Apple recently is putting pressure on Patreon to adopt an different in app purchase system that would result in Apple charging an extra 30% fee on pledges made via iOS devices. I want to do a quick poll about how many of my users have iOS devices for Patreon so I can come up with a meaningful way of preventing extra costs being passed on down to you. Please fill this quick poll and in the comments below let me know how you use your iOS device for Patreon content so I can more easily come up with a guide to avoid these extra fees from Apple. Thank you.

I keep trying to vote and it keeps undoing my vote a half second later? But I do not use apple iOS.

I have push notifications set to my favorite creators (including you) and browse/view patreon on my iPhone through the iOS app.

Drew

I use an iOS device but pretty much never use the app, I just have the app for push notifications. I almost always visit Patreon through Google Chrome. I heard about the 30% thing and I’m wondering if people pay/sign up through a web browser rather than the app if that could be a good solution to avoid the fees.

I use the iOS app, BUT I make purchases on my PC just like I do for multi platform games because Apple (and Google) take a cut of every transaction driving up prices.

Sub_Woofer

I interact with Patreon solely on my iPhone. I usually use the app, but I will often use Safari, because links in Patreon emails take me to my web browser instead of the app.

Rennie the Robit

Like a lot of the others, I HAVE an iOS device but I only really subscribe through PC methods to avoid this very issue.

Alex Hawk

IOS but don’t have the app

solkat

i use the app on my iphone, but i think i started the pledge through my laptop?

IOS but not the app, the website actually helps peeps bypass the fee if ya don’t use the app

Matthew C Snow

I occasionally use the ios app but I use my computer most of the time

I use my IPhone. What is the deal?! I use the Patreon site. Despise big brother apps that track and gather every bit of information off of everybody’s phone and sells it. This is Absolute INSANITY!!! Not pleased. How on Earth are they Justifying this? Need a new phone. Apple is two seconds away from losing a customer. SICK OF APPLES OVERPRICED CRAP!!!

Logovore

Fuck Apple from an Apple fanboy

Katie Trotter

I use my iPhone or iPad, but I don’t have the patreon app installed, I navigate to the website 😅

HI. I, like Katie collect my MP3 files from Patreon via my computer, but then play them locally on a variety of devices including Ipads etc. I have to say that in the current world, Apple is the greediest company. Just look at the rediculous costs of their devices, and they are only a tiny bit better that Samsung IMHO. My vote is to dump Apple entirely!

Rachel Weiner

I always use the iOS app. If a file looks good, I’ll listen to it first, then download it for my playlists if I like it. The website has no support for downloading things...

fitotelmata

I will probably turn off my subscription and resubscribe on desktop so that they do not take a cut of what's yours

Deeperman

If everyone unsubscribed from there OIS device and resubscribed from a browser would that help you?

Fantem

for adding subscriptions? Laptop. for consuming? Both.
