v.0.30 Progress Report (V) - Technical Work (Patreon)
Content
My mindset wasn’t ready to do creative work, but I wanted to work in the game so I could clean my mind of my wife’s situation for a while. So, I did technical work. I translated the scenes that were already written and tested, I went bug-hunting for some reported things in previous seasons (basically, gallery issues), and fixed some inconsistencies in the script.
The render I just sent you as a Thank You has been the first creative work I was able to do since we got the bad news.
About the news, they aren’t as bad as they seemed. Don’t get me wrong. They are bad. But bad wording produced a misunderstanding that made us think that they were even worse. When the transplant doctor says, “If you don’t enter the transplant program in the next year, there won’t be anything we can do”, the first thing you think is that my wife will be dying in around a year without a transplant, especially when another doctor just told you 10 minutes before that she’s basically fucked up.
Fortunately, what the transplant doctor meant is that, once she reaches 71 years old, the transplant program closes for her (they don’t do lung transplants in Spain beyond 72 years). They can’t give her a life expectancy right now, but they are talking about long-term medication plans. When the doctor said, “In five or ten years, we could have something better”, we were puzzled. He saw it. We asked the correct questions and felt the weight lift from our chests.
Summarizing, my wife has started a new treatment, and they have upgraded the oxygen system she’s connected to. She’s starting to feel better (although the doctor said that she shouldn’t, but the placebo effect and the weight lifted from our chests also help). In what she’s feeling better, I can swear, is in her mood. She’s not in a dark and depressive mood anymore. She sees hope at the end of the road. With limitations and not being able to return to her former life, but she sees a future now.
I will return to working on the update shortly (I want to start before the weekend), so I hope the next Progress Report has better news for you.
That’s all. Thanks for your patience and comprehension.
