We're ready for another round of Pachter Factor episodes and oh my has it been a busy last month or so! We need your questions!

Just in the last month the deal for Microsoft to buy Activision/Blizzard went through, VGC reported that the successor to Switch will release in late 2024 and will be another handheld/console hybrid, the PlayStation 5 has fallen behind the PS4 in sales numbers, Baldur's Gate III became the highest-reviewed game ever, a lazy port of Red Dead Redemption was announced, the PlayStation 5 Slim was kind of leaked, Assassin's Creed Mirage will be 1/5 the size of Valhalla, the handheld PC market is quickly becoming crowded, Square Enix is disappointed in Final Fantasy XVI sales, Take-Two is adding a second $20 season pass to NBA 2K24, and so much more!

As usual, try to ask some questions that will be interesting both now and a few weeks from now. If you want a refresher of all the big stories from the last month use this link:

Thanks as always to you guys for making the show happen. Without you there is no Pachter Factor! It's only as good as your questions.

Dear Pachter, so many things to talk about like how Sony is 1 for 2 on TV shows with just how bad twisted metal was, then there's the fear of borders gate 3 and how this is the industry standard like the Barbie movie is to Hollywood. No my question is about the recent Evo 2023 and how it was a huge success 👏. So huge that the mayor and governor came to show to declare this day foward shall be known as Evo day. That this is the biggest esport in gaming history. What does it mean for Vegas pr esports in general? Are we here at the next level? We've talked about how they want to make over watch a national sport for quite some time now. Of course they will use the current arenas for basketball and hockey for such events. Also how is it going to work? Will the publisher get a cut for rights of the games and of course the privilege to broadcast them nation wide/world wide? Will twitch be a key factor or be left out and things end up like ESPN, fox sports, Comcast sports? It's rather a interesting time to be a gamer and no longer are is it a waste of time but a career now.

Hey Pach! With the success of Baldur's Gate 3, this has led to a very heated debate in the game dev and journalist communities. Devs seem to be against using BG3 as a new bar to set standards with, but at the same time BG3 has sold very well. Do you think these sales will cause other companies to try to follow in BG3's footsteps, or will they continue doing what they've been doing for a while and hope everyone just forgets about BG3?

Pach, what do you think of the rumors of Apple potentially acquiring Disney in the future? Would this be a deal too big to approve?

Come on, folks. Four questions? Our patrons can do better than that.

Hey Pach! As the Microsoft deal seemingly rolls to a close, what do you think of the full deal in the context of the regulatory fight? Will this deal still be worth it to Microsoft? Does the difficulty of this deal chill the prospects of other large industry M&A deals?

Hey Pach, the photos in the link were taken at the Target across the street from Sony USA in San Mateo. What is the point of all this empty shelf space? It reeks of a systemic issue of not enough software. Both PlayStation and Xbox are empty shelves. I don't understand. https://photos.app.goo.gl/SveCGKDXBfZ4eRoD7 -Evan Adams Foster City, CA
