It’s not just in the moonlight anyone can see her eyes. It’s in any light as long as you’re close enough to her face. Because when jang uk first met naksu “mudeok” he can see her eyes when it was daylight out as well when the sun shined on her eyes.

THE BIT WHERE THE ACTOR FELL WAS BY MISTAKE BUT THEY DECIDED TO KEEP IT IN

Narawin971

1:03:13 : the traduction is accurate imo. he did say "be my guest" as in "go ahead and kys then" out of anger/frustration, I presume because it was his nth dead end and had no particular empathy for her to begin with. as of now, their relationship is still solely based on a transaction. ps : If I remember correctly you will get more info about the scene where he gets his gate opened by only one master

Jo

in the other translation I watched, "be my guest" is translated as "go ahead and kill yourself"

Bless

I need moree

ITHINK IT HAD TO DO WITH POWER LEVEL REF OPENING HIS GATE, SO HIS TWO YOUNG FRIENDS WERE NOT STRONG ENOUGH , TOOK A ELDER MASTER TO DO IT BUT THEY WOULD NOT AS IT HAD BEEN FORBIDDEN BY HIS FATHER

I love this show and I am happy you guys are enjoying it. Next episode will reveal more but I just want to say the Prince is my favourite character. I can’t wait till he is introduced more. Also your train of thought was a lot better than mine when I first watched this show.

I don't think this bit will ever be explained thoroughly within the show, so would just like to put a bit of context to the main factions so it's easier to follow. But basically, in the Kingdom of Daeho, you have 4 major institutions which the 4 season's families oversee, 5 if you include the Royal Palace. 1. Cheonbugwan - headed by the Gwanju (Jang Gang). I think they oversee recording constellations. They also train mages that serve the Royal Palace directly. I think the Gwanju also seems to serve as the "Hand of the King", so he's basically second in rank in terms of power next to the King. Also probably why the others can't go against him and open Uk's gate. 2. Songrim - headed by Park Jin (Dang-Gu's uncle. Dang-gu is the funny guy). Personally I feel like they're some sort of Mage Investigation Bureau and they train mages that would hunt/counter dark magic. Within Songrim, they have Jeojingak, which is the school where they train the mages. 3. Sejukwon (the infirmary) - technically also located within Songrim where they do magical medicine, headed by Master Heo, the old man who opened Jang Uk's gate of energy. I believe they are a branch of the Seo family also (where Seo Yul is from). I think they're a military family in the north that protect the Kingdom's borders. 4. Jinyowon - headed by Jin Ho Gyeong (Spring Lady's mom). They safeguard magical relics and artifacts. They have priestesses instead of mages. There are also other mage families and institutions where Jang Uk goes to train but they don't go deeper into them and what they govern but they'll be sprinkled in here and there.

Just occurred to me this is as far as I made into the show and it's only ep 2 😂 I got bored with this one way faster than I thought. But it's been a few yrs so gonna see if my perspective on the show changes as we go. You guys make most things watchable for me anyway lol but I'm thinking I had a very different exposure to kdramas back when I tried to watch this one. More romcom and less sci-fi/fantasy and the cinematics were overboard for me back then, but since then, I've watched a few Chinese dramas (which are crazy dramatic cinema) so this already feels different to watch now 🤔 one problem I had then that I still have now is that I'm so damn confused lol I think white hair guy is the guy who got tricked and is main dudes "father ish" but then who is long hair guy? Cuz I was thinking that was his father-ish.

Ahjusshi_Brown

They translated it as "then be my guest" but in Korean he said "then kill yourself." 😬 hence his guilt when he hears where she was headed

Ahjusshi_Brown

The "Gwanju" is basically the royal mage. It's a revered position that essentially connects the power of Songrim and the royalty of the nation. Very important position in maintaining that power balance too

Ahjusshi_Brown

Nope. Nobody lied. They said no one could open his gate. But they never said it's because no one was strong enough. We saw in this episode that his father forbid opening his gate and, due to his position, everyone listened.

Most of your questions will get cleared in the coming episodes, but you're on the right track! (I wrote a whole ass long comment but when i re-read it, it mostly contained info that you'll eventually figure out. characters, their positions in the kingdom, etc. so i thought it's best to leave it be and let you work it out by yourself. ^^ )

As a foreigner living in korea for almost 21yrs..this is my alltime favorite kdrama🥰

ace_pops

This is becoming one of my favourite kdramas very fast! After you posted ep 1, I immediately started binging and I love it so far 😁🙌 Hope you do too It's already jumping straight over to my nr 2 spot, but Crash Landing On You is just too iconic to ever be dethroned; I've rewatched it like 10 times 😂

Jo

After it was confirmed that Alchemy of Souls won the poll, I already started watching it ahead of time and now I’m on episode 13. I’m really loving it so far!

Tannies19

Guys, you are in for a ride with this show. Every episode is a movie!!

BN

Pronunciation tip! “eo” in Korean is similar to just “o”/“oh” (it’s a little more subtle that that but hard to describe). So Seoyul isn’t “Say-oh-yul” or “See-oh-yul”, it’s just “Soh-yul”. This is true for any time you see “eo” in a Korean name or word. For example Kim Seokjin from BTS: his name is pronounced “Kim Sohk Jin”! Tteokbokki is “ttohkbokki” and so on

fauxisreal🍒

omgggggggg just saw you guys are watching this now!! so happy!!! it’s been the one i’ve wanted yall to watch since crash landing on you won the first k drama poll hahahahaaha dreams come true

fauxisreal🍒
