Lol it wouldve been so funny if something super dark happens this episode and it changes the whole tone of the show from then on

Marin and her band of friends are gyaru which are like "gals"? idk what the western equivalent of it would be so she uses slangs and gal lingo when talking so thats how theyve translated it for us lol. Stuff like "thats the bomb" "ma dude" just her general way of speaking.

I just realized that two of my favourite romance anime (this and Insomniacs After School) both have in depth discussions about photography/camera settings included. Maybe it’s a sign to give photography a shot lol

First off - @13:00 OMG! IRL childhood friend trope?! That does it. 😆You guys have to watch Makeine: Too Many Losing Heroines. Note 2: Whitebait is a tiny fish native to the waters of Enoshima, The IRL location setting for the beach scene. It is considered a local specialty. Note 3: The "My Dude" thing. That's the anime localizers attempt to portray Marin's speech pattern. Marin is a gyaru, similar to gen-x's valley girl and like them the gyaru's have their own, often personal, slang. She literally makes up half of her honorifics for characters. In the manga translation she only refers to him as Gojo-kun, so Wes can relax. Note 4: "Oppa" It literally translates to "older brother," but it's often used to refer to older male friends, acquaintances, or romantic partners. The Japanese would use "Onii-chan,-san,-sama" in the same way. They also use "Onee-chan, -san,-sama" in the same way for females.

completely irrelevant just wanted to say thank you guys, I've been subscribed to the Patreon for a couple years now and I just want to say you have definitely seen me through my LAW DEGREE BECAUSE I HAD MY GRADUATION CEREMONY TODAY!!!

Roger Powell

Congratulations! 🍾🎉🎊

She doesn't address Gojo thaat casually, it's just used to accentuate the differences in formality between them since Gojo speaks very politely with her for someone who's the same age/class and also a friend. It would look weird if instead they chose to translate Gojo's speech more formally because in Western media friends wouldn't use polite speech with each other and there are in general less ways to denote politeness than in most languages of the Sinosphere.

As I younger millennial I have absolutely called people my guy / my dude. Now I'm beginning to question if it was pre or post My Dress-Up Darling...

Mad Man Moon

That would be another great one for them to watch too, I love that show.

If I were a blogger, I would also ignore comments because I don't handle hate well. I don't know how Steph deals with it 💀 BUT, the fact that Steph and Wes (with her help) interact with the audience and read comments greatly influenced my decision to subscribe to Patreon.

Rostislav

Well, she often responds to them, so even though I only recently subscribed, I know that she reads them :)

I was watching a react to Makeine and realized that there no way to pitch the show to someone that doesn't spoil.

Vincent Lee
