For a wild card I would love to hear y’all’s thoughts on Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. Between the two choices given I’d personally go for Idiocracy.

Mychael M

Movie feels like it was made for the boyz. George Harrison, Creepy Crawlies, and Looney Tunes gags

hankey65

Do Magnolia by Paul Thomas Anderson, since I think you said neither of you seen it, or Kinds of Kindness from Yorgos since we all need to see Shawn react to it after liking Poor Things.

Hey Rocco you're right on the money with the consumption theme. Zach Cregger talked about in a press interview that Alex and his parents are written from his experience of having alcoholic parents. A parental role reversal, "Gladys" comes to town and suddenly the kid is taking care of the parents. I love this film, probably in my top ten of all time now. Also I say Idiocracy or to stick with horror, Dog Soldiers

Austin

Yes i came here to suggest Magnolia! It was an influence on this movie and is just amazing in every way imo. It’s a really beautiful movie

Noah Neyland

Hey, since yall are Cregger-heads now, why not do Barbarian?

Kino Kowboy

I show up around 5-10 min after start time cause i’ll still have 15-20 minutes to get snacks and use the bathroom but i don’t have to see every single trailer

Turbo

Good time to do Southland Tales!

julsy

Saw this movie today - Rocco's comment about 'pointing fingers but it's coming from inside the house' was such a good way of summarising a central theme of the movie. Thanks Rocco; brains AND brawn.

Oooh this is another great choice

Ellipsoidz

I feel like a recent horror film that was kinda slept on was “Heretic” starring Hugh Grant. I found it incredibly engaging and interesting and would love to hear your thoughts on it. The horror balance, like “Weapons”, feels just right. Also since you both loved “Past Lives”, I was wondering what you’d think of Celine Song’s new movie, “The Materialists”.

Spenerico

Heretic was a ride

Cody W

TBH I'm really sick of hearing about Idiocracy.

Huhliza

Would like for you guys to watch Midsommar

Cooper Willie

Would be cool if you check out my favorite Chase movies of either “vanishing point” or “dirty Mary crazy Larry”

Bancho Ltd

Please do anime month again! My recommendation is On-Gaku: Our Sound. I think it's one you would both appreciate, please check it out.

sophia c

If you do anime month, I recommend Mind Game by Masaaki Yuasa, it's my favorite movie! Also On-Gaku: Our Sound as recommended by Sam in the comments here is sooo great

26miles

They have an episode on mind game already

sophia c

Oops don’t know how i missed that, excited to check it out now :) thank u!

a25luxray

Lets get back to grass roots of this Podcast. SNL movie Review. Watch MacGruber!

Neil Steffens

If you guys use AMC theaters, they do tell you how much time the trailers are. Plus, the seats are assigned. I purposely get to the theater late because I value my time and don't want to watch the same trailers over and over again (I see at least one movie per week). I am never late to the start of the actual movie.

Tanner

Yes before you even buy the ticket. It’s nice that they do that but it’s still annoying that there’s 30 minutes of trailers. So I leave at the showtime start and only sit through 10 minutes of trailers.

CasualVitality

That trauma theory - is actually kind of the case, not in terms of the plot but as an insert by the director. Cregger said Gladys taking over the house and it becoming a threatening, unfamiliar place was a reflection of what his life became once his alcoholic father got really bad.

Clay

Another anime move for your consideration: Sword of the Stranger

BigBabyChips

Would love to see you guys over Eddington, be nice to hear Derrick talk about it too I know he had strong feelings about it
