So here it is, i like how the sketch turned out. Those that follow my SFW patreon already know i am trying to get more fisheye perspective thing going on, it can make several images look much better. But it also created a lot of problems, many which i have dealt with by now.

Also i started to upload the entire WIP chain again. Last weeks SKETCH ( https://www.patreon.com/posts/31569495 ) is now WIP with the rough sketch, regular sketch of course, lineart, flatcoloring and basic cellshading.

And this weeks WIP(this one here) also includes the rough sketch. The rough sketch is the one i draw in a few minutes to get the composition right and everything. Obviously it's not pretty on it's own, but it's always fun for me to see how this rough idea becomes a proper sketch(then lineart, then coloring etc.)

Also a reminder, since many are new here since the last time i said this(a few years ago...) IF there is something you want to see, like maybe another WIP step, maybe a WIP video or something, maybe high resolutions of these WIPs, don't be afraid to ask!

It’s always interesting to see how a piece is produced. I think I get what the fish eye perspective is, but to save my self sounding stupid, what is it? (I assumed it panel four where the subject is front and center yet you also get a lot of the background in?)

It's certainly most noticeable in the fourth panel, but what you described is not really what it is. Rather, notice how the background looks a tiny bit curved? Basically...uff, it's very difficult to explain it in words. Basically the more something is towards the border of a lense, the more it is further away from the camera, even if it technically in the same space as the rest. It's actually not something that we humans do with our eyes, and yet in all form of visual media, whether it be manga or cinema or whatever, it is used for extra effects. Almost always not noticeable.

Ah right. So I can see it and thought the purpose was to bend the scene slightly to fit more in (like expanding the Field of View), but it’s more to do with artistic and dramatic effect. It certainly works. It’s interesting though that it works given we don’t naturally see that way. I suppose it makes the manga appear as if through a camera. I imagine it makes perspective extra hard though!

Nah, there is another method if you "just" want more background in it, something i have used quite often in the past. In a 3d software it's called the "focal length" of the camera. If you increase it more and more, you would eventually get an orthographic view. Orthographic is the one where you see the background with same size as if it were directly in front of the camera. If you decrease it, the background becomes smaller and smaller if it is further away from the camera. But as you said, fisheye is just for artistic and dramatic effect.(unless you want to make a scene drawn from the point of view of a fish?^^") It's not that much harder to draw for me though, the backgrounds are done with cgi anyway, and as for the characters, i have learned to draw like that from the beginning, even if i didn't know it. I've seen other artist do it, and simply did it myself, without grasping what i actually did until now.
