PANEL 1/ART: Close up on a gym teacher.

GYM TEACHER: GYM CLASS!

PANEL 2/ART: We see the three girls outside on the field, lazing around in a shady corner

while wearing gym uniforms. Around them we see other students playing soccer or jumping rope. The grass on this field is not the most well maintained, and on all sides it is surrounded by woods. The sun is unbearably bright, and all the students seem to be shielding their eyes from it.

INGRICH: DOES THE GYM TEACHER ALWAYS SHOUT “GYM CLASS” AT THIS SCHOOL

FUCHSIA: PRETTY OFTEN.

MOLLY: WHY DOES IT HAVE TO BE SO HOT?

PANEL 3/ART: Close up on Ingrich, with Fuchsia visible beside her, listening

INGRICH: I WISH IT WAS CHILLY IN SEPTEMBER, LIKE ON TV.

PANEL 4/ART: Close on an excited Fuchsia, who stands up quickly!

FUCHSIA: OHH IDEA IDEA IDEA!

FUCHSIA (2): IF YOU CAN USE MAGIC TO MAKE IT LESS SUNNY, WE’LL LET

YOU INTO THE SOCIETY.

PANEL 5/ART: Medium on all three girls. Molly is still sitting, picking at grass,

while Fuchsia and Ingrich are standing.

INGRICH: BUT I DON’T KNOW ANY MAGIC YET!

FUCHSIA: EVERYBODY STARTS SOMEWHERE.

INGRICH (2): WHAT’S THE TRICK?

PANEL 6/ART: Close up on Fuchsia, behind her a fanciful illustration of the

might of nature-- ocean waves crashing, giant mountains, et cetera. Ingrich stands awkwardly off to the side.

FUCHSIA: MAGIC IS NOT A TRICK, IT IS A NATURAL ENERGY. IT IS BORNE OF THE ETCHED

TRACKS OF THE STARS AND THE ICY DEW OF THE MOUNTAIN MORNING. IT IS THE CALLOUS WIND THAT WHISTLES BETWEEN DARK, EMPTY SPACES.

INGRICH: OK

PANEL 1/ART: Fuchsia picks up a stick from the ground.

FUCHSIA: IF YOU REALLY HAVE POTENTIAL AS A WITCH, THEN YOU’LL START BY

ESTABLISHING A BOND WITH SOMETHING FROM NATURE.

PANEL 2/ART: Medium. Fuchsia hands off the stick to  Ingrich

INGRICH: NEAT STICK.

FUCHSIA:  NOW, BE THE STICK

PANEL 3/ART: Ingrich closes her eyes tight to focus, as Fuchsia lays a hand on her shoulder, her

other hand outstretched in oratory fervor.

INGRICH: I’M A STICK

FUCHSIA: YOU SURE ARE! RAISE YOURSELF UP TO THE SUN AND EXPRESS YOUR

REQUEST TO THE FABRIC OF THE UNIVERSE!

PANEL 4/ART: Extreme close-up on Ingrich’s eyes shut tight.

PANEL 5/ART: “Close-up” of the sun.

PANEL 6/ART: Extreme close-up on Ingrich’s stick, her fist clamped tight around it.

PANEL 7/ART: An even closer look at the sun. It twinkles.

PANEL 8/ART: In a tall panel, we view the sky from behind the three girls’ backs. The sun

hurtles towards them and lands on the ground, and they cover their faces in fear.

SFX: WH-H-HAM

PANEL 9/ART: The camera lays on the ground, pointed up now at the girls’ faces. In the

foreground, on the grass, is the sun! It appears, surprisingly, to be a white ball of fire no larger than a watermelon or a pumpkin. The grass touching the ball is singed, with embers floating off it. The sky is suddenly dusky. The girls look on in shock.

Did you change the plan for page 6 while drawing it? The script says 6 panels but there are only 5, so towards the end it seems to go out of sync.

Yeah, one of the weird things about working from a script with delineated panels is I sometimes read the script and I'm like... "Why would I break the panels like that" and choose to break up/ consolidate them. In this case, I combined panels 3 and 4 because I saw no reason to break the dialogue up like that!
