Hey everyone,

Some of you who have been with us from the beginning will likely remember this happening, but a lot of you probably won't. Back in 2016 after SIFTD just really got on its feet my Dad and Sister were killed in a tragic car accident. Today is the 10th anniversary. While it might be a good idea to dive into work and crank this show out today to help forget about it, I need to engage with my family and pay respects to the two of them.

It has been extremely difficult dealing with the loss of half my family in the blink of an eye, but I've also learned to appreciate every single day that I wake up. I used to take time for granted. Now I feel like doing that disrespects the memory of Kellie and my Dad. I've also learned to prioritize spending time with the people I love. This is why I often say on GameFace and SSS that you should spend more time with face-to-face communication if you can. There's no getting it back in the end.

Creating The Shane Satterfield show every week is a ton of fun (and work) that takes almost two days to complete. I love doing the show, but I simply don't have the time and my heart's just not in it right now. I really hope you can understand and I also hope none of you ever have to go through what my family has gone through. Kellie Christine Satterfield and Harry "Satch" Satterfield rest in peace.

Shane

Being more social with family good advice. I've been trying to call my parents more often this year.

I'll take this reminder every year over an episode. Of course we'd rather you and your family hadn't gone through this but sometimes, the hard reminders, the memories and being there for your Mom are tough but tough isn't always bad. Thinking of you dude, thanks for sharing as always.

So sorry for your loss Shane, and I totally agree with your message about appreciating the time we have. Please take all the time you need to be with your family and pay your respects to your loved ones.

What a tragedy! Life is precious, fragile, and far too short. Cherish every day, appreciate the people you love, and never take a single moment for granted. Forever loved. Forever missed. Never forgotten. ❤️ We are with you in our thoughts and sending you lots of love and strength.
