Now that we've launched Pachter Factor Live we don't ask for questions anywhere near as often as we used to. In fact, this is just the third call for questions in 2025! While it undoubtedly makes the show more timely to tackle the big topic of each week with the new spinoff show, your opportunities to get into the show are much more limited. So make sure you get your questions in when you get the chance!

We're coming off Not E3 2025 where hundreds of games were revealed alongside the Xbox Handheld. Nintendo Switch 2 just launched a week ago and surely you have questions around that. Xbox just announced its first $80 game (The Outer Worlds 2). Layoffs continue to happen, Trump's tariffs are throwing everything into chaos, and much more.

It's a great time to be picking the brain of our resident financial expert, Michael Pachter! He's here to answer your questions about all of it! As usual, try to ask some questions that will be interesting both now and weeks from now. If you want a more thorough refresher of all the big stories from the last month use this link:

Thanks to everyone who takes a minute to ask a question or two. The show has now existed longer than its predecessor, Pach-Attack!, and that wouldn't be possible without all of you!

ALBERG

Hey Pach. Now that Microsoft with it's deep financial resources owns Bethesda should they treat the next Elder Scrolls as a flagship game with an "unlimited" budget and development time aka the GTA treatment. Thanks. -Alberg

Hello Pach! I can't speak to any current data, for 2024 it's been reported that game sales are down across the board, and that older games are consistently on the top 10 games played, over newer games. Do you think this is a statement on the quality of newer games? Or is this a sign a large part of the gaming industry is basically creating games that aren't appealing to the gaming audience, regardless of quality?

Hey Pach, verrrrry long time listener, first time question asker. If you don’t mind sharing, what’s your day in a life as an analyst like and what made you become one? Also, was there ever a different field you wanted to work in? Sorry if this has been asked before. Thanks - JAM

Do you think the Switch 2 is overpriced? I’m always a bit taken back when people expect PS5 level performance from a sleek handheld under $500. Will the new Xbox ROG handheld be more powerful? Possibly. It will also be more expensive, bulky, no detachable controllers, no dock, etc. If the Switch 2 had an OLED screen, and higher specs, I assume it wouldn’t be as affordable or as sleek. Can’t have it all.

Hey Pach. Given the seeming instability of the video game industry right now, is there a world in 10/20 years where consoles are gone? It seems unthinkable to me, but some of the industry seems to be going that way.
