Hi friends,

here is a new good fingerstyle lesson for beginners, the chord progression is really nice.

Pay attention to the right hand fingering: pima mami.

Good playing!

It would be helpful and instructional if you would spell the chord directly above the beginning of each arpeggio in the pdf. This is common in most guitar tablature. Many thanks.

GuitarNick

Hi Charles, I do that for the songs arrangements but for fingerstyle exercises that is not good, in fact they normally don't move on normal chords.

Maxine Lowry

Wow, either I am improving or that was easy (especially after lesson 14), but what ever the case it is very pretty and I enjoyed learning and playing it with you. Thanks Nick.

Brian Batko

Do you have to have longer fingernails on your right hand to do this?

Luiz Miranda

Great exercise! You finished the song with A5. I'm finished with A5 (two times) and A (two times)

John Lindsey

Thank you for another beautiful finger exercise. I was wondering if there are advantages to the picking sequence p-i-m-a-m-a-m-i versus p-p-i-m-a-m-i-p? I was led to believe that, in general, the P covers 6, 5, and 4 strings, the I - 3rd, M - 2nd, and A - 1st.

GuitarNick

Yes in general the P covers 6, 5, and 4 strings but in this case the fingering p-i-m-a-m-a-m-i is better. If you use p-p-i-m-a-m-i-p you will be forced to use three consecutive times p-p-p, that is not good for the sound.

John Lindsey

I see (hear) your point. Thank you the clarification.

Alex

Quick question: What are your thoughts about using the pinky to pluck the high E string? When I tried this it worked very well, but I don't want to form bad habits.

Alex

p.s. Thank you for the exercise.

GuitarNick

Hi Alex, the pinky is too short and too weak than the others fingers, so it's better if you don't use it.

Telmo Mendes

Could we use finger "a" in the hight E? For me using "m" it's kind of weird...
