Hi guys! For the past week I have been uploading my reactions to Patreon directly since I have a certain amount of hours per month and I can upload the videos in better quality than in Google Drive because I have limited space there, that's why I started using Patreon. I have been told the Patreon video player lags so if it lags for you let me know and I'll upload and edit the Drive link here! (in lower quality, sorry!)

Ill-Boding Patterns- Thank you very much for another fun reaction, Sora! Overall... I do enjoy this episode. However, this episode for me is just okay. For me... This is actually my least favorite episode this season, and one of my very least favorite episodes throughout this entire show. For a number of reasons, most of which have to do with its overall backstory about Rumple and Baelfire, as well as Beowulf, whom I absolutely hate as a character throughout this episode. I normally love most of the backstories with Rumple before and after he became the Dark One. However, I honestly really don't like this backstory with Rumple, Baelfire, and Beowulf at all. Especially in regards to how Baelfire is written. And neither this actor playing Bae, or the actor playing Beowulf, are great. In all honesty... I always feel very conflicted throughout the episode, because Bae acts completely out of character from the boy, and later the man we know him to be in episodes and seasons past. And in my strong opinion... This episode actually does Bae/Neal quite a disservice. I've never cared all that much for Neal as a character overall anyways. He's always been just an okay character for me. But I never really hated him. However, this episode actually makes me hate him just a little. And it makes me like Baelfire even less as well. Of course... The memory potion Bae drinks upon Rumple giving it to him in his drink to make his son forget that he had ordered him to murder Beowulf against his will, and that he started to like the taste of Rumple's power, helps to make this backstory make a little more sense as to why Bae is written so out of character. Just not well enough, in my opinion. At least not for me. It doesn't change the fact that Neal has always had it in him all along to turn to the Darkness in order to get what he's wanted too, as we as humans all do. And yet Neal has always been so self righteous and preachy about Rumple always giving into his own darkness and the Darkness within him. Which has always been one of the biggest reasons why I have never been much of a fan of Neal/Baelfire. I've always wanted to love Neal as a character so much more than I do. Because I know he's a good man. But his wishy washy love/hate relationship with his father has always made this very difficult for me. So, this whole backstory really bothers me to be perfectly honest. And yet with this being said... I do appreciate seeing Rumple be so willing to take all of the blame for killing Beowulf and the villagers too, in order to protect his son from feeling any guilt over having forced him to kill a man and from falling even further into darkness, just as every father should do. This is also the first time we really see the Dark One do something truly selfless as the Dark One, before he ever comes to meet Belle. Oh yes... The actor playing young Baelfire is definitely not the same actor who has played Bae in past episodes throughout seasons one and two. In case you didn't see this straight away. There are actually at least three of four different actors who play young Baelfire throughout this show overall. Sadly, the original actor to play Bae... Dylan Schmid, the one good actor playing Bae in seasons one and two, had grown too much at this point to be able to continue playing Bae at this age in which he is when this backstory is taking place. Also... I absolutely hate Beowulf throughout this backstory. I just hate how his character is written to be so weak and worthless. And his actor... Torstein Bjerklund, is terrible in this role. I absolutely hate his acting throughout this episode's backstory. Plus... He is written to be a villain here in Once Upon a Time, instead of as the hero he's known to be from a classic novel I read in my British Literature class in high school. While I love that Once Upon a Time can change the role of a beloved character from a hero to a villain, or vice versa... In this circumstance with Beowulf, it just doesn't work for me at all. I really enjoyed the story of Beowulf from the classic, Beowulf. And he's written so poorly within this episode. Thank goodness he is a character written for only one episode. And now... My favorite scenes within this episode are the scenes with Killian, as he struggles deeply with his guilt upon him discovering in the ending of episode twelve, titled... Murder Most Foul, that he had been the one to kill David's father. I love the two scenes we get with Killian. First between him and Archie at Granny's. And then when he is somewhat forced to propose to Emma after she unfortunately finds the ring in his sea chest. First... I absolutely love, love, love the scene between Killian and Archie inside Granny's Diner, because for one... I just love Archie and it's always good to see him again. And two... Because most of all, I love how Killian reveals to Archie how he truly wants to be the man Emma sees him as, by telling her the truth about his past once again coming back to haunt him. And it's absolutely killing him inside. Which is clear from the pained expressions on Killian's face and the pain in his eyes. This shows us even more just how much of a hero Killian has truly become. Because he doesn't want any secrets between them. Especially one as terrible as this one. And yet... Killian is so afraid of losing Emma if he were to do so. So afraid of losing his happy ending, just as he had been afraid of losing his happy ending all throughout all of season four too. I really love and appreciate Archie's advice to Killian once again in this episode. I love how he once again assures Killian that he has truly changed and has become a hero. And not just to Emma, but to him and everyone else in Storybrooke too. I love how Archie also encourages Killian to tell Emma the truth no matter how painful him doing so will be for him, because it is the right thing to do. And how Archie then helps Killian to understand that Emma might be more understanding about what he's done than he believes she will be. And second... Killian finally finds the courage he needs to confess to Emma the truth, only for her to have unfortunately find his ring for her in his things and she quickly ruins his chance at proposing to her the way he would have wanted to. And yet... Killian still tries to tell her the truth. And he is so close in doing so. However, Emma doesn't make it easy for him in the slightest, as she keeps interrupting him and reveals to him that she believes he's been drinking in order to find his courage to ask her to marry him. Which only forces Killian's hand, because he then becomes too afraid to rip away Emma's happiness in this moment. Sadly, he ends up proposing to her instead, not wanting to disappoint and even hurt her. And for a brief moment... Killian is happy. Until he quickly remembers there is still this secret inside of him that is killing him. I love Emma, but ugh!! Why does she have to ruin this moment for Killian, and why does she not read the pain in poor Killian's eyes?! What a beautiful moment, nonetheless. Yay!!!! Emma and Killian are engaged and Emma's so happy!!!! It's hard not to be happy to see them become engaged, even under these unfortunate circumstances. I just wish Killian could be completely happy too. Next... Until this episode, I really did not like Gideon as a character much at all. I'm not completely sure why, except that until this episode, he's mostly acted more like a spoiled child than one who has been tortured for years by someone as evil as the Black Fairy. But maybe that's just me. I've never really been completely sure as to why his character annoys me most of the time. Other than that Giles Matthey's (Gideon) acting is always so up and down. Bad and then good, then bad again. With this being said... Giles Matthey's acting in this episode is actually quite good, and this episode, is the first episode in which I do actually enjoy his character. Now... I actually quite enjoy Gold throughout this episode as he tries to help his second born son, and how all this relates back to him trying to help Baelfire in the past. However, I am also very angry with Gold for hurting Blue to help his son. I understand why he does so, so he could protect Gideon from darkening his heart further. I understand what Rumple is trying to accomplish and what his beliefs are in doing as he does for Gideon. What I can't stand though... Gold's willingness to darken his own soul further, doesn't actually change the fact that Gideon forces Gold into having to do this in the first place. And it's Gideon who wants to do this for his own purposes. Just because he doesn't actually perform the act of stealing away Blue's magic and therefore hurting her, it is still his will upon which Gold acts from. So, in my opinion, Gideon's heart is darkened still, nonetheless. And it also makes me quite angry, that Belle seems okay with Rumple hurting Blue. I understand that she is proud of Gold for protecting their son, but I think this is where Belle's character falters even a little more for me, by seeing her continuing to accept the evil things Gold does from this point forward. Now... I think that the scenes with Wish Realm Robin, Zelena, and Regina are all also very good too, as well as with the Evil Queen in the end. She's back! And she's ready to get back into her own vengeance against Regina and everyone else. And I actually quite like this Wish Realm version of Robin Hood, who is most definitely not like the original Robin Hood. He's a bit darker, which makes his scenes with both Zelena and with the Evil Queen that much more enjoyable and intriguing. And yet... You can see there is still a little goodness in this Robin too. I too love that Zelena is the one who comes to Regina in the very end as she walks down into her vault and attempts to return the Evil Queen still in her snake form. I love that Zelena bravely apologizes to Regina for her misguided efforts in helping Wish Robin. Her doing so, shows us just how much Zelena truly yearns to have a closer relationship with her sister. And not the Evil Queen, but with her good sister. Because Zelena has changed and has grown a lot. She wants to be good and to be a hero. She just wants her sister to accept her. And her coming to apologize to Regina, when she doesn't have to... This shows us just how true her desire for her sister to finally forgive her for everything standing between them really is. And I absolutely love this! :) And lastly, regarding the protection spell around the town line... There have been a number of protection spells up over it to prevent people from leaving Storybrooke, or to keep outsiders from getting in. This one that is currently up shown in this episode, has been cast over the town line by the Evil Queen when she first arrived in town at the beginning of this season, as it is just revealed that she had done so in order to prevent anyone from escaping, even though her casting the spell is never actually shown. This isn't still the same protection spell up that Emma cast over it when she first came back to Storybrooke as a Dark One, which she too mentioned she had done. However, with that casting, people were able to cross over the line, but would have gotten turned into a tree like Dopey had been. With this current protection spell... Regina had mentioned back in this season's second episode, titled... A Bitter Draught, that the Evil Queen has cast the same protection spell that she once cast over it way back when Regina had cast the very first dark curse. So, right now... It's simply that no one is able to leave. And yes... Had Zelena and Robin been successful in breaking through the protection spell around the town line, and had been able to walk out so they could run to New York, then Zelena would have lost all her magic due to the world being without magic, just as she lived without her magic in New York back when she had been living under the disguise as Marian. Overall... I still enjoy this episode. It's just one of my least favorites within the entire show. Thank you again, Sora! Sincerely, Heidi
