This version of Buu is typically referred to as Buuhan. The naming for Vegito is a little convoluted. So how they got to it was they actually used the names Vegeta and Kakarotto (the Japanese version of Kakarot). Hence Vegito.

Yeah, that's why it was spelled Vegetto in the original Japanese version with English subs, before the English dub came out much later and they changed it and Vegito became the norm.
