Y'all, this is literally one of the FIRST reactions I ever filmed for my channel!!!

Like, this was the first day I sat down, turned on my shitty webcam, and just said, "I wanna film reactions and put them on YouTube." RiVERSE Reacts had ended, our music was on hiatus while Monroe was preparing for her treatment, I had no money & was living in my parents' house cuz I lost my apartment (subletter from hell 😭), and didn't know what the fuck to do with my life. And then I was like, "K-pop makes me happy. Talking about k-pop makes me happy. Connecting with other k-pop friends makes me happy. I don't need a huge production with RiVERSE, I just need to do what I do and post it."

And here we are, 2 years later!! This is still the space that makes me happy and helps me feel grounded. Not to mention the small amount of money that I get from your pledges actually makes a huuuuuuge difference to me, while RiVERSE is still getting our bearings and life keeps getting more expensive hahah. I'm really, really grateful for all of you!

I never posted this reaction, cuz I hugely underestimated the amount of time & effort would go into editing these videos (and my process was a LOT more clunky then - I had no idea what I was doing haha) -- I just never got around to it haha. BUT, now that I just posted my HIGHLIGHT reaction, I figured I'd dig up this footage and edit it for y'all.

Lee Gikwang... is... fiiiiiiine. 😍

BECAUSE!!!! I am super late in responding to this reaction and forgot you posted this. I first want to say thank you!!!! As I love this man so much!!! But I wanted to update you on a few things. As you know Gikwang is a member of Highlight who was known as B2ST. We can now say that B2st versus Shinee was HUGE during the second generation, which is why Gikwang and Taemin have similar singing styles, as they both love Michael Jackson. However, Shinee debuted before B2st, but Gikwang debuted solo before most of the second generation Soloist (in hindsight Taemin sounds like Gikwang but Taemin is more established as a Soloist, as B2st is regarded a tier higher than Shinee/ it balances out as I love both groups). Lee Gikwang, who has referenced Usher and R&B music several times, takes hella inspiration from R&B. Although this song isn't heavily R&B I would dare say Gikwang altered his sound slightly to fit the new aesthetic of the newer generation. If I were to equate him to anyone in the West I would say Usher or Chris Brown.
