Apologies for the delay!!! The plan is to post DBZ Battle of Gods and Resurrection F movies in the next few days. Still not sure if we are to skip the first 27 episodes or watch them after the movies. Thoughts?

if you’re going to be watching the movies skip the first 27 episodes please

Brandon Tyson

the movies are better in general so imo theres no reason to rewatch the series eps for it. Definitely skip to 28 😄

The beginning of Super is hella choppy if you want watch the first episode and you'll see why people say watch the movies then skip but that's up to you all if you don't mind the animation being less than good.

Brandon Wheeler

Yea deff skip and watch the movies. Small differences but nothing worth dragging it out. And animation quality better.

Ashiato

Movies are better quality. Super doesn’t have consistent animation at the beginning.

Ralsei

just watch the movies and skip the 27 eps life is short and tommorow isnt promised you don't need to waste your time on needlessly watching bad recap

OG Wreezy01

The movies are better tbh

Watch the battle of gods movie (episode 15 to 18 are optional) then the resurrection F movie, then episode 28 and onwards.

hohoho

Personally I would skip most of them, but episodes 1-2 and 15-18 aren’t technically covered by the movies, so you can watch them if you want. Don’t listen to the people saying you’ll miss context by skipping. That’s a lie. The movies came first, and nobody rewatches the retelling versions. Definitely not worth wasting 20 episodes of your life for. Most of the extra content in the retellings is either slice of life or side plots to pad the story. The movies get straight to the point and give you everything you need to know. If you enjoy filler slice of life, watch 1-2 and 15-18. They provide minor context for the movies but they’re not essential (again, they were written retroactively AFTER the movies, so they don’t contribute anything essential). If slice of life isn’t your thing, you can just skip all 27 episodes altogether.

Honestly, the movies are a better option than the early episodes.

i vote skip eps. The only content you’d be missing are the episodes that connect the two movies. and even at that point those episodes are filler and do nothing for the plot. There are 131 episodes in DBS. Editing the first 27 episodes for a smidge of context isn’t worth your time

Lifeblock Network

Pretty please skip the first 27 episodes. It isn't worth it, trust us.

Battle of Gods, then episode 15 to 18, then Resurrection of F <3

While I prefer the movies over the anime episodes, I think that it could benefit you two to watch both.

Purple Hearts

Episode 1 & 2 are not in the movies!!! Even if you watch the movies instead of the show, you should still check those out. I think you both would really love those 2 episodes.

Sir_Deathstroke

You should watch the episodes. They cover more and are actually better than the movies. The movies are too quick and not good pacing

I was on the train for skipping the episodes, but as much as I would love to just jump into the next arc following the movies I think watching the episodes would be a good watch for you both as first time viewers. As a couple others have said the episodes make for a more fleshed-out arc with better pacing than the movies. You will get to see things that the movies did not show. Though the animation isn’t the most consistent and can even be a bit jarring at times it is still watchable and should be an enjoyable experience for you guys in my opinion.

Honestly all this “extra content” people are hyping up is really not worth the 14 weeks of reliving a subpar version of these arcs. People are acting as though the anime expanded upon the lore in cool and interesting ways and puts so much stuff into context. No. It’s just a couple episodes of characters being goofy, and maybe 1 episode worth of ACTUAL meaningful content. If you’re a Dragon Ball completionist it’s fine. Lord knows I’ve watched everything Dragon Ball as ever produced. But for the sake of time… 14 weeks? Is it REALLY worth it? Y’all do what you want to do.
