Hi Friends,

here is my fingerstyle arrangement of this popular Peruvian zarzuela. Simon & Garfunkel also recorded this music in 1970.

I used some natural harmonics here;  a harmonic is a chime-like tone produced by lightly touching a string with a finger and then removing the finger at the instant the string is plucked.

Note the small diamond to the right of the numbers in the tablature indicating a natural harmonic.

Good playing!

Lovely piece. Although a lot easier than the older version featured on your website, it is still beautiful to play!

Love the harmonic accent. Though I seem to have difficulty making the 5th fret sound bright on my nylon string classical , so I fiddle around with it on the 12th fret. Update - getting better on the 5th with practice....Thanks Nick.

A very nice piece, Nick. I hope this finds you and your family well. Our best wishes to you, your family and country. Larry Potter

Not at all Kate. Coming new lessons about the harmonics.

Hi Nick. Your weekly songs help me know you are well :-). I finally got my Harmonics down on the 5th fret of my classical. I could only play them on my acoustic at first. Harmonics are a nice challenge sound. I saw some you-tube videos for this song having an intro with tons of Harmonics in it around the 12th to 19th fret. It would be nice if you could make an advanced harmonics INTRO lesson to this Song The ones I saw were like 8 or 9 measures. Just a thought. Take care.

Hi Rene, I'm working about more harmonics lessons, natural and then artificial. I'm in lockdown but safe.

Peter .

Thank you Nick, I love your arrangements and I play many of them daily. Hope you are well and thank you for saving me from these weeks of solitary confinement ;)
