BTW his name is pronounced "Lee-loosh", "L-eh-loosh", or "luh-loosh" (I've heard all three) - It's one of those french names that is hard for english speakers (or Japanese speakers I guess) to say perfectly.

Code Geass is from 2006, so yeah, it's pretty old already but definitely a classic. It gets compared to Death Note a lot, as you already said. Despite both anime branching out in very different directions, the main characters share a lot of similarities. It was a surprise megahit back in the day, since it's an anime original without any source material and it arguably has one of the best endings in anime ever.

it has to be intentional at this point. The first one I watched them do was chainsaw man, and they didnt have problems with names back then. Now I am kind of wishing i voted for AD instead because i dont have the love for it that i have for Code Geass.

The premise is kinda wild that Japan was invaded due to their ressources. Japan is kinda known to be a nation without natural ressources as most were depleted during their industrailisation, which led them to attack China, Korea etc. If you happen to love Code Geass there's another show that's very very similar to it called Guilty Crown. Also Mecha / rebellion / smart people franchise. I'll recommend it if you love this show on the next poll

That’s something I noticed the very first time I watched something on here - the audio is generally kind of low. The commentary is about fine (still a bit quiet), but the series itself is much quieter in comparison. I just raised the volume with my headset to compensate. If you can't do that, there are browser plugins that can help.

I'm sorry to be that guy and it's the last time I am writing this but please consider also adding The Apothecary Diaries! Have you seen the war that broke out between code geass and apothecary dairies? So many people want it too! But anyway code geass is amazing too! It's one of my first animes that i watched like 10 or 15 years ago and it's really good. But I think it's a bit messy and honestly in a way immature. Like teenager who just for the first time read some philosophy books!

The thing that put me off this show was that the MC seems to start as a godlike being and the enemy are comically one dimensionally evil. I'll probably watch along since the reactions will make it more entertaining and maybe I'll be proven wrong!

I strongly recommend the english dub too as well for Code Geass (this is coming from an anime sub only watcher but this show is an exception). The dub's translation is way better which is important for such a political show, not to mention the quality of the voice actors. And on crunchyroll you can activate the subs even with the english dub so that way you can still talk and read and listen at the same time.

Sub is better. There are a few shows where the dub clamor is loud, and that is for Code Geass, Death Note and Fullmetal Alchemist. I suspect it comes from Americans who grew up with these shows on their TVs in English as a kid or young teen. I applaud this channel for being one of the rare ones who do the sub.
