An Important Message For Our Patrons (Patreon)

Hey Sleep Deprived Patreon, As some of you may have heard, Schlatt is taking a step back from the internet, and consequently Sleep Deprived will be winding down. On the YouTube side of things, Sleep Deprived will continue to upload to YouTube at a reduced rate for the foreseeable future. Sleep Deprived may be lowering its output, but Panda, Aztro, and Mika have excitedly been planning something for the last few months they are finally ready to share. They are starting “Banana Channel,” and will begin uploading there alongside Sleep Deprived. We’ve made a video explaining the situation here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wNgSkViKe_Y

However, we’re sure many of you are wondering what will be happening to the podcast and the Patreon. This post is intended to clarify that. We are going to continue the Patreon, however it will transition from the Sleep Deprived Patreon to the Banana Channel Patreon. We have tried to find a balance in offering something that is good quality, new and exciting that you guys might enjoy, satisfying for the community, and something that will allow us to prevent burnout. Here’s what that means: 

First, the hard thing to announce. The Sleep Deprived Podcast will continue until the end of the year, however on January 1st, after much thinking and deliberation, we have come to the heavy decision to end the Sleep Deprived Podcast when Schlatt leaves. We have had a great run, and we are so grateful to everyone that has listened and supported us throughout the years. It is thanks to you we have been able to do this show. Thank you so much. This was not an easy decision to come to at all. Some of you might remember we ran the show without Schlatt before, however this time around we feel we don’t want to continue without Schlatt. Sleep Deprived is the four of us, and going forward with the podcast without him wouldn’t feel right. We also feel having a consistently engaging podcast in the style of Sleep Deprived is difficult to continue without Schlatt. We do not want to see the podcast be run into the ground or to dip in quality. In its place, Panda, Aztro, and Mika will transition the podcast into the Banana Channel Podcast. This podcast will be uploaded twice per month to the Patreon. We feel hosting a podcast twice per month would be more manageable for us. In place of the other two podcast spots, we will also be making extended game videos of long form series play throughs and upload them twice per month. These extended game videos would have the ethos of a podcast, where we might shoot the shit as we have always done before, while giving us something else to bounce off of. Some of you have also wanted to see us complete series before, and this is how we feel we can do that without YouTube punishing us in the algorithm. Some other more minor changes: We will also be changing up the viewer call ins, and switching these to viewer Q&As. We believe this will help with the flow of the podcast. Additionally, we will be adding $15 tier patrons to a “thank you” credits roll at the end of each Banana Channel video. Sleep Deprived Reacts will remain unchanged however will now be called Banana Channel Reacts. Panda will now have a special silly segment at the end of therapy time episodes as well. We will also be giving over the Sleep Deprived discord to the community. This means it will no longer be supported by us in an official capacity, however we wanted to give it to the community rather than shut it down entirely. In its place we will be launching the Banana Channel discord, where Banana Channel patrons can hangout and go bananas. These changes will go into effect on January 1st as Sleep Deprived begins its wind down process, and Banana Channel begins its wind up process.
