Continuing our ENHYPEN Deep Dive and this show is gonna make me pull my hair out! Chiiiiiiiiiiile. I just feel for them. They're so stressed and they're working so hard and they want this so badly... I hate seeing them going through it. But I'm also BLOWN AWAY by the talent in this group, even though they're all so young!!!! Those judges scores don't even make sense to me... but I guess it makes for interesting television.

Thanks to everyone who has been joining me on Twitch; please come hang out next Wednesday so we can have anxiety attacks and cry together!

Look out for the music deep dive on Saturday! We did the full BORDER : CARNIVAL album in order, plus dance practices & some performance videos. You can look at the ENHYPEN Deep Dive document that Corey made to see what is on the list!!

I’m so sad I never make the livestream on Weds. niki and K get a kind of bad edit since they show their drama more often on camera. Something to note is that Niki, K, and Taki are pretty close as the 3 Japanese members and they switch to speaking in Japanese throughout this show without the subtitles noting it. It can kinda change the tone of a scene when you realize it because they will suddenly start sharing their opinions freely to each other in Japanese in front of the group. They are speaking to each other exclusively which allows them to be a bit more honest with their opinions in turn making them look worse than others. However, all I-Landers are saying the same things just behind closed doors and off camera in private. Essentially K is speaking “in private” to Niki via Japanese while everyone is a bit more careful with cameras. (Note: Jay is the only Korean I-lander who speaks Japanese, but everyone seems to forget this 🤪.) another thing I love about their “drama” is that they really do grow and change over the course of the show. It’s very sweet. Luckily no fans really hold onto the drama from I-Land though and let it all be in the past. I wish fans of Dream Academy could do that. I think the girls in DA seem much older than the I-landers despite being the same age…maybe that’s why fans have a harder time letting it go? It could also sadly just be misogyny. 😭

I always end up rooting for the 'losers' side, I can't do nothing about it, even if we know the result I'm like Cmon ground boys destroy the stage!! 😂

Btw I didn't think that Ni-ki was like that, can I be honest? it's a competition I get it, but still... even if K maybe is the real villain of the show ahahahah

Hmm, that's an interesting point. I did notice them speaking Japanese to each other, but I didn't consider that maybe they were less careful about what they said in front of the cameras because it was another language? Or maybe it's a cultural difference - I feel like we saw that a lot in Boys Planet with how Japanese & Chinese contestants spoke vs. the very cautious, excessively polite Korean constestants. But it definitely does make it look like they're talking down and stirring the pot a bit which I can't imagine Korean audiences liked very much. They aren't WRONG in anything they're saying, it's just suprising to see them saying it so openly. Haha they were young AND that's only one side of them so I am glad audiences are able to let this go and support all these boys. I do think the misogyny plays a big role in why they get support for female idols are punished for survival show edits for the rest of their lives hahaha. I mean, I'm not laughing cuz it isn't funny but... what else can we do? 🥴

Hahaha right?? DON'T GIVE UP, GROUND TEAM! FIGHTINGGGG! lol

It's a survival show edit. I take all of it with a grain of salt. He could likely have shared 7 different opinions, including "Wow, I really hope the best person gets the part cuz it will make the overall performance better" but they will cut all of that and only use the clips that tell their story. No real villains except MNET tbh.

Gaia Piazza

Hm yeah I guess you are right and also thinking about it, they were very young...

I love your content! ❤️♥️

I tjink overall Koreans and Japanese are more aligned culturally on their caution against sharing strong opinions. K is a bit of an outlier. He is also the oldest which might make him a bit bolder than others. K and Seon I believe are the same age/the two oldest trainees in I-Land.

I fervently, passionately hate villain editing... and I hate the people who believe that this is who they really are and leave ugly and hateful comments. These are kids. Even the 20-somethings.

100%. I feel like EVERY time a survival show comes up, we gotta give the disclaimer that these are edits created to tell a certain narrative. This isn't the whole truth and these are real human beings on the other side of these edits! Give them grace! Especially young people who just want to live their dreams
