very infuriating thing about this episode is when the man in the pub starts cursing Isaiah. The pub owner should have warned him from the very start that they were Peaky Blinders, instead of repeatedly saying, ‘They’re clear, they’re clear to drink here.’ That just feels like lazy writing imo.

Nah it was actually Stephanie who's right on that one. They met on the set of Wuthering Heights and started dating then

Grace is in London, Tommy even says Ritz Hotel, London Piccadilly lol :) she met her Husband whilst in America though, If I'm remembering correctly, don't want to say too much at risk of potential spoilers!

This is going to be a bit off topic, but.. I have been watching your channel for years, since the very first BTS reaction and I've been on your Patreon on and off since then. Recently I've been having serious health issues and the only thing that cheered me up are these Peaky Blinders reactions. I love your discussions, your attention to details and history knowledge. You remind me why I love this show with every episode and I just wanted to say thank you for helping me through a very tough time with your grate energy, positivity and genuineness.

I don't know the correct term in English, but in my country what they did is called a raider takeover, carried out by force and legal means (physical seizure, transfer of property through a corrupt court, illegal rewriting of property registers, etc.). There have been cases similar to the episode, when masked men under the cover of the police physically seize a company, all internal documents, and force the owners to transfer the company to other people. This was a common practice in the countries of the Soviet bloc after the collapse of the USSR and the rise of banditry.

(Not spoilers just context of the time period) I think Tommy's willingness to "work with" Campbell and in extension the Government/Crown truly is for the betterment of his business dealings. He wants the legitimacy the crown can afford him by being in his debt that ultimately being a gangster wouldn't be granted otherwise. Also in the scale of things the IRA and the Crown are different beasts compared to the crime families of London lending another reason to comply. The IRA at this time in all the different Factions had over 10,000 members dwarfing the peaky blinders in comparison.

I just realised, that guy is the same actor from the Challengers movie with Zendeya

Yeah, I think they were either severely underestimating the power of the IRA and the British government or severely overestimating Tommy’s gang. Tommy definitely took advantage of the situation to get those permits, but that was just making the best of a bad situation; he would have had an impossible time opposing either force even if he got nothing in return.
