The Anime Dude

Yohohoho, thanks for the upload! Re-experiencing One Piece with y’all as you witness the journey for the 1st time gets me excited for the end of each work week! 🙏🏻

yahdier

W One Piece

yahdier

Just realized you guys uploaded this on friday the 13th and Ep 40 had Ms friday and Mr 13

sasha

Luffy is made of rubber which is why he can stretch but because of that he also need momentum to do the stretching like actual rubber which is why he couldn't stretch when he was hold down on the scaffold

RCG

Sometimes the show goes back to an older topic after a while to give more information on it or explore it deeper but some things, like Laboon's insides for example, are just the way they are without any real explanation. One Piece is the type of show where almost anything is "possible", so I wouldn't question it too much.

Oden

Some of the questions that you guys asked in this reaction are gonna take a LOT of episodes to answer because oda wants us to live with the characters and experience the adventure from their POV

David Stern

God what is with the swallowing in this show?

RCG

It was obviously meant to create the moment where he almost gets killed. Luffy can beat up Arlong and destroy his whole park but he can’t escape Cabaji, who wasn’t even trying to actually hold him down, lol. I like the message of the scene but it was 100% a plot reason why Luffy was stuck there.

Eric van Eeden

Nice to see us finally entering the grand line, also now the first intro should be safe to watch since everything it could’ve spoiled is over the next intro has what I would barely call a spoiler but if you want the completely blind experience wait a bit for that one

Shahrier

Loveed the reaction guys!! Huge fan. One suggestion, You guys are already great but sometimes during the intense moments or peak moments in the scene, try your best to pay attention to the scene and the dialogues a little more, and say your opinions maybe after.. or just pause when you want to say something Because with one piece, there's SO MANY golden moments in the show which will make more sense as you progress and I want you guys to enjoy, remember & immerse in those moments fully in the moment so that you don't miss any important details. Because a few times i felt you guys missed some important dialogue during the reaction as you were talking Just a sincere feedback from a huge fan, because we want to enjoy those moments with you fully!! Love you guys

KingKuto

I think the name of the spy comedy you were thinking of was 'Get Smart' maybe?

halastair

I think if you are numbering episodes based on One Pace then it should be episodes 36-39 I think

Billbob

Think this is more of a problem rn with it being early One Pace which cuts out so much of the breathing room that there's times of just back to back important information that it ends up feeling like throwaway info that they just disregard it. But no, after the edits pretty much a majority of the stuff brought up tends to be relevant either for this arc or it's some of the more general lore dump that builds across the whole series. Will be better once we get to the more drawn out arcs but some of these episodes has been just so much thrown at the viewer that I wouldn't be surprised if half of it is forgotten about by the time it comes back up Like one example is when Smoker captured Buggy at ~53mins with a net shot and they just have a single sentence of "the marines developed this special metal net to catch devil fruit users" and then it just cuts back to the chaos. That ended up being completely glossed over, the fact that they have some metal made to counteract devil fruit powers which in a world where thats the power system that seems extremely important to make note of...

The Anime Dude

Mr. 13 the mysterious sea otter is my favorite character. Not for any specific reason aside from that it’s an otter wearing pajamas & sun glasses, isn’t that cool?

Arvind Chander

They were cheering for the treasure he left behind.

yusuke

man this is so peak

Arian Abdolahy

@Rockcitygirl Thanks for being someone who not does blindly worhsips every scene and comes up with an explanation for every single inconsistency. It gets tiring when you want to have a somewhat sophisticated discussion about storytelling and end up with people who're too emotionally attached to take on a critical perspective.

Kasturi

Finally, entering the grandline!! welcome to the insanity! I'd also like to point out many of your questions are relevant to the plot and will get answered in the coming episodes. It's not plotholes or smth, Oda answers everything with time- why few thing's working why few thing's not. just keep watching and you'll get answers!! I really hope people will avoid spoilers in the comments.

Arian Abdolahy

Luffy had plenty of time to stretch. Also his legs were completely free and not held down. That's the second time that plot is forced upon the story. Oda does other things exceptionally well, like goodbyes and the backstories (Nami, Sanji etc.).

Arian Abdolahy

I did the math with Ai. Laboon's meat would be 880 million pounds and would feed the city I live in (270k people) for 13 years. Laboon is 1.3k feet long.

Gopal

Oh I wish that Onepace didn't use these subtitles which have a huge spoiler. Won't say what it was just in case for Wes and Steph, but I think others understand what I mean, but it just spoiled one of the greatest reveals in the entire story. And before anyone tries to tell me it isn't a spoiler and that the other subtitles just mistranslated it, you're wrong. Oda very intentionally wrote it only ever using Katakana instead of Kanji so even Japanese people had no idea until Oda revealed it much later. These subtitles went back to change these subtitles to spoil all new viewers.

Gelondil

Please, if you dislike spoilers as much as you are saying, then you shouldn't post things like this. It just shines a spotlight on potential spoilers, making W&S more likely to notice them and be spoiled by them. Since, you know, they do read these comments. That being said, I think you're making a mountain out of a molehill. I certainly wouldn't say a "greatest reveal" has been spoiled here. There's scores upon scores of far more important reveals out there waiting to be found, some of them relevant now, and not a thousand episodes from now - reveals that would actually spoil the enjoyment of the show if they were revealed prematurely.

Gelondil

That's a great way of putting it. Also, love the name. :D

Arian Abdolahy

I've seen the first episodes several times and I'm over 1000 Episodes in and I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about, lol haha.

Saku

Same. Absolutely no clue what the OP is talking about.

Saku

Nevermind, I got to the point and understand what he meant now. I don't think it's that big of a deal, tbh.

Michael H

In One Piece, being beautiful basically acts as a love spell because despite being a master storyteller, he is also a thirsty one.

Jan Češka

Well if they eat like Luffy... XD

Michael H

Eh, it is a pretty “meh” reveal, in my opinion. I’m not even a big fan that it was used as a “reveal” to begin with, to be honest.

Swi2th

I wonder if this translation is such a spoiler. At this point, we didn’t really know the name of the last island as laugh tale, but it was called raftel. The name “Laugh tale” was revealed at a later episodes. So I don’t really know why one pace did this.

Ethereal

Actually, it can easily be (retroactively) explained that the scaffolding incorporates seastone which would render his Devil Fruit powers useless. In the same episode, they make reference to seastone with the net being able to hold down Buggy and Alvida. And Smoker's weapon incorporates seastone too. The meta reason for the scene is that Oda really wanted to create (another) parallel between Luffy and Roger.

Ethereal

It doesn't bother me. I don't consider that much of a spoiler, really. I don't even get what it's supposed to spoil.

Narawin971

the fact that the comment is still up is..... yeah

Gopal

Maybe you guys disagree about it being a big deal, but to me that truly was one of the best reveals in the entire story. The emotion I felt during that was indescribable. Maybe it's because I was following for so many years with it being hidden since I was a little kid that the reveal hit so much harder. Honestly there's only one other reveal that I could say matched the one I'm talking about.

obsa b

I still do think it slightly ruins the moment of the reveal though

Karin

It's crazy because I've been wanting to rewatch One Piece for the past month. I stopped watching years ago, and, at the time, it was season 17. That was ageesss ago, and I couldn't keep up! I didn't know how I was going to start over. I'm so, so glad I found that you're watching it for the first time, and it's been a thrill to rediscover it with you! 🧡

nik

Translation issue, not a One Piece or One Pace issue. The name is EXACTLY the same in JP. So japanese people would read it as Laugh Tale. It's not that it was revealed at a later episode, it was that they translated it differently at a later episode. It's not One Piece or One Pace's fault, it's the translators who translated it incorrectly.

Xan

Hi Wes & Steph, One pace cuts out all the fillers but there are some fillers you definitely want to watch like the G-8 arc.
