate, that is a common notation for blues melodies. It is telling you to play swing eighth notes instead of straight eighth notes. The first of each pair of eighth notes should be a little longer and the second a little shorter, but still taking up the same total amount of time. Google swing feel eighth notes for more info. If you're playing with the video you are probably already playing it correctly

Thanks Johathon, good answer, I forgot I had asked Nick the same question last time. 🙄

Tnx nick.are you usually place your little finger as an anchor on the guitar at your strumming hand?i can see at the clip that most of the time she's there. What's the rule for it in generally? Tnx and keep the good work that you are doing to us.

GuitarNick

Hi Liran, the little finger as an anchor on the guitar makes the hand more stable and eliminates tensions.

Thanks nick , so when should i use it and where not ?i learn myself to play with both methods ,any better one ?another Q - is how you mute the bass strings with your palm ?can you create a movie on that and also on the anchor finger ?thanks a lot , you are helping me so much .

GuitarNick

It's better you learn both the ways, for normal classical style arpeggios you don't have to use palm muting, for blues you have to you it on the open bass strings. I place my right hand palm on the bass strings, 6th 5th and 4th.

Thanks,so u r using little finger anchoring only for palm muting as blues?

liran m

Thank you .
