i dont think its ever confirmed, but I believe (and most people do) that the marks on overhauls skin are sort of a psychosomatic symptom of his germophobia and so getting all dirty and bloody from fighting makes him break out into hives/rashes i understand why a lot of reactors get frustrated with eri going back but i do think its important to remember that shes just a scared child with zero hope thanks to her life with overhaul.. and all shes seen so far is the heroes losing and the people fighting for her getting terribly injured and nearly dying, so it makes sense that she isnt gonna have a lot of hope rn - she's seen what overhaul is capable of and the fact is that the heroes really ARE losing to him, so if she thinks she can save them by going back (however naive it may be) shes going to because she thinks its hopeless and doesnt wanna see them get hurt anymore for her
