How about a double feature?! This week we FINALLY get to The Invite and discuss whether this movie was just a little too silly for its own good. Then, to kick off October properly, we’re talking Resident Evil and asking the very important question: Is this the truest video game adaptation we’ve ever seen?

Unrelated but could Shawn please do a watch along of one of the Padre games, would genuinely love that!

I’m with Shawn on The Invite — I am not a Seth Rogen fan but I thought the movie worked because it understands he’s actually insufferable. HE thinks he’s funny but I had only disdain for how he was acting. The sex comedy bits were a little broad but the dynamics of how a couple this far into their relationship argues and throws little passive aggressive jabs at each other felt very grounded (in my opinion).

I feel like for The Invite people that have not been in a long term relationship don't get it. People that do, think its the funniest thing ever. The more I hear Rocco talk about it makes me think he was thinking it would be a completely different movie.

Cody W

I like how I posted my comment and hit the end of the review and now I'm a moron. I'll leave my comment up but so glad Rocco thought the same thing.

Cody W

Although no one mentioned how hot Penelope Cruz was.

Y'all should check out The Wailing. Super good Korean horror film. Side note: would be sweet to see Shawn's take on Princess Mononoke!

baldingmariolover

actually had to skip to the RE discussion because Rocco's take on the Invite was so grating

SlavicGold

Man that resident evil movie sounds like crap, "did you know video game guns can miss? and doors are locked? Yeeeeaaa video games!!"

Ryan Nguyen

Princess Mononoke is scary. Shawn, make things right.

Have you guys done The Host? Made by same guy as Parasite, but it’s a monster movie. Not horror persay but could be a Halloween season movie. I loved it Edit: The Host (2006) Dir. Bong Joon Ho

For a Japanese horror movie do One Cut of the Dead. Japanese zombie movie but don’t look into it before watching it.

It would be interesting to see you guys do a Movie Club on Friendship since that's another comedy films which walks the line of humour and uncomfortable moments

Lanzeroo

Rocco being one of the 4 Kings of Comedy does not like comedy movies

Ruben Soto

If you guys wanna do a great J-Horror please review Audition!!!

poppopbang

The Wailing, Gonjiam, Noroi

Lanzeroo

Would love to see Ju-on The Grudge as the J-Horror movie and maybe a zombie movie too we gotta give them some spotlight too

The resident evil ending left me torn. It didn’t ruin the movie for me but I just feel conflicted. It fits for resident evil but there’s just something it lacked.

One thing I'm disappointed the boys didn't touch on with The Invite (and something I think would have changed Rocco's view) is that it's heavily implied Hawk and Pina are not real people, and are rather figments of Joe and Angela's imagination. That's why Hawk and Pina are so exaggeratedly weird, that's why Hawk and Pina disappear mysteriously once the heavy emotional burdens have been unearthed, that's why Hawk and Pina are the physical and emotional embodiment of their desires and envy, etc

Rocco complaining about Rogen in the Invite is how I feel any time an Umbrella character was on screen in RE. It's an 11/10 movie for me but the Umbrella stuff takes it down to like a 7, you could have cut most of their bits (and 100% of the guy in the van) and it would have been such a better movie.

Rocco is 1000% right about the RE movie, I think the ending fits perfectly, the courier survived for such a long time when in reality he was never gonna survive for that long so him turning into a monster is pretty on point and makes sense and leaves it open to a possible sequel even though it doesn’t need one. Anyone not liking the end have no idea what they are talking about.
