A lot of Jung's psychology rests on the study of polarities in psychological expression. These have been a bit problematic for me, since his conceptualization of their opposite-ness - e.g. man and woman, dark and light, or good and evil - rests on Jung's cultural experiences. Jung would probably justify this arbitrariness by claiming that culture is some expression of the collective unconscious, and therefore as valid as any concept can be. So his psychoanalysis is self-referential and self-justifying, which as far as I can tell, and rightly so, is Popper's main issue with all psychoanalysis, like Freud's. So there are reasons to dislike Jung (and Freud), but I think throwing him out without knowing anything about him, just because your overlord Zizek told you to, is a bit stupid. To me, Jungian analysis still provides interesting, and resonating, cultural insights. Likely his model can be improved though. However I don't know much about Lacan, so I won't argue about him.
