I wrote a post on my YouTube Community tab saying reactors create reaction videos cuz we love it, since none of our videos are monetized. But I wanted to express gratitude for the people who show support through Patreon or tips; it isn't gonna put my kid through college or anything, but I just appreciate the acknowledgment & people valuing my work. I was feeling very sentimental and just wanted to gush a little bit (text version of Krying W/ Khadija haha).

At the bottom, in parentheses, I said, "I don't really promote this here but if you ever wanted to send a tip, you can do that on my Ko-fi page."

And someone took the time to write this -

Lmaoooooooo. Listen, friends. I sincerely hope none of you ever waste your time being mean or hateful on the internet. Life is too short, the world is too fucked up, and I'm sure you all have too many lovely qualities to spend your precious time trying to hurt strangers online.

But this is very much why I usually don't ever outright just say "Hey support my channel" on YouTube. People haaaaaaaate the idea of YouTubers asking viewers to support them; they think everything on the internet should be free and it's rude to want to be compensated.

So I will say it again here: I REALLY am so grateful to everyone who shows support!! Not just donations, but watching, joining my communities here, on Twitch, on Discord, commenting, liking, sharing, etc. The vast majority of the people who watch YouTube videos actually don't care about the creators behind the content at all, so y'all really are the very appreciated minority. Thank you!!!! 💚

I saw it and I was going to rage on him/her but I decided to ignore it, because this kind of people doesn't deserve even the slightest attention. You gave a proper answer, and I hope his life is happy and bright lol. Thank you for verything ❤

Same, I wrote a whole paragraph and then changed my mind because I didn’t want my mood tanked for their attitude. I did report the comment for the sake of being petty though 😂

On the Internet you honestly have to pretend to be blind/ deaf to certain things sometimes… people sucking isn’t new, but the internet sure does arm them with courage to be so much worse. Defs a reminder to continue being a kind person irl & on the net, and if they don’t have something nice to say… people should consider just moving on with their day lol, like what does being so negative add to your life?

Indeed! We get so much more out of life by choosing to be kind to others, especially on the internet where people get real goofy for no reason. Haha.

I definitely have an easy "concerned citizen, empathetic human" mode by default when someone lashes out at me personally, or a comment I've made. However, I have to really watch myself when someone is being targeted -- especially someone I care about. In that situations it's too easy to fall into my Counselor and armchair Legal Commentator mode. I try to keep it brief if defamation is involved and report them if egregious, threatening, and malicious, but otherwise just down vote their comment and move on. Good thing I don't spend too much time reading comments, and that 90% of the comments I see on most videos are positive. I must live in a bubble.

Honestly, that's a good way to go. I do read most comments on my own content, cuz I like to respond to as many as I can. BUT, there is something to be said for avoiding and ignoring cuz people get reallllllll goofy on the internet sometimes. I'm glad you are mostly in a positive bubble and I hope it stays that way! But it sounds like you have a good grasp on how you handle negativity from others, as well 💚
