v.0.32 Progress report (VI) (Patreon)
Content
This has been another highly productive week with some interesting milestones.
TL;DR: It’s day 42 of development. I added to the update ~5,000 words, 289 still renders, and 31 animations with 6,070 frames this week. I also tested four scenes and have three more written. All the animations for the update are done. I need to write three scenes and render the stills for six scenes to finish the update. The update is over 32,200 words in English (31,600 in Spanish), has over 2,400 dialogue lines, 1,672 still renders, and 51 animations with 13,538 frames.
I started with the rendering of scene #12, and I tested #11 and #12. Then I spent some time with the remaining animations, so they could start rendering while I was writing some scenes. But I thought, what if the animations didn’t look as good as I thought, and I need to rewrite the scenes where they are used? So, I decided to write the rest of the scenes. Four scenes (#16, #18, #19, and #20) for around 4,300 words. And the animations were still rendering. But the single animation needed for #17 was done, and after some tweaking and re-rendering it, it was usable, so I wrote #17. ~5,000 words in five scenes. Then I started posing those scenes and only had time to finish the two easiest to pose (#17 and #19). 289 stills this week. While the stills were rendering, I made the videos from the single frames. When the stills finished rendering, I tested the two scenes. And when I finished testing, I started to write this report.
Sometimes, developing a game is like putting together a puzzle, and I make the most of the time when I can't use one of the computers by doing other things.
And I was talking about milestones earlier. With the work in this update, the game (as a whole) will surpass some interesting milestones (for a number nerd like me) in every category I keep track of:
· 900,000+ words in English.
· 850,000+ words in Spanish.
· 65,000+ dialogue lines.
· 45,000+ still images.
· 900+ animations.
· 150,000+ animated frames.
· 200,000+ total renders.
· 1,500+ days of development since the first release.
And that’s all. Back to work.
