top 3 bts album for me. its also my first ever comeback experience as an army so i could be biased

may⁷

14:20 yes, you are right Wes! It is Jungkook rapping

ly1111

For the comeback trailer the video had multiple angels because they first preformed it for MBC gayo and the camera work was horrendous I don't know if it was on purpose to sabotage them but it really ruined it and didn't showcase anything like it should have. So the the video was made by big hit to show the boys performance and show what good camera work is like and throw some shade with the "Good camera"😅

loooovely_04

47:43 Guys, that it's Jimin 🥹

may⁷

47:35 the background highnote is Jimin, and the one singing the main part is JK

I've always loved war of hormone because sonically it's amazing but also I think people often overlook how tongue in cheek its supposed to be! We know bts, they like to write funny songs and have cheeky lyrics! The song is literally called war of hormone and there's lines like "I'm 18 I know everything I need to know" and "I'll go pop my pimple" like even in the dance and their expressions when performing this song- it's so clear to me that it's basically a satirical commentary on teenage boys and the volatility of that time period. Its a funny song! They smack each other on the ass when performing like it was never meant to be taken so seriously but since before they even debuted bts were attacked for nothing, almost every single thing they've ever been criticised for has been absolute made up bs. This was one of those times, it was something that idiots could latch onto to make a fake controversy out of to try and take bts down. Bts are good people so they saw this backlash, apologised and went on to deeply reflect on what people said to the point where namjoon made it a point to have his lyrics looked over by professors in women's studies and such. You can definitely have thoughtful and interesting discussions about this song like you guys did in this video and it can be thought provoking and good natured and I think that's exactly what bts WANTED to happen, that's the point of satire after all, and we know that up to this point they did not shy away from making bold statements and commentary with their songs- this was just supposed to be another one of those done in a funny way. I think of this like spine breaker, social commentary in a funny song that sounds really upbeat and fun to listen to so that you play it a lot and really listen to the lyrics. To this day it's crazy to me that this was ever a controversy put on bts' shoulders. Yes this song warrants thoughtful discussion about topics like misogyny, the lense of women through teenage boys eyes etc. But not because bts were being misogynistic! Because the song brought such topics to us to be discussed! I hope this all makes sense, it will forever get me heated that this became what it became because I think it's one of many fantastic social commentary tracks in their discography that gets overlooked due to unjust controversy 🥲

Tabii🪷

3:04 if i remember it was because they were on a music show and the camera wasn’t doing it justice ( very inconsistent) so bh released the performance again with all types of angles showing them how they could’ve done it instead 30:00 war of hormones: honestly you guys put the meaning of this song into such a huge and understand perspective but i also don’t think the media ever cared about anything else other than bringing them down, the misogyny allegations were overblown and also korean fans especially have said that the lyrics of the songs were taken completely out of context, jeopardizing the meaning of the song and the intention behind it

Michella Lu

I think this album was made in a way that you listen to it in a loop so the last song goes back to the first song again and that’s just sad… there’s no happy ending 😢

mari

ugh i remember when i listened to this album for the first and being blown away by the fact that it has no skips. truly love every single song on this album.

Michella Lu

Day 1056 of asking if it’s bts’ yaman tv interview time yet…

Skye

never thought i’d see a link between bts and an episode of the inbetweeners but i love that i watch so many of the things you react to that i get the times you reference them in other reactions 😭✨

(Another ridiculously long comment gosh I'm sorry lol, also sorry this might be sad and trauma-dumpy 😅) Rain is such a meaningful song to me, sometimes I can't bear to listen to it because it captures the feeling of depression and desperate loneliness so well that I just don't have the mental fortitude to listen. Other times though when I'm feeling stronger it feels like being sat on a park bench in the rain alone and a stranger coming and sitting next to you, sharing their umbrella with you and giving you a warm cup of tea, putting their hand on your knee, giving you a small warm smile and just sitting with you, offering you silent company or a shoulder to cry on or a listening ear. Its such a beautiful song it can make me cry simply thinking of it sometimes. The most consistent emotion I've felt in my life is loneliness, the type that literally eats at your heart and throat and make it feel like you have the flu. Hearing this song as a teen for the first time made me sob because it felt like the first time I'd ever felt comradery in this emotion. This feeling encapsulates that depressing rainy day perfectly but more than that the whole thing feels like a metaphor for depression and that feeling of being alone, it's almost haunting to me. One time that sticks with me is when I listened to it in 2022 when I was homeless, it was raining and I was on a bus to town to go spend the day by myself to try and figure out how to keep myself and my brother safe and fix our situation. I was staring out at the World through the window of the bus and watching the rain and as this song came on I just started crying and felt very thankful that nobody else was on this bus. I don't know anybody else irl that had gone through this sort of situation and more than ever in that moment I felt totally alone in the world, and this song was like a saviour to me because it came on shuffle from a playlist of ALL bts songs and it felt like such a karmic moment and it was with that strength from the feeling of understanding that I got through that day. Its one of the many super special bts songs to me🩷

Alexa

I know Dark and Wild is one of ARMY's favorites, but it's sad that when it was released, it didn't match the boys expectations :( Rain is one of my all time favorite songs, I could play it on a loop 🔥

Niko

For the four albums you’ve reacted to there are dance practices for: - No More Dream - We Are Bulletproof Pt 2 - N.O. - Attack On Bangtan - Boy In Luv - Just One Day - Tomorrow - Danger - War of Hormone

Horribly long comment 3 💔 So excited for the red bullet tour reaction, first time I'll ever see anyone react to it! For some reason reactors never care to watch it even though it's both so good and such a prominent moment in their career? Also excited for any other content from this era! I love this album SO much, many armys say this is their fave album or tied for fave! I personally cannot pick faves for anything I wholeheartedly don't think bts have a single bad song or album and this is just another fantastic piece of their musical tapestry🩷 2nd grade, hip hop phile, could you turn off your cellphone?, look here, rain...so many AMAZING songs that are so overlooked, bts has the best b sides in the industry, I can't wait for you to see all these albums live! Also can't wait for you to see the blanket kick choreo LOL 😭 I know this isn't coming until this era is wrapped up but we're getting into the HYYH era next...oh gosh. Allow me to info dump preemptively a bit :p Its the 10 year anniversary of the start of this era this year, it's one of the most special eras for both bts and armys. We all still talk about it constantly to this day, we bring up a picture of a random shipping container with a random number on it every time anything bts relates is announced to this day (you'll get context later lol). Its SO special and such a monumental part of kpop and music as a whole and im not even exaggerating. There's magic in this coming era, in the music, the music videos and everything surrounding these albums. HYYH btw stans for 'hwa yeong yeon hwa' which translates to 'the most beautiful moment in life' from Chinese and its what's written on the album covers but the era is referred to as HYYH for short. Im sure by now you've heard TONS about the BU or 'bangtan universe' or 'bts storyline'. It technically includes stuff from this whole era too but it REALLY starts with HYYH. The music videos, the other lore related videos, the notes you get with the album/ notes book, the webtoon....there's just so much. It's so good that there's even a kdrama based on the universe with actors playing bts' characters from it (I'm sure you know this due to k drama recommendation posts lol). I really hope when you get to this era you dive into the lore and ALL that the era has to offer, it's just so so so SO fantastic. It being such an important and emotional era for armys and the boys and this year being the 10 year anniversary AND the year that bts will all be done with the military...its all so serendipitous. There are a lot of karmic serendipitous things surrounding bts, it really makes you believe that fate is a thing 😅 but yeah the whole HYYH era is so special and will still make me cry, the other day (11th april 2025) was actually the canonical day that jin starts 'the loop' (you'll learn what that means eventually) so I was having a very emotional day the other day thinking about the story and how tragic and deeply sad it is and how nobody really seems to stop and think about how tragic and despair filled jin's story is 💔 all my comments on this have been FAR too long im sorry, loved the reaction and can't wait for more and really really looking forward to the next era too🩷🩷

Marissa K

Also Danger has a remix MV, which is a must see

Gurocandii

Blanket kick as well!

Marissa K

Your welcome 💜💜 I'll try to keep adding tidbits of info into the document 😊 That intro trailer is one of my fav choreos as well. They use a bit of it in one of the online concerts during Covid. When you get there, see of you can spot it. Before the Most Beautiful Moment in Life Era or HYYH, which this is just before, BTS did romantic songs. It wasn't until HYYH that they expanded the concept of love.

C

The cross over I never imagined 😭

kiyo

honestly bts' old music and songs like hip hop lover honestly really set them aside from others who mention hip hop as their inspo,, whilst others are calling rihanna hip hop and are mocking the culture, bts' can proudly shoutout and name those who inspired their rap and concepts, and are still doing it till this day. I really appreciate that about bts 🫶 they don't shy away from learning more and understanding themes or concepts and growing as an artist; honestly even if I stop following bts as pop culture icons (which is not gonna happen💜), their music is definitely one thing I can listen to for a very long time😁 love this album so muchhhh, can't wait for the next album reaction,, great reaction as alwaysss💞🫶

Marissa K

Can I ask for you guys to stay around in this Era a bit? Check out lives, explained vids, interviews, shows, bombs and episodes, Festa content, alternate dance practices that you havent seen? It would really cement this era in your brain if you so choose. Along with the Red Bullet Tour. Then head into the next era of HYYH 😊

Marissa K

Sorry, just one correction, none of the BU is in this Era. Starts completely in I Need U.

Venita Morse

I love this album. For the song "Let Me know" Jimin is the one doing the high notes is the background. Also, Let Me Know is one of my favorite songs on this album. Let Me Know and Tomorrow are 2 songs that I really want you see live among many others. War of Hormones is such a banger song too. It is such that this album didn't do very well when it was released. It definitely deserves better when released. But I'm glad I get to enjoy this album. So much of their music is always so nostalgic to me with that 90s feel. Can't wait for your Red Bullet concert reaction.

Ale

nylecoj

As what the other comments have said, please react to their dance practices, live performances and behind the scenes during this era!! Thanks for the reaction as always!!💜

LifeisBetterwithBTS

“Look Here” is seriously one of my top 5 OT7 songs! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it! I’m so glad that you guys liked it. 💜💜

Alie's Cornerstore

LOVE love LOVE and appreciate your analysis of War of Hormone. You guys GET IT. It was really meant to just be a fun, silly song that presents the narrative of teenage boys from a viewpoint where yes, they're expressing raw attraction, but also professing admiration for beauty. The only "controversy" came from antis who used mistranslated lyrics as an excuse to hate on BTS. This song was never a controversy among ARMY. BTS haven't performed it since 2017 and it's really sad that's the case.

arurain

I wanna recommend you guys watch the bonus (chapter 3-7) and deleted scenes (chapter 1-7) of the rise of bangtan since it contains iconic compilations of this era ++ if a clip catches your interest you can look into the whole vid/content after. Thank you guys for this reaction 💜

Kearyce Moore

Let me know, 24/7heaven hip hop lover, cypher pt 3 and danger were my faves until I listened to the whole album and I realized I should've been army in this era😭

nylecoj

rain, forever rain and still with you are the best songs to listen to on a rainy day💜

Kearyce Moore

1:18:20 to 32, they're talking about being in their 2nd year in the industry

John McCann

In danger that was jungkook who rap after rm

Lela

24:48 from what I've heard the "girls are like math equations, us guys just do them" is just a bad translation bc of the double entendre in English but (as far as I heard) the ambiguity doesn't exist in the Korean term and it just means "solve them" yk like solve an equation. I don't speak Korean but I've seen multiple cases of something only being weird/funny to international fans bc something has mutliple meanings in English but the Korean doesn't actually have the same ambiguity so I find this explanation very reasonable. Edit: lol you mention it like 7 mins later

Gurocandii

Really? I thought the VCR's from the red bullet were part of this era (when they get detention at school and first meet etc. The stuff that's in the webtoon as well), or am I misremembering where those VCR's and videos are from? 😅😅😅

Marissa K

They have a link 😊

Summy⁷

Yes please do this you guys!! I feel you would really enjoy it too and you would learn so much!!

anisha alam

I think colour coded lyrics or any other type of lyrics where you can see which member is singing at what time would be helpful since there were quite a few times where you guys got who was singing wrong! There may be some inaccuracies but i think overall, they would be helpful, and also you could always double check on doolset! Anyways, really enjoyed the reaction and loved hearing your thoughts ❤️ Would love to see you watch the red bullet concert next ❤️

Marissa K

We can correct them 😊 it's not a problem. It helps them get their ear attuned as well

miniminie

Can’t wait for you guys to watch the concerts 💜

Ahjusshi_Brown

For the "Intro Performance Trailer," it wasn't that the camerawork was too zoomed out and that we couldn't see their faces (that would've been preferential to what we actually got). I can't explain the camerawork as anything other than booty buttcheeks 💀 It was wayyyy too zoomed in at parts (so you couldn't see their faces or the dance) and then entirely not focused on BTS/the stage at all in other parts. It was overall a hot mess, and bless BTS' hearts cause they didn't want all their hard work to go to waste and have ARMY miss a performance they put together for them, just bc of some trash camera work Also, that wasn't their concept trailer 😂😂 that video only exists because of terrible camerawork from a live performance BTS had at a festival in SK. I think you guys skipped the actual concept trailer in lieu of watching the lyrics for the song in the actual concept trailer (intro: what am I to you)

Ahjusshi_Brown

Yes, JK has been rapping in all of the albums you've heard so far lol (mostly the title tracks aka the tracks with MVs, for most of the b-sides he usually stuck to vocals) And yes, that was JK rapping not Yoongi Also, at 47:42 (let me know), that was Jimin up there hitting notes in the stratosphere, not JK. JK was singing in the foreground of the mix tho, so maybe you guys got confused (it's funny cause this is the album Jimin's vocal ability and color really started to shine through, which I know you've been waiting for, but you guys can't pick up on it yet it seems--I look forward to the day you can!)

Ahjusshi_Brown

Oh Hiphop lover...I owe my ARMYdom to that song fr. I consider myself a 2015 ARMY bc the first song I heard was I Need U (it had just come out at the time and it'll be on the next album you listen to), and I was OBSESSED. The production, the vocals, and the rap verses. I had never heard of BTS before tho so I really had no context for their sound or their music. It wasn't until I watched a reaction video to BTS that I realized they had other songs and, thus, down the rabbit hole I went. As with all my new obsessions, I found the source (aka their YouTube channel) and went allllll the way to the beginning. From there, I was introduced to BTS and promptly became aware that BTS took rapping and HIP HOP seriously...and that really meant a lot to me. As a Black American who has been into kpop since 2nd gen, BTS was nothing I had ever seen before. Never had I seen just straight up hip hop from an idol group, and I loved it (I loved every song of theirs that was out at the time), but it wasn't until I got to Hip Hop lover that I realized I could trust BTS and truly allow myself to be a fan. If recent events in kpop haven't been enough of an indication, it's really hard out here for Black kpop fans 😭 To be constantly confronted with the fact that there's a whole country and genre of music built off of the music, fashion, and performance from our community (which is great, there's a pride in seeing your culture so influential and adored worldwide) YET also be reminded time and time again that they (often) don't really respect Black people, can be exhausting to say the least. And I think that's why Hip Hop lover hit me so hard and why it still means so much to me. If the constant references to hip hop artists, albums, dance genres, etc. weren't enough, when Yoongi says, "If loving this culture is a sin, I'll gladly die 100 times," I just felt some kinda immense wave overtake me. It's hard to articulate, but when I read those lyrics and heard the passion in his voice as he declared that, I truly realized I could trust BTS. This wasn't a group of guys that would just "put on" my culture as a form of some kinda caricature for a quick buck and then take it off when it no longer served them...these guys were STUDENTS of the culture and were genuinely grateful for the artform that helped them discover themselves and express themselves. It was that (coupled with the absolutely fantastic music, their incredible talent, their lyricism, and their messages to their audience) that helped me to allow myself to get to know them as people and become an ARMY. I've been serving as a lilac lieutenant ever since🫡

Aly

War of Hormones will forever be an icon idc. Like it's LITERALLY depicting some of the thoughts of hormonal teen boys - how so many people missed that, is baffling.

Seneca

you guys were spot on with war of hormone! it's a self-aware, tongue in cheek commentary about what teenage boys are experiencing due to puberty/hormones. if the song was called "GIRLS ARE HOT", then yeah... questionable. but bts LITERALLY called it the "war of hormones" in their body and described how it's affecting their teenage minds people saying it was controversial/objectifying missed the whole point... an objectifying song is like EVERY song on the radio that goes "girls line up for me in the club, i pick a hot one, sleep with her then pay her to get out. more hot girls lined up already" etcetc lol. how people viewed war of hormone as equivalent to that is crazy, they're just LOOKING for reasons to hate bts

Seneca

many people who "missed it" probably were doing so intentionally, just scraping the barrel for a reason to drag bts in the media

kookiekosmos

I suggest you guys watch some live performances and the dance practices before you proceed with Red Bullet Tour. But you guys do what u wanna do it's your channel and I had a great time following your journey <3

gelanG

Thank you for sharing your thoughts on the song. After thinking about it for a few days, I decided to share my honest, initial reaction toward "War of Hormone." I know that this is an unpopular opinion, but I want to provide a different perspective to the table. Please note that I was still a teenager and a minor myself when this song was released. I wasn't an ARMY back then, but was into other K-pop groups. One day, one of my friends (who doesn't speak Korean) wanted to show me a music video, as her favorite K-pop artist just made a comeback (and because I am one of the few Koreans in town and one of the few K-pop listeners in school at the time). I gave it a try, but the visual of the music video and the song made me a little uncomfortable because it was a RAW emotion from a teenage boy. Now, as an adult and an ARMY, I fully understand the meaning of the song, how it fits the school trilogy albums, and the intention of the song (and I also believe that BTS did not have any ill intention as the haters are saying). In fact, I agree with what Wes and Steph said in the video. I sometimes go back and listen to this song every once in a while because it is catchy, but I personally prefer their newer songs over this. I think one of the lyrics that can come off wrong is "girls are the best present." Because I made a weird face, my friend at the time explained that BTS wrote this song for the fans, and since ARMY consists of (mostly) girls, BTS was essentially saying "ARMYs (girls) are the best present" to them. While many Korean ARMYs (including me now) understand that this song was just depicting a teenage boy's desire toward a female, I can also see that some MIGHT view the song as objectifying women for men's pleasure. Moreover, when I looked up the controversy in Korean, it seems like some other songs of BTS (mostly from RM's mixtape) were also mentioned for misogyny controversy because of the usage of the stronger word choices. I think this, together with "War of Hormone," added/contributed to the controversy.

gelanG

By the way, just in case you didn't know, Korean school year goes like this: Elementary school 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th grade Middle school 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade High school 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade

Honii

Dark and wild is soooo good... For me, war of hormone felt like appreciation not misogyny. Danger is always a bop. Love hip-hop phile, I feel like bts introduced me to hip hop. I started listening to more rap/hip-hop songs because of them. Let me know is pretty. Cypher!!!! Look Here and Second grade gets me dancing every time!!!!💃💃

H

Tv series very rarely have more more then a kissing scene usually around episode 8/9. K-movies completely different they can get very racy just like the West.

cress

thanks for reminding me how fun this album was. truly some underrated masterpieces like Can You Turn Off Your Cellphone? and Hiphop Lover! also i'm so excited for your reaction to the HYYH series! i feel like it's safe to say those albums have such a special place in the hearts of fans like us who basically grew up with them.

Kearyce Moore

1:26:48 to 27:48, I get what you're saying, but also everytime bts does a different genre, they will always have hip hop because that's how they started out and it has never left them even though thats how rm and suga mainly started out.
