The Anime Dude

Congrats on the new addition to the family! Code Geass is still my favorite anime of all time- so hope you enjoyed it! Can’t wait to watch the reaction!

Ronald Bohne

The greatness is finally here! Still the best ending in anime in my humble opinion.

Super Gamer Q

W Code Geass. !!!ALL HAIL LELOUCH!!!

charmaine

I watched this back when it aired on tv and I was in elementary school. my aunt started letting me use her computer and I was discovering anime could be watched online. I decided to skip to the end bc I wanted to see what happened. seeing nunnally cry over lelouch body while the crowd cheered made me sit there and cry. my aunt and her friends were looking at me crazy 😭

Joshua Moore

Lelouch is dead but there’s a movie that explores an alternate universe where he took cc’s code

tim deme

Wes and Steph just so you know Kim jong un I know I did not say his name right he attended college in Switzerland later he went back to North Korea as a succescer to the country

Marko Genter

Its so peak. !!ALL HAIL LELOUCH!!

Nody

you guys should watch the movie! Just letting you know the movie in NOT cannon towards the ending.

Mikado

It was amazing to follow you two's reactions to code geass ! I discovered you channel through the code geass reactions, and I don't regret it. You guys are amazing, endearing and lovable people, congrats on the little one ! Back to code geass, it's amazing and so refreshing to see first time watchers read the story so well, and when the people in question are educated in history and culture, it's even better. The last scene with Nunnally crying for her brother while everyone is cheering Zero's name is heartwrenching, it kind of reminds me of, and parralels Euphemia's death scene in which Suzaku was crying and the Japanese were acclaiming Zero. The tragedy of the ending is that Suzaku, who's wanted to die his entire life, is forced to live, while Lelouch, who wanted more than anything to live peacefully with his sister, dies, can't tell you which one of the two fates is the worst, as they are the worst possible for these two respectively. Now, if you want, there are the 3 films of code geass, which are basically a retelling of the story, with a few changes, it's a separate "timeline" from the anime. There's the film Lelouch of the Resurrection, that follows the films' timeline, and is a sort of epilogue. If you want more content that can give you perhaps more details about the story, there are the picture dramas of code geass (easily findable with subtitles). The picture dramas are basically voice acted manga panels that tells side stories that happen between episodes. There is a series of picture dramas for R1 and R2. Anyway, once again, congrats on the baby and looking forward to more of your content !

Hisoka

AH... AOT could Never (be this good )

Chideraa Udegbulem

Personal theory is that Lelouch took V2 code from Charles and is now immortal like C2 because when C2 spoke to Marrine she was actually speaking to her so I like to believe she is actually speaking to lelouch too

Robin Berglund

So Lelauche commanded Schneitzel something like: "So therefore I shall give you, the command 'You shall serve Zero!' as a present." And Schneitzel recognises Lelouche as Zero initially, then the Zero Requiem makes it enough for this new Zero to be recognised as a true Zero. Meanwhile for the mass commands Lelouche gave out since taking on the mantle of Emperor, was things like "Recognise me!" for the aristocrazy in his initial reveal, and "Be my slaves" for when we see him geassing a throne room full of soldiers. While there could be some stuff that doesn't disappear after his passing, like if he has given specific orders to certain 'slave' soldiers it could last beyond Lelouche's life, but as I see it, it was designed for the geass to generally go inactive once their 'master' is no more.

Robin Berglund

Lelouche sacrificing himself is the general consensus, and C.C. shouldn't look so conflicted in the church if it was not so. But if one want to theory-craft, Lelouche did have dual Geass. So he could sacrifice his geass power and instead take the code from C.C. If he would have done that, he could do the whole spectacle of letting Suzaku kill him and then survive due to having received immortality from C.C., so if you really want Lelouche to be the cart driver I guess you could. It would even help explain why Nunally seemed to get some Collective-related visions when she touched Lelouche there at the end.

pylonsf4

Did you not watch the movie?

Chideraa Udegbulem

I was told the movie and such weren’t cannon so I never checked them out

pylonsf4

Are you guys doing the sequel movie? It's not as good as the series, but it's an enjoyable romp at least

Robin Berglund

I really like the thought of Lelouche vs Kira, and there is a quite good youtube video going over it, but I completely agree with you.. Kira died due to his arrogance and he ultimately failed in his quest, Lelouche died due to his triumph and succeeded with what he wanted.

Robin Berglund

1. the movie is a separate canon. 2. if Lelouche took the code then he would lose his ability to use his Geass after that. If it works like with C.C. at least, and not like that movie that is not canon to the series timeline.

Hayate

You still have the movie to watch, but note that it occurs in a different "timeline" or "universe". Basically they remade the entire series into a movie trilogy so some stuff are a bit different compared to the anime

Eric van Eeden

such a fantastic ending still one of the best. if you wan't there is a movie, tho not cannon called Code Geass Lelouch of the resurrection, that is quite fun, i can recommend it

Eucri Diaz

Awesome reaction! I think you guys covered every major point on the discussion, but I would love a Q&A or extended discussion too! Only thing I would add, is that this finale message is about being hopeful for a brighter future. If we humans let aside all these silly conflicts about race, religion, nationality, genre and greed and then we start working together, then as humanity we could achieve our full potential. I think Lelouch believed something along these lines, thus rejecting Charles idea of holding to the Past and Schneizel idea to stick to the present. Lelouch is giving humanity an opportunity to evolve and reach a better future for all. Also, Steph still feels betrayed by Schneizel is so funny 😂 A question for the Q&A would be, Team C.C or Kallen? Maybe even a dark horse like Milly or Shirley? Since you guys loved the show please react to Code Geass: Akito the Exiled, it's an OVA with 5 episodes and is set on the EU war. Timeline wise is between S1 and S2 and is canon. There's also the movie, Code Geass: Lelouch of the Re;surrection, you guys can imagine what's it about from the title. Is set on a alternative timeline of the "recap" movies, so no main canon. In reality the big major difference is that Shirley is alive! Mainly because they couldn't fit her and Mao's story arc on 3 recap movies. You guys don't need to watch the recap because everything is so fresh. I personally recommend watching this movie but with a fan service mindset. Taking into account that it has been more than ten years since the original anime finale, for what I can see many fans really didn't mind Lelouch returning since they love the character and wanted more, but there's still some fans that say the finale is perfect as it is and don't need anything else added. So I think just watching it with a fan service mindset makes it enjoyable to watch and doesn't take from the original finale. I really hope you guys watch a least one of these shows, I truly love your Code Geass reaction and I kinda don't want it to end here, now with the new wave of shows is probably the only chance that you guys will take any notice to a little bit more Code Geass.

Eucri Diaz

Good catch with the picture dramas! They are so fun to watch since they tend to go more on the funny/wholesome side.

Ronald Bohne

I would actually add Eren from AoT to make it a trio of iconic protags. Light failed like you said. Eren had to settle with a middling result. And Lelouch succeeded. Three fantastic stories with similar messaging but entirely different conclusions. All masterpieces.

Matthew Wise

I love CG, Fate and DN for the conflict of ideals that occurs. I would say Lelouch is an archtypical anti-hero rather than a hero or villain, performing villainous deeds for heroic ends. The ending I think is generally lauded as one of the best, is deliberately ambiguous to be interpreted how the viewer choses and was often debated among the fanbase. I preferred the interpretation that he was dead as I think it adds to the weight of the ending but as you say, the author loves a false death. Worth remembering Schneizal began developing the fleija's as soon as he got wind of their possibility. He wwas the primary sponsor of A.S.E.E.C. (lloyd's team) which created a lot of the super powered weapons we saw in the show such as the Avalon itself which he was ready to use to kill lelouch regardless of the risk to princess euphemia. Damocles was always Schneizel's ideal, in my view whether he expected to come across such a perfect way to implemnt it I don't know. There is an alternative storyline that includes a direct sequal with the main cast of characters and an indirect sequal that takes place in japan years later with new characters. You would need to watch the 3 OVAs though as key plot points are significantly changed. Something to consider in a year or so maybe when the show is a bt hazier. Interested to know what kind of story you preferred between Death Note, Code Geass and Attack on Titan and how you would rank them and what about each stood out to you. Would help me understand what kind of shows you like and why.

Ronald Bohne

Lelouch is indeed dead. Just from a common sense perspective, Suzaku/Nunnaly/CC all crying would otherwise be cheapened. "The only people who should kill are those prepared to die themselves!" What's ironic is that his 3 closest people all get a horrible ending: Nunnaly only wanted to live with her brother, Suzaku wanted to die, and CC wanted to be truly loved.

Marko Genter

man why do yall always have to compare shit instead of just complimenting something like shut up

Sarkkoth

It's been quite a ride. I wish you guys would watch the movie. It has it's own movie timeline but it has so many great character moments with the cast all coming together after such a long time.

Michael H

One of the best endings of any story I’ve seen

Ethereal

Another vote to recommend watching: - Code Geass: Akito the Exiled. It's a 5-episode OVA series (1h each). Between S1 and S2. - Code Geass, the 2019 movie. It's a movie of standard length, 1h 50m. After S2.

Billbob

Plenty of valid criticisms to be had about the show, but a description that I think comes from Garnt from TrashTaste is that S2 ends up being like a "car crash that somehow manages to parallel park" because yeah it just completely sticks the landing and still is a lot of people's top finales. Also kinda funny since in the 2000s this was one of the most recommended for early anime watchers alongside Death Note which can feel like almost a complete opposite since post-L becomes just an absolute mess as Light falls apart. Poetic conclusion to Lights story in a way but man was so much of it rough.

nox

Congrats on the baby! Also great reaction! Absolutely loved rewatching the show with you guys on here. Honestly, one of the scene I think about the most in this show is the opening scene of Season 1 Episode 1. If you end up doing a Q&A, could you rewatch the first 1 minute of show, and let us know what you think of it?

RCG

A story driven series like Code Geass isn't something I'd rewatch on my own. It's just not the same if you've already seen it, so it was really fun to rewatch it here together with you after such a long time. Thanks! It's not really a 10/10 for me. Things like the miraculous survival of important characters, which you also briefly brought up, happened a few too many times in my opinion, often without any real explanation. There are also some other smaller things that I would criticize. Still, it's one of the best shows out there, definitely a classic that every anime fan should have on their list. There aren't many anime this epic and grandiose with pacing as fast as this. Code Geass aged so well (already 20 years old!) and definitely has one of the best endings ever. I don't know how popular the movie or the spin-off OVAs are. At least the movie seems promising, I guess. It would be a first watch for me.

seraph

I second this!

kinetic98

32:00 lol I agree with Wesley, of all the things that Nunally went through its her will to control the nuke button that made her break the geass and unblind herself lol

Random

I remember when we were voting and this one almost did not make it. Are you guys satisfied with that? I see the link between Lelouch and Light, but I feel Lelouch is closer to Ayanokoji from Classroom of the Elite. Maybe because I view L as the protagonist of Death Note. As for different endings, I feel like the hard turning point was Euphie's death. If Lelouch would not have lost control and she survived, it could have then gone many different ways; however, this is before Charles' plan was known, so it might have ended just as bad if Euphie survived.

banlungx001

Jeremeih is made of 50%machine and 50%fxxking loyalty !! ALSO prop for steph for calling the scapegoat plan like 3 episode eariler !!!

banlungx001

for the sequel , i would suggest the lastest geass movie (even the movie name is a spoiler) however , i wouldn t recommend the akito or the roze series , while they have banger fight scene since they are new anime , the writing is VERY basic , clearly , not the same writing team from the OG geass.

Lars Scheinert

Idk, i think the sequels just ruin the whole point if the finale

Lars Scheinert

I think lelouch was at a point that he thought he couldnt like explain his actions anymore. Shirley dead bc of him, Euphy, Rollo etc. He would never act like hes innocent and litteraly accepted his death for bigger reasons bc of his actions.

Lars Scheinert

It was long regarded as the best anime ending. For me it still is.

Alex5AVA6E

I love how similar Lelouch’s plan and Eren Yeager’s final plans were, but we get to see Lelouch’s plan executed better and with less bloodshed since he was a much smarter character than Eren! Both endings were masterpieces in their own way to me! Both are in my top 3 anime’s of all time!

Alex5AVA6E

I agree with this! I think they should watch the movie at least!!!!! Just gotta keep in mind that it’s separate cannon to those recap movies and it’s mainly just fan service! Even tho it does also loosely connect to Code Geass: Rose of the Recapture. Which I think was good! Maybe there’s enjoy it too!

Itsy_v2

You guys are great

DepressedSoggyWaffle

“Oh I thought C.C. just detonated” has my sides splitting

banlungx001

me too , you have to turn off you brian a bit and just think of it as a good fan fiction. beside , it just a 2 hours movie , done in a flash !!

Tommy Gatica

This is my favorite anime of all times ,and I've been watching anime for more than 17 years now

Hisoka

aaa are you mad ?? Why do you have to cry about other people's opinions if you disagree say so stop bitching

KeanuofRivia

Question is, do we tell them about the fan theory?

Tim Tim

So basically, now when you saw everything.. I wouldn't exactly recommend watch re-cap movies, altrough SADLY they are the CANON one's compared to series. But basically what you need to know, is that there was no mao with geass that helped reading thoughs, and Shirley never died. But, what I will recommend you to watch, is the third movie I think, Lelouch of the Re;surrection. It's canon and continues story, or more like ends it (in my opinion I guess, because there were some news about season 3)

R

One of the best anime I’ve ever seen. The ending could have been different, but I respect the official ending. After 6–7 months, I’ve finally completed rewatching it here. Lelouch started all of this to make the world a better place for his sister, which it did, but he’s no longer around to see it. He died as the most hated person on the planet which he saved, while carrying all the burden and suffering with him.

Uryū Ishida

Lelouch of the Re;surrection is only canon to an alternative timeline. This timeline of the series ends with Lelouch's death here. Both are canon, just in alternate timelines

Qtip166

Please watch the 4th movie! Movies 1-3 are recaps!

Ougi

I think it's so perfect that "the only ones who should kill are those prepared to die themselves" was something Lelouch said in episode 1. It was always a belief he held, but as he changes his relationship with that phrase also does. At points it's said to highlight Lelouch's hypocrisy, but having seen the ending, I watch those scenes back knowing he stuck to those words. Also, that mentality is what I think is the key difference between him and Schneizel. Schneizel always fought when assured of victory, Lelouch even said that in ep 24. Lelouch accounting for and making use of his own death, planning beyond that was the crucial difference. Schneizel was easy to give up when he realised he lost, he never planned to die. He wasn't prepared to die but killed anyway, which is part of what made him such a good foil to Lelouch in my opinion.

Racc

it always makes me cry to see the scene where everyone is celebratring the death of Lelouch the emperor and hearing Nunnally's VA going plus ultra with the acting.

Rostislav

I haven't seen the movies, and honestly, I think the story is completely finished. I understand when they make an alternate ending because fans are dissatisfied. But the original ending of Code Geass is considered one of the best in the industry.

Elijah Maurer

I don't know if this will be considered spoilers or not so feel free to delete this. The alternate ending has a heavier implication of Lelouch being alive. Fan theories believe that, in that ending, that he's the holder of C.C's Immortality now

Ronnie Banguran

Will you guys watch the Code Geass Lelouch the resurrection

LucaZ Yang

And there it is. With this rewatch with you two, it now completes 34 times I have watched Code Geass. And there's no doubt in my heart that I'll still rewatch it again and again in the future. Watching your discussions and perspectives for each episode, and especially the reactions for this last episode was great, I highly enjoyed all of it. Thank you for watching and sharing your reactions to one of my favorite animes of all time.

Tyrone Tyrone

I still can't believe Code Geass won a poll I salute your audiance. Most reactors consider it cancelled due to the fan service.

Barry

Can't say I'll ever get why people are obsessed with this but it was decent. As for the ending it seems silly to me that we are expected to believe a power vacuum that big won't result in countless smaller wars.

Eureka

Yes but maybe black knights

Hena

because the characters feel human, thats what really its all about. theres a reason why Lelouch is the #1 most liked character in MAL. you can make the most flawless plot but without good characters nobody cares. ultimately its all about the core message than what critiques can come up.

Hena

is that really true? pretty sure everyone only got good words for this show. theres barely fanservice that its existence is often forgotten.

BCloud

It's not supposed to be realistic it's supposed to be fun, and if people are entertained by it then that's literally all it needs to do

Tyrone Tyrone

I've seen that reaction mostly with newer reactors and their audiences whenever Code Geass gets mentioned for a possible reaction.

No Consequence

That alternate ending is a fan edit that keeps getting perpetuated despite being debunked over and over again

No Consequence

Question: why do we assume Lelouch did not leave anything in place to deal with the issue of a pwoer vacuum? Why is the immediate thought, "Oh, there were no plans for this so there's no possible way it could work!"

No Consequence

I see a lot of people miss it, but you're right, it's not even meant to be a utopia. All Lelouch did was destroyed the status quo that had a stranglehold on the word and allow himself to be painted as a convenient villain so people would be less likely to fall into old prejudices brought on by the wars and subjugation of the past. A reset is a perfect way to put it, basically wiping the slate clean and giving everyone a new beginning

Hirus

"Code Geass: Lelouch of the resurrection" is a good one to watch after the series if you want more. They basically made 4 movies, the first three basically "movie versions" of the series (with slight changes), with the 4th being a continuation after. It's kind of mixed among fans because people think the series ended just fine. But it is a good watch.

Hirus

Basically the main criticism of the movie "Code Geass Lelouch the resurrection". I like to look at the 4 movies as a separate retelling of the story. They're a good watch if you're a super fan of Code Geass, but yeah, the series ending is perfect in my eyes.

Nick James

And that completes my 5th rewatch of Code Geass my favorite anime of all time and the ending made me cry EVERY SINGLE TIME especially the part where Lelouch says "I destroy the world and create it anew."

Tom

Theirs sequils!!!!

Emir

Code Geass: Lelouch of the Re;surrection reaction ?

Julian Ellis

The ending is supposed to be open / vague, anything set in stone is people making that distinction themselves. Gorou Taniguchi himself said "we wanted to make it unclear in the TV series whether Lelouch was alive or dead..." Personal head-canon for me is that Lelouch achieved "Code Geass", normal path for users would be Geass -> Kill their Contractor -> Code but as Lelouch didn't kill his contractor, he inherits it from a different contractor (Code bearers can't use Geass but because it's from different sources he can). Plus Lelouch definitely made it a big deal about giving C.C. what she wanted and he wouldn't have left C.C. to wander the world alone. And I think the reason that the movies/OVAs are set in an alt universe is to respect the viewers ending of the main verse

Godspeedhero

A lovely ending. A bit sad, but also a bit happy. Definitely was an engaging watch and reaction.

D B

There's not a power vacuum though. Britannia just gets a new leader, otherwise the Black Knights and Zero keep check, and many members of the United Nations like China are all on the same page. I don't understand how you'd possibly expect a ton of wars after this ending, nations have exhausted their resources, nuclear warfare has been introduced even if the Damocles was destroyed, and Britannia's leaders in Schneizel and Cornelia. What exactly is this massive power vacuum that will result in tons of wars?

D B

People are allowed to critique you man, it's pretty crappy to come into a finale for a show to just shit on another one.

GAUTHAM VADLAMUDI

@1:13:40 what AOT did is not exactly that. And code Geass has 1000000000 % superior ending than AOT ending. Yes the theme of violence and human nature, greed will return to push world towards violence, in AOT was nice and all, but the way it played out in the story of AOT is - basically what Eren ended up doing is just a cheap knockoff very of Zero requiem without only Eren didn't have any conviction, clarity, of his own actions, intentions which are inconsistent at best and incongruently messy ... and everything is just justified at the end with "predeterminism" , all the while Eren wanted to gain freedom for his friends, but ending up antagonising entire world against Paradis islanders because of rumbling and ironically leaving the Eldians and paradis islanders defenseless takeaway their powers, and especially leaving 20% or so outsiders.. just because.. no reason.. there was no conviction anywhere, as though he wanted to save his friends he also allowed,, and expected them to enter the final battle filled with thousands of sentient titans, as a s*icide mission only for them to survive because of plot armour, and finally Eren doesn't even know why he did what he did except some lame teenage love possessiveness.. Thus, achieving nothing, and Eren's intentions are confusing to himself he wanting to only protect his friends could neither destroy enemies fully, nor he could protect his friends with the help of plot armour nor he had any idea why he was doing it all, still for some reason AOT treats Eren as some kind of messiah at the end trying to successfully copy the great writing of code Geass ending.. thus making AOT's implementation of requiem cheap and pointless., The theme of efforts for peace being meaningless due to human nature and tendency towards violence is a nice theme to zero in on, but AOT fails at it by just making the ending more like "pointless" than "meaningless".., there's a difference between the two.. In addition, AOT ending had all characters ruined , Their character development ignored, retconing plot points just for shock factor, and the truth if the world being a teenage love story filled with Stockholm syndrome.. and many many plot holes, plot contrivenses, inconsistencies coupled with time travel crutch fir every a d any explanation... all this at ten end of AOT is just sad. After all this time, AOT one of my favourite shows.. which could've been a greatest story of modern times ruined by the conviction of the author to either make the grey protagonist go full villian, or do a magnanimous sacrifice, or at least make it a tragedy by showing the conviction of the protagonist to achieve something but failing tragically. AOT did none of that... It's just superficial writing just to wrap up the story because the author lost his conviction to take it all the way. Code Geass has one of my favourite endings of all time and it didn't age at all even after 20 years, top tier writing.. it has it's issues with some plot contrivenses or characters revivals.. but other than that it's near perfect if an ending both for the main characters.. Either positive or tragic... Surely violence might be revived even in this world but it won't be as worse compared to the beginning of code Geass where majority of the world was colonized by Britannia. At least the nations will have self determination and they'll choose their own fate... Which lines with Lelouch's own philosophy towards the future. Coming to Lelouch, he is hands down the best antihero archetype protagonist of all time.. because is is self aware throughout, about this own actions, consequences, his sins, and he is ready to kill others because he is ready to sacrifice himself... And the character development he gets through the story, where he genuinely tries to make his actions homage to those he had to sacrifice.. And the conflict of ideologies like breaking everything to rebuild Vs reforming from inside, and questions like like do ends justify the means, etc.. that Suzaku and Lelouch embody... By the end Suzaku through all the heartbreaks became what he hated, and then when confronted with the reality Suzaku has to live on who always wanted to die, while Lelouch who always wanted a peaceful life with Nunully has to sacrifice everything... Euphy's episode where Lelouch for first time in his life let his guard down and was not calculative and was joking around with his cousin had to have geass activate.. is another tragedy mirroring what happned to Shirley... The unwavering loyalty of characters like Sayako, Jeremiah Vs Kallen's ardent loyalty towards Zero with her internal conflict of loyalty, Rolo who inspite of all that he did his redemption, so many great characters... Ohgi almost representative of the audience in the story, and Guilford's loyalty towards Cornelia, and how cool of a character Cornelia is.. her staying till then end to take forward her beloved Euphy's wishes... And bearing all the burdens and tragedy Nunnaly will try to right things with Suzaku accepting his own punishment to live as zero for every guarding it all.. and finally Lelouch Vs Suzaku Lelouch beginning as a pragmatic and Suzaku beginning as an idealistic... And both evolving through the story... Then Lelouch through his life.. who has always tried to do the right thing but might not have always taken best decisions, a flawed character, always never gave excuses for his actions and owned up to everything even that he didn't do it didn't have control over.. because he acknowledges that his hands are dirty and he feels the responsibility of all those sacrifices that he had to make of people, or their freewill, their emotions, etc... and he has always been true to his ideals that he was able to inflict damage because he was ready to take it when needed... And at the end he even sacrificed his primary purpose of Saving Nunnaly for greater good, while still he could only use Geass on Nunnaly when he truly felt he is alright and strong enough and is not gullible.. He is so deep, nuanced character.. and Lelouch is imo Light Yagami character archetype done right... Light is self obsessed, narssisistic, god complex, without any remorse because he is pure epistome of "ends justify means" with delusion of self grandization and believed he was always right and he and only he is eligible to dirty his hands as he is worthy and above all humanity, and he went to any extent for self-preservation.. lacking any nuance in character.. Lelouch shares many characteristics like egotistical, arrogant, intelligent, manipulative etc... like Light, but Lelouch is more self aware, thoughtful, introspective, nuanced with a lot of depth. Their deaths show thematically reflecting their lives.. Light had a pathetic, sad, arrogant, denial filled death... While Lelouch had tragically satisfying, self-content, self-reflecting death. I watched death note and liked it's lot, but never fan of Light as a character even though his intellect was next level.. and then when I watched code Geass it opened my eyes to a great character writing... I watched AOT when it came out from the beginning and by that time, I've already watched Death note and code Geass multiple times.. and till final season AOT was peak, and even in final season part1,2 it was intriguing me how they've handle negative character progression of Eren.. I was very excited to see a new, unique different but fulfilling character conclusion for Eren and I was ready for snything.. triumphant or tragic ending.. I was ok with either.. And I was expecting something as similar as Lelouch from Eren when he started becoming darker at the end, but isayama didn't have conviction to make his character meaningful, even though I love dthe direction of the theme isayama was trying to drive in AOT ending, instead of showing the "meaningless struggle towards achieving peace as it's never possible " theme, isayama made the whole story of the protagonist and the story itself "pointless" not "meaningless" making the protagonist a confused teenage mess, who had conviction before then lost it all but still unalived 80% of population, but didn't know why he was doing it, then but for some reason he stopped at 80% because his friends came and stopped him, which he was expecting them to come and stop him with the help of plot armour thus putting themselves in mortal danger but he did all that to protect his friends and sacrifice himself and he doesn't care about anything else, but he still wante ego come to the battle.. and then he left the world in worse condition than before, by legitimising the stereotype towards Eldians and antagonising whole world against the Paradis islanders who were left defenseless as Eren took away titan powers, but knowing all this he also left 20% population alive.. but still it's all predetermined.. and Eren had no control, but still he is somehow messiah who saved the world by taking upon then hatred upon himself.. there's no logical consistency anywhere, and somehow AOT is a masterpiece for everyone and Eren is a Messiah... I'm happy I saw code Geass before so I know what's good writing is and what great deep, layerd determined, flawed, constantly evolving character can be.. like Lelouch.

testlunch

>"Btw you know Kallen's signature move is to prevent ejection, so I feel like in a way did she just kind of spare her." All jokes aside, I actually really vibe with this interpretation lol Also with your summary on Diethard, so good. Loved it! This was without a doubt my favorite Code Geass reaction that I've seen. You guys and your theories and comments throughout the whole thing were so interesting and fun, especially with all the comparisons and parallels you would draw from other sources. Just overall really really interesting and engaging!

Neah

in 2027 there will be a new series (or movie, not sure) for code geass. it will feature new character and it seems to be way before the technology that we see here

Nick James

I cried even before that this time. Code Geass is by no means perfect but it is still my #1 anime
