EDIT: Thank you, Gina, for letting me know there are some clips that are repeating at the end. That happened in another section too and I don't know why. Part of the reason it took so long was cuz I had to re-watch and delete all the repeating clips. SORRY y'all. Hopefully I don't have that issue again with the next episodes!Okayyyyyy! This has taken forever, but here it is y'all! The first episode of BOYS PLANET. I can't even describe how happy I am to be watching this series. It's so much fun and they're so talented! This completely shifted my mood.

Of course, this week isn't going AT ALL the way I expected it to, but that's life, isn't it? Doing these reactions when I can is definitely a highlight and I'm so, so, so grateful to all of you for being here to share in these happy moments with me!

DONE WATCHING AND COMMENTING! Ok, I’m getting ready to get into bed and then I’ll start watching a part of it and the rest tomorrow! AND I AM BEYOND EXCITED TO SEE YOUR REACTION AND HEAR YOUR THOUGHTS 😍 I‘ll probably be adding my own comments throughout my watch through. So I’ll write a note at the beginning of the comment when I’m done watching! And btw, have I already mentioned how freaking excited I am?! 😃

Oh, I'm sad to hear that your days haven't been going as you planned. But I totally feel you, it's been similar for me as well. Just getting drowned by everything that is life and not having even just one minute for yourself! But then that's good that patreon (even though it's technically your work) can provide some time for you to put everything else beside and just take a breather! 💚 I'm totally down for a viki watch party! But I seem like the only one here who is way too many time zones away from you, so I probably won't be able to catch any lives (except if they're done on fridays or saturdays, then I don't mind staying awake hahah). 8:51 if you didn't know, minhyun was part of wannaone and nuest! 11:13 as much as I've loved bp and have been talking about it and have watched each episode when it came out, I have to shamefully admit that I just voted for the finale. And then my vote didn't even go through 🫠 21:49 and that's my number one pick, y'all. Throughout the show, I had sooo many faves, but in hindsight keita was above them all. I LOVE HIM JUST SO MUCH!!! And no spoilers about what happened to ciipher because it's tied to bp! 35:24 I think what's interesting about this panel of masters is that it reflects itself into zb1 and their skills. The previous boy group seasons of produce, if I remember correctly, had at least two rap masters. So pH-1 as the only one this time is kinda unusual. And even though zb1 has some members that can rap (but no one that is outstanding as a rapper, imo), their strenghts as a group definitely lie in the vocal and dance category! 49:04 yeah, I just had to see him do this turn and chen kuan rui immediately became one of my top picks as well 😭 1:23:07 so this was definitely scripted hahaha. The production team are actually the ones assigning the songs to the groups, and obviously this here was intentional, to give the two groups from the same company the same song, to push their k vs g group narrative. The production team also put some of the teams in g group together, according to the country for example (like kamden and jay , for the us, who just met each other on the show and then had to do the star level test together). For k group this wasn't necessary since people from the same company would form one team. But this actually put g group at a disadvantage because first random people who have never worked together suddenly had to put a performance together in a short time. And second I think i read somewhere that some trainees said that they had their evaluation song changed last minute. Also fun fact, yuehua is everglows company and they're a chinese one, so it was easy for them to have a separate group consisting only of chinese trainees! 1:31:40 so here's my hot take on the two yuehuas, which isn't really because a lot of people think the same: I thought g group did better! I don't know if they based the ranking on the potential they saw in k group rather than evaluating exactly what they were given, but k group lacked with their vocals, mainly yujin and gyuvin who barely sang. On the other hand, if you look at g group all of them had decent parts singing and rapping. Ricky did this turn right at the beginning while singing and sounded so stable. Ollie did a good job on his rap too. Brian was okay and we don't have to talk about zhang hao, he obviously did great. But I want to point something out about him: I watched all the uncut star level test performances on yt, even the ones that didn't make it into the episodes. And zhang hao was the only one performing to the camera! And it was really easy for him to spot it out as well, gave his whole performance a professionalism that I didn't see with other trainees. He was already a star just from that one performance! OKAY, so that's it for now. I have to go to sleep and finish the rest tomorrow :)

First, yes, absolutely watch My Lovely Liar (I am totally enjoying that show, just waiting for the next episode). Love your reaction to BP episode1! Absolutely so many adorable, handsome, striking and charismatic contestants on the show. Soo many fun and interesting twists and turns coming up as you see more about each person's character, background and skills. For Episode 1, of those who performed, I really loved Sung Han Bin, Jay Chang (USA), Seok Matthew, Zhang Hao, and Ricky (he gets more beautiful every episode) from what you could see of the highly edited down performances (wish they had full cam uncut footage of some of those performances available!). There were several dancers who blew me away as well (forgot how good some night 1 performances were). Honestly, everyone captured my heart a bit regardless of skill level because you could just see their emotions, hopes, dreams, and sometimes fears just play across their faces. It's worth noting, though with your busy schedule it might just remain a footnote, that 30% of the original experience involved the split out of an episode into YouTube videos on MNet K-POP channel where global fans and industry insiders were providing some insight either in the comments or in their own timely video releases about the concept of "edits", fandoms, campaigns to influence outcomes (comes with the territory), clips not aired and uncut that had some great performance and behind-the-scenes content, and just some really creative videographers putting together great "fan cam" video footage for people to watch their favorites later. Can't wait to watch episode 2 with you (it did feel from my side like we were watching together in real-time as well!)

Ohh! Dang, also (sorry) forgot to mention that -- Yaasss -- BP ep1 host Hwang Min Hyun is soooooo handsome and one of the actors that keeps pulling my focus in KDramas whenever he is onscreen (regardless if he's a lead or not). Loved him in Alchemy of Souls. Han Bin, Jay & Matthew definitely stood out to me too in the first (couple) episode(s)!!! But I'm excited to start getting to see some of the others as well as we go forward! And you're sooooo right, it's just how excited, nervous, hopeful they are through the whole process that makes you just want to support all of them! I think with shows like this, the public side of how it all plays out is a major factor. I actually think I'm glad I get to watch it without all of that, cuz it would be sooooo overwhelming. But that's definitely what makes it a cultural moment and everyone experiences the progression, the emotions, wondering how people are being portrayed, etc. together. It's really an incredible promotional tool. The k-pop industry is so brilliant, I can't even...! Glad we got to watch together!! haha

Alrighty! Time to continue watching! :) 1:52:33 awww our besties matthew and hanbin 🥹 those two together with zhang hao were like my comfort trainees/picks! They're just on another level of wholesomeness, especially when they're together! 1:55:04 isn't hanbin a literal angel? ☹️ you'll see more of his beautiful personality in the upcoming eps. And then he's also so damn talented!! 1:57:48 I knew lip j from swf and seeing her here on the show I loved her so much more! When she suggested the little dance battle, I could have kissed her hahaha. Such an iconic moment for the show!! 2:05:04 btw, for the longest time I thought hui was the eldest contestant on the show (born 1993). But it turns out ichika (the tallest one with the navy blazer, born 1992) is actually older than him. And I watched a tiktok about him which made me really sad but also admire him a lot because he's been trying for years to become an idol. Sometimes doing some acting and other things in between. But his dream, his passion has always been becoming an idol and however fruitless his attempts and effort are, he will never give up on that :( So I'm finally done now! And am so happy that you love the show just from the first eps like so many others did 💚

What happened to Ciipher? Same thing that happened to every group Rain makes. They are ignored, under-promoted, and eventually disbanded. Also, Hui being on the show I think can be chalked up to Cube not promoting their groups like they should and the groups having to promote themselves. Plus at this time Hui was just getting out of the military and the future of Pentagon was up in the air. And Gun Wook and Yujin’s ages continue to mystify me

I think they might've also thought that after yujin from clc got into kep1er in the previous season they could try their luck again and possibly get another one of their people into the winning group.

We've already kinda talked about some of this stuff in the chat, but I still love reading these comments! Re: Yuehua stages - I just watched both of them on YouTube! (Kiiiiiiinda wish I'd filmed it, but I already have enough shit to edit hahaha) I agree - I kind of find that from the stages I've seen so far, G group has a lot of stable performers, overall. Like vocals, dance, stage presence, etc. K group has people who shine in one area, but then aren't overall as strong. And the G group performances seem really COHESIVE. Like, they're already performing as one unit, which is cool to see. Ugh Zhang Hao though? Every aspect!!! You already heard me gush over Sung Hanbin & Seok Matthew 😍😍😍

Just realized I didn’t comment on here after watching the episode!! How dare I?! 😂 No,but seriously, I loved watching this again with you. I caught some things I missed the first time around and the emotion just hit me like a train. I found myself crying a few times..I’m a 33 year old man (from the hood lol) but the feeeeels let me tell you chile! As someone who sings and wishes to do it for a living these survival shows always tugs at my heartstrings in many ways. And the laughs (the 2PM Our House performances in particular) had me wheezing 😂 I can’t wait to watch the rest with you and go on this journey together! Loved your reaction and it really felt like I was right there watching it with you! Can’t wait for the next episodes, I’m excited and you’re in for such a great treat and ride~~ 😁😁 P.S who are some of your favs thus far?? I was here for Matthew, Hanbin, Jay and Yujin at this point!

I think for those of us who are artists, these kind of shows hit different. I def was getting really emotional towards the end of this video cuz it's all just so close to home 🥺 I heard 'My House' play on Spotify the other day and immediately burst out laughing!
