Here we are at the beginning of another year! And this year, in particular, has a chance to be something truly memorable. Nintendo's next console is launching, so many games that were delayed from last year should be shipping this year, and PlayStation 5/Xbox Series X should be htting their full stride!

Our resident financial expert, Michael Pachter, is here to answer your questions about all of it! We've recently launched a new version of his show called Pachter Factor Live where he tackles the biggest topic from the week. It makes the show much more timely for you, but we still need your questions for the second episode of the show each week. Here are some headlines from the last month or so to get the juices flowing:

The Switch 2 is about to unveiled or may be unveiled before we record these new episodes on Friday. Gacha and free-to-play games like Infinity Nikki and Zenless Zone Zero are exploding, third-party publishers like Square Enix are moving away from console exclusives going forward, a couple developers have announced they will not include social or political topics in their games, rumors are suggesting that all future Microsoft-developed games will be Xbox timed exclusives at best, Assassin's Creed Shadows keeps getting delayed as Ubisoft looks for a buyer, it was just revealed that recent Call of Duty games cost $700 million to make while sales are slowly declining, the recent Indiana Jones game has convinced Disney to possibly continue the franchise inside video games, and so much more!

As usual, try to ask some questions that will be interesting both now and a few weeks from now. If you want a more thorough refresher of all the big stories from the last month use this link:

As we begin a new year, and the 10th season of Pachter Factor, we want to take a minute to thank everyone who has ever asked a question for the show. The show has existed longer than its predecessor, Pach-Attack!, and that wouldn't be possible without all of you!

Hey Pach! How do you think the administration change affects the video game industry? Will there be potentially more M&A now than under the Biden administration?

Hi Pachter, With all the layoffs in the last few years, do you think the game industry has reached its peak in terms of jobs count? Do you think the current gigants will continue to keep the majority of the revenue or will people get tired and be more willing to try new things?

Hey Pachta, Happy New Year 2025! You’re looking good ;) Since the heart and soul, Shūhei Yoshida, and the father of PlayStation, Ken Kutaragi, have more or less left the business, what was/is your relationship with PlayStation over all these years? What influence do they have on the brand today? How has the brand changed over time? I'm sure you have some fun stories for us :) Big Fan. Yours truly Robert

Howdy Pach-Man, You sometimes hear about publishers, especially Nintendo, having games fully complete and sitting on them for a long time before release, sometimes even years. Do the studios have any say in this instance or are they at the mercy of the publisher? I suppose for first party teams it’s less of a big deal than it would be for an outside studio contracted to develop a game.

Pach, how long until we see a newer version of the Switch 2 with the full screen utilized? From Switch 1 to the OLED, it was over 4 years. Do you think Nintendo will move faster this generation with its skus?

Hey Pach! With the recent news that Sony has cancelled another two live services games ( Blue Points God of War live service and Bends live service game ) What are the finical repercussions? Will this further significantly delay their output for the next 3-4 years?
