The game DOES USE/APPLY Playstation HDR Calibration app settings.

Spider-Man 2 has a very good HDR implementation as it will correctly apply the system level HDR settings along with perfect black levels and great highlights.

The game will also provide additional Brightness/Contrast sliders but I recommend to leave it at their default 50 value as they already provide a correct exposure/gamma.

BONUS:

Use the FIDELITY + 120hz + VRR + Uncapped Framerate mode on PS5: as this will retain the highest visual quality while providing the smoothest experience possible (between 40-50fps with VRR smoothing out the unlocked framerate)

Disable Chromatic Aberration and Film Grain: in order to improve image clarity

HDR aside, I thought the color settings on my display had been accidentally oversaturated but then I realized Insomniac just went for a much more colourful look this time around. City is quite vibrant, especially during the daytime.

So which vrr mode is better, smooth or uncapped? When paired with fidelity mode on a 120hz screen

Have you tested Dolby atmos on this game? The ps5 now supports it on supported games and Spider-Man 2 supports it

Great job by Insomniac!

This game needs FSR3 support very soon which will boost frames significanly and render at higher image quality.

Hey @P40L0, there is a new, remastered version of Spider-Man 1 for PS5. Do you have HDR Optimized Settings for that game as well?

I have a Bravia 9 Mini-led tv and this game seems too dark at default 50 value. I play in a completely dark room and the blacks seems crushed at default. I have the ps5 pro calibration screen at 14 clicks, 23 clicks, and 1 click up on the last screen which matches what my tv can do 850 nits full screen, 3000 nits 10% window, and 0.00002 nits black. I also have tone-mapping off when doing the ps5 calibration and I play with it off also. Should I calibrate the screen with gradation preferred on instead of "off"? or adjust the in-game settings? I have brightness at 55 and contrast at 35 or 40.
