A little test run for the WOR "novelization" (Patreon)

On the Bridge of the First Order Dreadnought Eclipse, Paxton Fell looked out of the main view-port, and saw the glowing blue marble floating in the starry expanse of space, and found it beautiful.
This planet was, after all, one of the few measly thousand words with the perfect balance of sunlight, gravity, and water that made it deal to sustain all kinds of life, sapient and otherwise. Amidst the trillions of stars and countless dead rocks across the galaxy, that made D'Qar precious beyond belief.
And he knew it was doomed. The battle was sending burning debris streaking down to the surface, which ignited the air and trailed plasma. The pieces of Durasteel wouldn't melt fast enough. The impacts would be disastrous.
“Captain, are we within range?” asked an orange-haired, young man in his late 20's clad in the dark long coat of a First Order officer. He bore General's pips on his collar, and matching insignia on his red armband, right under the Sunburst and Hexagon. This was Armitage Hux, and he was doing his best to project authority, in spite of his youth... but compared to the older Onderonian man he was talking to, he was failing miserably. Wrapped in a dark blood-striped captain's uniform, Captain Paxton Fell's taller, broader frame commanded far more respect at rest then Hux could ever hope to achieve during his most impassioned rally speech.
“Not just yet, General,” lied Paxton. In spite of being a veteran of the Galactic Civil War, he had never approved of Base Delta Zero: the complete glassing of a planet's surface. Using planetkillers simply crossed a line: The Galaxy may have been vast, but there were only so many planets capable of sustaining life...
Boys and their toys, he thought. The veteran could see the eagerness in Hux's eyes. The young general had said he wanted to make an example of D'Qar, terrorize the Resistance fleet into surrendering... but he knew better. Hux had discovered yet another piece of ancient alien tech and he desperately wanted to see its purposed fulfilled, the sadistic impulse of an overeager young man, compensating for some deficit.
I should have never started the Midway project, he thought. I should have known that Hux would take a perfectly fine Supercarrier design and kriff it up with a dreadnought-class particle cannon.
He looked at the holographic pit at the center of the Bridge, displaying the state of the battle ahead of them. What a kriffing mess, he thought. We should be attacking in waves, not...
Hux took one look at the holographic battle playing out, and turned to the bridge's comms officer. “Order our escorts to move in and deploy their fighter wings!”
… en masse. Paxton knew Hux was sending good pilots to a meat grinder, but he knew better than to protest – Hux was a politician with connections, and he could make Paxton's life very difficult.
He watched as their escort — Two immense Resurgent-class Star Destroyers — moved into optimal gun range, that sweet spot where both turbolasers and ion cannons could be brought to bear, as swarms of TIE/FO space superiority starfighters were practically being vomited out of their hangar bays. Between the Resistance cruiser's own plasma flak clouds and their X-wings and A-wings on point-defense, Paxton knew that the pilots flying out weren't coming home. In fact, half of the First Order's fighters had already been lost, along with two out of 8 of the Star Destroyers committed to the attack. The Resistance, so far, had lost two cruisers and not even a tenth of their fighters. At tight defense only Admiral Ackbar could organize.
Paxton eyed the holograms again, and his well-trained eye found something interesting amidst the chaos: a single X-wing, outflying and outgunning the TIE/SFs caught in the melee. If only they could take that Resistance Ace out, perhaps they could turn the tide of the battle....

“WHOOOOOOOOO-HOO! Another one bites the dust!”
Poe let out his cry of victory over the Resistance's primary frequency as the TIE/SF in his holographic sights burst into flame and crashes on the hull of a Star Destroyer.
